Just found your channel, absolutely love the fly fishing content! What a special trip, and how lucky to have an extra unexpected day in paradise, to meet such a cool guy to take you guys on an unforgettable day of fishing! He was so good at teaching and explaining everything without making it boring! A trip to AK is definitely on my bucket list
When you come back, get to Anchorage. There is so much world class fishing accessible from the road system. As a Brit' visitor, I'm lucky to have made great friends in Anchorage and I started my fly fishing there. Besides the Salmon fishing throughout the year the best part is huge fin-perfect Rainbows and Dollys. You haven't fished Alaska until you have landed a 30+inch Rainbow!
I just fished Sheep Creek when I was in Juneau this week for work! I was too early for the salmon run, but there were some Dolly Varden that were biting the spoon. Good times!!
Man you told me you were gonna post this and I've been waiting. Great video! Good to see you working the fly in there. Chum are pound for pound the hardest fighting salmon.
Great video dude im a new subscriber and i love to fish n crab. Somebody really needs to take you out to do some real salmon fishing man... Flossing/snagging isnt fishing. Go out with a guide where they float fish eggs for salmon and see what its like to actually fish for salmon. Checkout my videos and youll see how to get them to actually bite. Again, I love your saltwater kayak vids but I cant stand watching you, or anyone for that matter, snag fish and call it fishing. Especially when its your first time catching that species and you count it as your first catch when its snagged in the back... Thats also the reason your not able to fight them really, you can't turn their head when their hooked anywhere else than the mouth.
Chandler Noll my family is and has been in the fishing guide/lodge business in Alaska for 60 years. It’s almost upsetting to watch him floss fish that would actually hit a fly or lure
Just trying to share some info about an interesting species. No need to get upset about it. The real fishing was before this bonus day stuck in town, this trip wasn't planned until an hour before he picked us up. Not every trip can be epic and up to your standards. Sorry you didn't enjoy the episode; it wasn't meant for the diehard salmon anglers. I offer you a full refund :)

There's other parts of the river were you can camp over night and go cliff jumping. Like coffe camp and camp nelson. I'm a new subscriber to your channel . I'm from California but I live now in Garland tx. Is in California near the Tule river Indian Reservation.
Alaska fishing is the best because there are so many different species you can catch and I would want to go there really bad and hopefully I could go some day

Guys, I’ve always fresh watered my whole life, even though I live in CT. I really want to get into saltwater fishing, what rod and reel would you recommend?
You can probably use the same stuff you use for largemouth bass. That’s what I did fishing for em in Rhode Island. Just rinse everything off real well after every trip. If you want something new, I use Penn spinning gear because it’s bulletproof in the salt and the Quantum Smoke is a great saltwater bait caster.
Robert Field thanks man! I appreciate your help. The largeys are getting boring! Going to hit some canals this weekend. Love the vids by the way! Favorite kayak RUclipsr.
That was a terrible display in salmon fishing ethics. If you are snagging just about ever fish you "catch" you should not be fishing there. As a rule I don't comment on RUclips videos but come on man. That was pathetic.
That's a bit of an over exaggeration dont ya think? He caught more than ten fish and snagged like 1 or 2. Cut the man some slack and stop hating for the sake of hating
I did this to provide education and awareness about this incredible species. We spent an hour fishing for them, led by a biologist that’s employed with Alaska’s fish and game department. But you know better than him? Think before you comment brother, or get lumped in with the billion other idiots commenting senseless stuff on RUclips. Thanks for watching. 🤞🏼
#1 those aren't "BIG" chum by Alaska standards. #2 any idiot can floss to hook a fish which isn't anything to be proud of, or much less boastful of, more like something you hide. Plus, such tactics can have devastating outcomes when overly done or put to use on vulnerable species. #3 chum readily strike a huge array of flies and lures -- same for reds (sockeyes) too for that matter, which are much like chum when it comes to dietary habits -- so doing the snagging-in-mouth/ snagging near the mouth is essentially an example of laziness. And flossed chum in 6 inches of water? Really? Where is the challenge and sport in that??? #4 I trust that aluminum can in your hands didn't get tossed to the ground as litter. #5 milking a spawning fish of its roe is deplorable.
This guy works for Juneau’s fish and game department. I simply produced this video to share some education and awareness about the species. Sorry you were so upset by it. These particular fish were at the end of their line and unable to progress any further, so Peter said we weren’t doing any harm. I’ll take the biologist’s opinion over the angry youtube commenter. Have a nice day.
@@YakFishField State of Alaska Sports Fishing Regs specifically state that harassment of spawning salmon is a prohibited act, and if the Wildlife Safeguard hotline or Alaska Wildlife Troopers were informed of the act done by a fisherman, or frankly anyone, said person would be cited and fined; required to appear before a judge in the Alaska Courts System. Milking a spawning salmon certainly is defined as harassment; in fact, egregious harassment and is irrelevant of the species -- it's illegal not to mention unethical no matter which of the five species of Pacific salmon is involved. This particular individual is not identified on film nor in the description as an ADFG fisheries biologist. Nor is your video presented, or described on film or in the description, as an educational video. It is instead, in contrast, created/ delivered as a fishing video and features people who are presenting themselves as fisherman. BIG problem and a major omission/ negligence. As such, this guy and a video such as yours gives others the idea and permission to engage in the same conduct -- a milking of chum and/or the other species -- kings, silvers, reds and/or pinks -- of their roe; not to mention other species being targeted for their roe, such as rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, steelhead and many more. This is why I take the position I take. With 40+ years of experience in the outdoors and in many years, more than 150 days in field, and a formally trained naturalist and conservationist, with many followers/ viewers/ readers/ friends, I get a great many inquiries as regards videos and other content online -- requests to review and vet or comment/ give feedback on what is presented by others. In this case, yourself and those on your video. In addition, I've witnessed and know of countless violations of the regs. Harassment of salmon, particularly chum, tops the list. Given your video is not an official Alaska Dept of Fish & Game production, and the alleged "fish and game dept" employee isn't engaging in an official capacity, obviously -- he is not in uniform; fails to identify himself as an ADFG fisheries biologist; etc -- yours is a video that misrepresents. More specifically, your video shows a group of anglers, none of whom identify themselves as an ADFG fisheries biologist; all persuing salmon in ultra shallow water which is clearly their spawning grounds and thus, are acutely vulnerable -- be it to flossing, which is a fancy term for snagging, intentionally snagging at that, which is what flossing is, and removal of a fish from the water, which is also illegal unless the fish is retained for consumption, and wasting of any meat source also an illegal act, and the milking of any salmon of its roe yet another prohibited act. All of this is an illegal action per the SOA Sports Fishing Regulations. Yet your video presents it all as being perfectly fine and dandy to do. Hence, a major problem and it's not just myself who takes issue with it.
