A crowd of people in Iran gather to watch the execution of a young girl. She cries and begs everyone for help. Horrified, people look away as the girl is about to get hanged, but one particular bystander cannot remain silent.
Leni Rico plays one of the basiji or guard who takes the girl to be hanged.

After qualifying, For the Birds (2014) was submitted to the Academy of Arts and Science upon October 1, 2014 for consideration in the 87th Academy Awards Short Film Category along with another 140 other films.
