0:17 black tambourine (amazing improv) 4:48 girl (my favourite) 8:40 guess i'm doing fine (my other favourite) 11:57 tropicalia (great percussion) (yes, i have a comment for every song)
@@evanabbott2737 Ha, I was just going to say that. I thoroughly agree with any and all high praise for any of this. And especially for Girl! Damn, just amazing.
That was the album that introduced me to him, too. But it wasn't his first album, really. He had about 3-4 albums worth of songs, and recorded for different indy labels as well as DGC for Mellow Gold.
Thank you to whoever posted this!! "Unplugged" was a way for a band to show its true talent. You're more exposed up there without the loud distorted guitar or the pounding drums to hide behind. It also gave the musicians an opportunity to use different instruments and, sometimes, different arrangements. I'm glad Beck is still going strong!!!
I believe that is Sam Jayne on harmonica, Speak & Spell, keyboard, and vocals. Very talented artist who also played on Beck's album "One Foot in the Grave" and had was in the bands Love as Laughter and Lync. If you like early Beck check out the Love as Laughter album, "The Greks Bring Gifts". He sadly passed away in 2020.
The toy keyboard was not the best choice here. Guess I'm Feeling Fine is such a classic song. Sea Change was a masterpiece. Like to hear Beck with a better band though.

Beck has been my most fave artist since his first album “Mellow Gold” and everything since!

One foot in the Grave
@@jodyvance1554Stereopathetic Soulmanure. One Foot In the Grave. Both fantastic
Beck is Amazing. Fortunately, his talents balance today’s mundane “Radio Music”. Love what he has done to modern music.
How could Any one get sick of watching this? It’s sick !
Beck makes great ageless tunes. He strums pretty hard. Goes through strings often I’m sure.
Brilliant through and through.
and Summer Girl becomes Cyanide Girl...... Fantastic!!
Love that version of Black Tambourine....excellent!

Couldn't you still use a drum kit in an unplugged performance? It's not an electronically-operated or amplified instrument.
@@k-leb4671 It looks like he's banging on an upside down plastic bucket. Does that count? heh
THAT DUDE KILLED THE SPEAK AND SPELL
He rocked that Etch-A-Sketch
What an awesome version of Black Tambourine!
the unironic fedora is the perfect avatar of his output at this time
God damn this is just so incredibly good. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for uploading this man. Really good find.

Its Brian Lebarton not Sam Jayne.
@@sully1time Thanks for the clarification! Couldn't find any info about this lineup.
@@HughGuthrieHolden No problem, i have been mixing Becks Live shows from 2006 till current, so i know all the lineup changes pretty well!
@@sully1time That's awesome! Are the live sets you're mixing going to be officially released?
@@HughGuthrieHolden doubt it.
I didn't appreciate Beck till I got older.

Been a fan since the first bar I ever heard in 94
Love this so much! 💜
Were they using a speak and spell to make music? That's so bad ass!!
Great video!!!
the more I listen the more the detail;s erupt organic.
LoL!!! at the speak and spell being used as an instrument...
Oooohh. I just missed a heartbeat. Or two.

out of context this just looks like a bunch of weird guys making noise. well it still kinda is. but it rocks
Noel Fielding was great in this
A young Dave Grohl as well at 12:36
What a cool concert 👍
I have been too! It used to exist online through a vh1 taping, and then kinda just disappeared.
Jesus...does a Girls version could get any better than this!!!
Awesome!
Oh yeah……Jam out on the Speak and Spell !!

BECK RULES !!
Was that guy playing a speak and spell??
In the beginning it sounds like the intro of sympathy of the devil a bit but better with more butter and less stale old bread!
love this guy, put him right behind david burne
Absolutely James! What d'you think of this one? ruclips.net/video/uYLBP3B0uM0/видео.html

PlayeroftheYear Good! but the record has been at least 11 years ago.
could've taken kurt's spot as white poet of gen x until south park exposed him like woodward & bernstein...
Get bent.
How did South Park 'expose' Beck? Please tell me more.
live songs versions done right. In your face U2 and gorillaz.
