    How often do I water the freshly planted seeds?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 года назад +2

      If they are in a cool place, just keep them wet until they sprout. I usually water the fresh seedlings once and wait until they sprout. Once sprout, then you can water seedlings every 2-3 days. Water to keep soil moist but not soggy. Overwatering will cause damping off and kill seedlings. Thanks for getting in touch!

      Spinach is a cold crop and I usually don't have much problem with bugs in cold. One of the best options for protecting leafy crops in pots is to cover them with garden netting ( amzn.to/3H8i85W ). In case you need to use any pest control, neem oil mix amzn.to/48Gt0n9 or spinosad mix amzn.to/48Gt0n9 are organic options you can use. • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад

      Hello. Glad you love the video. I do not cover seed trays, rather just keep the soil moist. And I don't use grow lights. Spinach is a cool weather crop and you can keep sprouted seedlings outside to get early morning sunlight (and bring them inside in the evenings). But if it is freezing or you don't get any sunlight, strong grow lights will work too. Hope this helps and thank you so much for your comment.

    Will the spinach roots actually fill up a 10lb grow bag?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 года назад +1

      If you mean 10 gallon bags, then I don't suggest more than 5-6 plants per 10 gallon. But if you want to plant individually, a 3 gallon grow bag will be ok and you don't need a 10 gallon. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for visiting.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  2 года назад +2

      Spinach grows well in cool weather and warm condition may slow down growing. Also fungus in the garden soil may damage the seedling roots. Growing in seed starting mix helps you control the growing conditions such as temperature and soil. I suggest to provide some shade for your seedling in the box and start few more in the seed trays to have a better chance of healthy plants. Thank you for visiting and good luck!

    It looks like you plant two seeds per cube and don't separate the two plants when you move them to their final home. Is that right? Two will grow together with no problem? I have always heard if planted too close together plants will be competing for space and inhibit each others growth.

      Usually when you hit hot weather, the plant goes bolting and start flowering. Keep water the plant and the flowers will produce seed at the end of the plant life. Thank for visiting.
