  • This week's quick tip is in response to questions I got about the bag pictured in the thumbnail. Don't be afraid to try to quilt your bag. It's easier than you might think.

    What size needle do you use for quilting your vinyl? Thank you!

      I use a Groz-Beckert 130/21 for pretty much all my sewing projects.

    Thank you for the video, love it. I may have asked before--sorry if I have but what model Juki do you have please.

    Have you tried the blue painters tape? It leaves no residue behind.

      I did. You can see in one of the samples that there are still pieces of the tape stuck around the stitches. The bag in the thumbnail is the most recent quilted one I did, and I ran into the issue of the blue painter's tape leaving residue, which is why I switched up my methods. I tried everything to get it off, but it only ruined the white stitching. It was not a cheap issue to have since the bag was a commission. I had to completely redo the panels. I think it was due to the tape being old, but I can't be sure as I'd just purchased it. Something to keep in mind.
      (I say "masking tape" in the video as more of a general term.)

    Is headliner cheaper? Im gonna need a lot of practice fabric for this. Turned out beautiful

      I do find it to be more cost effective. I get it at Joann for $14.99 a yard, but it's 54 inches wide. So I'm getting more for my money.

    Nice bag.
    Why did you use decovil and foam?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  3 года назад +1

      The foam that I use (automotive headliner foam) tends to be a bit less stiff than traditional sewing foams. For this particular bag, I was looking for a bit more structure than what the foam alone would give. The Decovil light was perfect in this case.
