@@YakFishField that made my day btw. Your channel is fucking AWESOME! I really been binge watching all your videos the past two days. I'm very picky about who I subscribe to because I'm on youtube all day, and you earned it. In fact, I haven't fished since elementary school (and I graduated HS 2 years ago) and you motivated me to hop in the Chesapeake Bay (In Maryland) and catch some Striped Bass as well as Snake heads. Keep up the amazing work. Also you're the first fishing channel I have ever found that I can chain watch (also the first fishing channel I've EVER subscribed to!)
My Dad and his brother would go up to Alaska every year back in the 50's and 60's for salmon and or halibut when in 1960 my dad landed a 300+ lb fish in a 16 foot open boat and the picture I saw had the fish laying in the bottom of the boat with it's wings curling over the gunuls of both sides of the boat. I don't know how many monsters like that are still left up there, but here in Rhode island we call the big fluke "Doormats" and that makes the fish my Dad caught a fricken "Wall to Wall Carpet". You bring back a lot of memories Robert, thank you so much for that....
Tremendous video ! It's great that you are modest Robert but don't sell yourself short. Your natural history content is remarkable. Super editing, very creative, super talented. Keep 'em coming sir.
Awesome video Robert! I love fishing the Frederick Sound - one the most amazing spots in all of Southeast Alaska and just a quick trip from Petersburg (a little farther trek down from Juneau). This is one of the rare places that you can be fishing for halibut or salmon and potentially see humpbacks, orcas, icebergs and snow-capped mountains all at the same time!
Awesome content! I love watching your tropical fishing videos but it’s really cool to see how diverse fishing can be anywhere. You’re making me set goals for myself I never knew existed haha.
That mystery fish was indeed a kelp greenling. Great lingcod live bait. The big Lings will hitchhike all the way to the surface and let go when their head breaks the surface. Netted many free swimming lings!
Awesome, just another awesome video Robert! Be great to meet you. Iused to live in MI and caught Bass, Pike, BlueGill, Perch, Wahleye, you name it. Now I'm in AZ, got some nice big lakes but quite a drive lol
I go salmon fishing all the time and went halibut fishing every once in a blue moon and my biggest halibut was 60 lbs almost bigger than me caught it Ketchikan and live in Washington
I can’t recommend this lodge honestly. Do some research online and find an organized outfit. The owner was a great guy but the lodge isn’t your best bet. And there’s only one time of year to go fishing in Alaska: summer. It’s about a 4 month season
I am a teenager that lives in Alaska and we fish many times during the summer for and whenever we can and I didn’t realize how lucky I am in till recently. Many people dream of what I do. It’s a weird feeling haha
We really enjoyed watching this! We hope to one day do this too. What a dream! So many different kinds of fish! It sure looked like a beautiful location and lots of fun! Looking forward to the next video! Sent you a “U-boat” or “long sandwich” and a big LIKE! 😁👍🏻 Tight lines! 🎣
Just went fishing in Sitka last month in June, excursion from a cruise boat Holland America . Caught a 28 inch Lingcod and 8 small rockfish. I really wanted to catch a Halibut . Trouble we had was the charter boat , trolled for most of our trip for salmon , but we were not marking any fish and I finally called the captain out on it, and he changed up for us to jig for Rockfish and salmon.
Hey Rob if you're out looking for different places To run trips out of you have to check out Pelicans Roost in New Orleans. 1st class accommodations Super trained friendly staff, non stop action and VIP SERVICE. So if your looking for Reds,Specks and a host of other fish with Ritz Carlton accommodations on a House Boat in the Bayou. Check them out.
Rob you should come to Georgia and camp on the lake. It would make for a cool video because people can learn a bit more from it. I go bass fishing in the morning and at dusk and catfisbing later at night and its more of the American fishing experiece and it would make for a good video
Congrats on ur Halibut Rob 🤙(even though that UGLY face close up of it, was not necessary 😵) Also, thank u..becuz I didn't know that about the eagles head feathers changing from brown to white. (Just thought they were always white) Can't wait to see the crabbing video 🦀 Keep enjoying life 😊
You need your own show on Netflix or Amazon. No other show would be able to compete with your quality and honesty.
It's surprising to me he only has 150k subs
Thanks Geoff, that means a lot!
100% agree
*Fishing the wild* would come close
“It doesn’t owe you money.” 🤣 🤣

Awesome video guys! Can’t wait to get out this year! At 15:17, wasn’t that a black bass (not a cod)? I’m still learning the species.
Your guess is as good as mine. Was just repeating what my guide called them.
