He's truly a marvel. People who are only casual fans of what's on commercial pop radio lost track of him in the 90's. For those of us who loved his songs from the first times we heard him, we stayed and have been rewarded over and over again. Thanks, man.
I forgot this or finally found this. Beck is a genius/hero on multiple levels Thanks for sharing! He was brilliant with an 80+ orchestra at Wolf Trap. 😊

Production and 'something electronic' doesn't have to mean you're 'hiding' at all. It's just the approach, instrumentation, arrangements, and studio options are your disposal to create the sonic statements you're working to achieve.
It's truly rare, but I'd have to throw Bowie and Prince in there, too. Tom Waits has an incredible range of styles and is incredibly prolific as well. Peter Gabriel's a contender as well.

Love ya💜
I saw him play solo in Berlin around this time, same set up, it was also in a church, great gig !!
a true musician showing he can perform without over-production or hiding behind something electronic... Sea Change is epic and timeless.

Beck straight class. He can play all instruments. Most unpredictable musician ever. You do not know where he will go from one album to the other.
He's not limited to a genre. Rock, hip-hop, afro pop, gospel folk bluegrass, psychedelic jam, and never forget.... funky white boy dance music.
I love the guy, too, but Bowie and Eno were pretty unpredictable and forward thinking, too.
Sea Change is off the charts.
I'm old, and I haven't seen this much music pour out of one guy since Stevie Wonder.
Or soul.
Yes, variety, im 70, kinks, who, hendrix, zep,,, this guys up there.
It's truly rare, but I'd have to throw Bowie and Prince in there, too. Tom Waits has an incredible range of styles and is incredibly prolific as well. Peter Gabriel's a contender as well.
It's truly unbelievable. He feels every word every note. And the road he took to get here is absolutely incredible.
Anyone else notice he said "...eyes are turning RED" instead of "pink" that rhymes with the next line "drink" .Still love this to death!!!
