- In 2008, Beck teamed up with super producer Danger Mouse for the critically acclaimed album "Modern Guilt." The album blends straight-ahead rock and roll with a sophisticated pop sensibility. However, Beck marked his KCRW performance for the album with dialed back arrangements. Watch the highlights of this exclusive acoustic session.
Set List:
0:00 Gamma Ray

Why does this look like it was filmed in 1998?
Because cameras were still pretty shitty in 2008 lol
They had HD cameras then but they were expensive so really only used professionally.
what is that smaller acoustic guitar he's playing? can't really see headstock
This was before he became a scientist?
He grew up in Scientology. Haven’t you heard The Information? He’s the opposite of most people: all the weirdness and aliens and extra-dimensional space travel shit that makes people think Scientology is batshit crazy … is what Beck is really into to. I think he’s entertained by it, or finds it creative? I mean, it was basically invented out of thin air by a bad science fiction writer; there is something fun about that, as long as you don’t go full Tom Cruise.
Beck was born into it and first acknowledged his affiliation in 2005, but since his divorce from Marissa Ribisi (another Scientologist) in 2019 he has publicly disavowed it and stated he is Jewish. I wouldn't be surprised if he is still privately affiliated with them to some degree due to his family connections and the Church of Scientology's poor reputation in handling criticism from dissenters.
He often says he grew up in it but isn't religious. Read about scientology before getting involved is my advice, it's not all space gods and fun
I like it more when he plays a super-expensive guitar.
zzzzzzzzzz.....
