This state gets a bad rap too often. It's actually my favorite state and I have lived all over the country and even out of the country and Alabama is actually a great place to live.
Probably good it gets a bad rap otherwise all the Californians would out bid in the housing market 😆 TN is starting to have issues with this. I'm in Vegas and the cost of housing has gone up almost 20%, I want to get the hell out of Vegas.
I was born in Alabama. I have lived in Alabama, Texas, Florida, Mississippi and Virginia and a total of 3 other Continents (Africa, Europe and the Middle East). I ended up back in my hometown in Alabama and built a house in the middle of a 1000 Acre Wilderness Area. My neighborhood consists of 18 houses all on 2-3 Acre Estates. In this area there are only about 10 other houses in the 1000 Acres. I love my State.....Rolllll Tide!!

Well I was born and raised in North Alabama now live on the West coast. Have relatives and friends all over the state. Miss my home state but not all the rain and storms. However, that is what makes it so beautiful. I was surprised about the crime increase. I hope Alabama does not have the problems California has with housing. I guess we will have to live in tents.

I'm from Great Britain my dream would be to live in Alabama I couldn't tell you that there are better people anywhere else on earth, I have never seen people more like-minded to myself anywhere else and the amount of freedom you have over there makes Britain look like North Korea.
I live in Alabama and this video is pretty accurate. Huntsville is the biggest Hotspot with high paying jobs and lots of entertainment. The city just became the largest in the state with explosive growth.

I'm a New Yorker but I've always had an interest in Alabama. I have to visit Alabama and Texas one day. I've been to Knoxville Tennessee because i got family over there but that's as southern as I've gotten lol.
I am a Home Inspector in South Alabama and I have performed more inspections from people from out of state in 2021 than I have the whole time I have been a Home Inspector. Some have told me they moved here to prevent from becoming homeless. Yeah Alabama. Alabama like all other states has it's good and bad. There are things that need to be corrected like all states. We should not stereotype. Just because a few apples are bad does not mean all the apples are bad. There are many good things about the state. Think of it that way.
I've been to Huntsville three times. I love it. The only thing I was Disturbed about was all the cockroaches. I love it there,and would love to move there someday.

Talk about ALL the taxes, especially the sales tax on groceries and medicine. In Montgomery it’s 10%! In Florida, it’s 0%, and there’s no State income tax.
Florida has a lot higher insurance, be it homeowners or auto. Plus, flood insurance. We are looking at both Alabama and Florida. Alabama definitely offers more affordability
Absolutely. I'm half Japanese and have lived in south Alabama for 40 years. Never had a problem. There's a huge Vietnamese community down here, too. They'll probably tell you the same thing.
I haven't been there, so you'd have to look at some google street views to see the architecture (or visit), but the crime rate is lower than most of Alabama, yet higher than most cities in the US. Chance of being a victim of violent crime is 1 in 2100 (vs 1 in 196 for Alabama as a whole). Housing is spiking at 21%, and is around 240k on average, with expensive houses on the outskirts at 400k+.
it's a small city/ large town that's really peaceful and has alot of affordble homes if you can find any up for sale the only down side is when people get housing they tend to stay there for years which i think is an actual good thing but the crime rate is very low compared to other cities, but the town has everything u need and its close enough to major cities like Birmingham, Huntsville and etc. for commuting for jobs or business and has a great school system in the city but stay away from the county schools if you can. So overall one of the better cities I've lived in and been to.
Moved there for about a year. People didn't want anything to do with me or my children, called them dam yankees. Found out because my daughter came in to ask me what a dam yankees was. My answer was " it means you are a good loving person".

Glad to see the good reports, but please if anyone thinks about moving here, please leave behind all the bad things you are running from. You know, " when in Rome, do as the Romans". Don't ruin the south with failed northern or west coast social liberalism. Keep Alabama taxes and living expenses lower than the rest of the nation by not taxing the people into oblivion. I'm orig. from Alabama but live in Pennsylvania and i can tell you that Pa. has a lot and i mean a lot of negatives, this is a bull crap state!! starting with the weather, high crooked taxes. they run a good ole boy set up in the state, the bad government how they run the state. a bad governor, more bad roads and bridges still need done, people can be cool or ok but so many of them have that nasty northeast mindset, or attitude so you really got weed out the good people here, better economy ,bad crooked politicians, a bad crooked good ole boy road maintenance dept. call PENNDOT!! and the list goes on!! any state you move too , you take the good and the bad depending what you wanna deal with.
Glad to see the good reports, but please if anyone thinks about moving here, please leave behind all the bad things you are running from. You know, " when in Rome, do as the Romans". Don't ruin the south with failed northern or west coast social liberalism. Keep Alabama taxes and living expenses lower than the rest of the nation by not taxing the people into oblivion. Oh, and I am one of those with a bachelor's or above that live in Bama and wouldn't trade my conservative southern principles.

The only places in Alabama that are cheap, are the places you don't want to be. Bama is violent. Like 6th most. You have to spend the $$ for safety.
@@michaelstallings5824 I have family in Alabama and I’ve lived all over Alabama, Anniston, Ohatchee , Gadsden, Birmingham, Montgomery, Brewton , Ragland and he’s correct , specially the bigger cities and we all know why.

That is sad to learn about the crime. It has changed a lot or I was not aware. Yes indeed crime needs to be corrected in all states. I moved away in 2017.
