Kayak Fishing: BIG Yellowtail Kingfish Offshore -- New Zealand Ep 8 | Field Trips with Robert Field
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 окт 2024
- In this episode we're making a long paddle to a remote underwater pinnacle to target BIG yellowtail kingfish from the kayaks. The action is hot and heavy, and I hook into something BIG at the end of the day.
Then, back at the boat, we're harvesting fresh sea urchins and other seafood from right under the boat.
COMMENT BELOW and tell me if you've eaten uni! If not, would you? Who thinks these yellowtail look like fun?

I was kayak fishing of Moturekareka Island not too far from where these boys are fishing. I hooked a Kawahai which then got hit by huge Kingfish. That thing almost dragged me to the Coromandel! Bloody powerful fish.
I noticed 1 thumbs down on this video. Must be someone jealous that they aren't on the water. Great series of videos, really enjoying them. Nice work.
Frank Palermo update: 8 thumbs down three months later
The Kingfish kept getting bigger. Nice to enjoy the different fish under the boat. Tasty looking supper.
SO tasty!
getting a notification that Rob has a new video, is a great start to my day! Thank you again. Uni, you have to ask me twice!
I am loving these down under videos!! Just gorgeous scenery, awesome kayaks to fish out of and even better fishing.
Best fishing videos on RUclips, I will try and help spread it around.
Thanks man!
That looks like a blast! I need to try this "flour down under" 😂
Great Rob! Thanks for taking me with you!

Haha 🤷🏼♂️
Awesome video! Lovve the kingfish jigging action!
Every time you leave your feet in the water it stresses me out lol. "Oh look, a hammer head. Let me splash blood around"
Great episode, nice kingy! That was the best explanation of uni that I’ve heard.
Hahaha
_Your _*_video_*_ is awesome Congratulations Fisherman._
Have a week of plenty and good Fishing.
hug!!!!! 👍🎣🐟🐠
Dude, this looked like such a blast. Seriously want to do this one day.
We’ll be offering trips soon!
I caught a 25" red drum in Galveston bay yesterday, going to be a fun fishing season this year.

Awesome video, to represent what looks like an excellent trip!
You can say MANTAP...if you fish on/strike....in indonesia say MANTAP..if strike..😀😀✌✌👍👍 nice video...big kingfish brother..
Yessss keep the content coming brother!!!! Good luck out on the water be safe and keep up the work i appreciate the channel
loving this series of videos Robert great Job man!
I named my kayak "shark bait" seems a good name lol, I feel like that when I'm fishing off it.
Same
That big yellowtail looked like an awesome fight. You have to find out what is in that batter for us.👍
great footage haha looks really awkward to jig from the kayak! but still great catches on the kingfish
That rod was what’s awkward. Too short with too long of a butt
I’m so
Jelly!!!!! I wanna catch any of the fish over there just once!
Great vid
Awesome footage! I will admit you do sound tired but you didn't slow down any.
Hey Robert! Another great video! Been a fan for awhile. What type of net did you use in this video?
Legends!
Another banger
Thanks homie!
@@YakFishField did you keep any? And how do you transport them back? - They're huge!
Hey mate. Can I suggest going to the three kings for a epic kingfish trip. Dont bother with taking photos of any yellowtail kingfish under 30kg. Biggest I have seen out there in photos was close to 50kg. Bass over 80kg on some trips
Take me with u mate😂...doesnt get much better bro
Good stuff man...
Awesome video btw!
Lovin it
Love the video! ♥️
Hi Brenda 👋
i have been watching your vids for while and a love the videos i live in new zealand and i have been trying to hook up a kingfish can you tell me where you guys where fishing for the kingfish?
Mate I caught a 720mm one in the pukerua bay near Wellington. Depends where you live and how far your going out. I was only in like 40ish meters of water
This video was around and at barrett island
That snappAh looks delish!!😋😛🤪
Sweet
WE JUST PASSED YOU ON THE INTERSTATE HIIIIIIII!!!!! IN LOUISIANA
That’s awesome!! Hey!!
Curious how you top this series? Field Trip, Panama, now Aus/NZ. Part of me is already wishing my summer away so I can go back to Manzanillo Mx and get back on the water. Great vid
Hahaha on to the next adventure brother. Alaska is next
if you had to pick one off shore kayak to buy new which one would you choose, I love the Viking but I cant seem to get it here in U.S.
Loved the episode bro, 2 things though, any particular reason none of the yellowtails were kept and cooked? and secondly, did you ever find out what was in the batter? inquiring minds want to know lol :-D
We been eatin yellowtail sashimi the whole time bro. They’re best raw IMO. Catch and cook episode comin up next with 4 diff fish
The secret batter recipe is flour, salt, pepper, and malt vinegar. That’s it lol
I'm planning on getting a kayak or a motorized micro skiff. Do I need to get something expensive to troll, bottom fish and jig like a Slammer or Saragosa? Or maybe can I just use a Battle II, Spinfisher or a BG? Fish types in my area would mostly be amberjacks, spanish mackerels, queenfish, some sharks, mangrove jacks, groupers, some tuna and maybe GTs (in the Philippines). Also, are overhead setups a must for kayak fishing or can I still use spinning gear? As far as I know we don't have billfish or bigger tuna in our area.
You can use whatever you want brother. You never “need” to get anything. Many giant fish have been caught on PENN Fierces. Just get the best you can with your budget. People used to catch em with line wrapped around a rock, haha
What’s that sweet sun hoody you’ve got there friend
The NRS Varial sun hoodie
Hey Superman, You might have shared the shark fight with the others. Saved some wear and tear on your body.
I just saw you and your camper in Louisiana
Nice!!
You didn't keep any? Yellowtail sashimi is one of the best you will have!
Huh? Yes, we did. We’ve eaten sashimi in every video in this series so far i think?
we call sea urchin "kina" in New Zealand
Interesting
Well, I hope your gonna share on whats in that with the Snapper??
Coming soon :)
5 k paddle? Mothership has engine trouble?
What is your jig fishing gear ?
my biggest kingfish is my first kingfish and it was 147cm
I think it's the beer brand he uses and not so much the spice in that batter.
What kayak do you use?
This was a Viking Profish Reload but it wasn't mine
Robert, thought youd have new vid out by now, Thursday has come and gone, where is your lady assistant?
Jamie no longer works for me. Episodes come out every Tuesday and some Thursdays (not every Thursday)
So these are Yellow Amberjacks?
No, but they’re in the same family as amberjacks.
Kingies can grow to 150lbs... my biggest is 92lbs
Insane! Can’t even imagine
Are u drifting the whole time?
No, current was slow, pddlingnaround looking at fish finder
Uni better than Roy's lobster "paste "?
I would love to go Kayak fishing with you
Maybe we can make it happen one day!
Killer vid bro. But it's not Panama. Dude is it really safe to put raw stuff in your mouth. Bless up and be safe out there.
due im be so scared of sharks dangling feet in the water and landing fish at the surface. maybe you just get used to it
i live in new zealand in Auckland i live in papakura
Me too, I live near Leigh where there skipper is from.
Bro i know that batter
Pot Batter
I wish
I just caught my first kingfish a few months ago needless to say I was happy but it was only 720mm. Limit is 750 😥
Your videos are too good Robert. Please make them worse. Thanks
Haha my bad
