  • Hi, welcome back to another video on the channel! For this week's entry, we take a first look at the amazing Czech railway network! I am a massive fan of these railways, thanks to their quality, value, and punctuality.
    This particular journey was taken on-board an InterPanter unit, recently built by Škoda in Czechia, which is interesting as Škoda is well known for its cars and buses - but they make trains as well! These units work on routes mostly from Brno, running to both Praha (Prague), and Olomouc on semi-fast express trains. I found them to be very nice, check out the video to see why!
    During the video I reference a FREE live rail cam at one of the locations en-route, which you can find at this link: www.mall.tv/vlaky-a-tramvaje/...
    ---
    Journey Details:
    Origin: Kolín
    Destination: Brno hlavní nádraží (Brno main station)
    Company: České Dráhy
    Train: ČD 660 'InterPanter'
    Accommodation: Second Class Seat (2nd)
    Distance: 119 miles / 191 kilometres
    Time: 2h12m

    That request stop button is placed in Interpanter because it operates the local service sometimes. For example a Svitava train arrives to Praha Main st. and it continues to Praha-Radotin as a local train. Local trains need to have those buttons. Between the Main Station and Praha-Smíchov station you will find the train as both (local/fast) service. After few local rides it goes back to Brno from Radotín.

    I think you're the first person I've ever seen, refering to the Czech Republic as "Czechia" :o) But as it's how the Czechs now want their country to be known, good move and I respect it.

    Brno station was closed because of track refurbishments (main station as a whole and all sections around it, to Židenice or Černovice stations for example). Also main station was fitted with new signalling system and few other things that are not visible for a passenger. 🙂 Bonus points for boarding in my hometown! 😀

    Nice review! InterPanter is a nice train, but it has several imperfections, such as noisier chassis and a divided first class in several sections - from personal experience, the 1st class is not very pleasant due to its location. I think for longer distance (for example Praha/Prardubice - Brno) is better to take some EC or Railjet.. :-D

    Thanks for the review! Good points. While most of us prefer the older loco-hauled EC trains with private compartments, Interpanters are really handy with all the bike racks, a lot of storage and the low-floor-ness.
    Regarding Brno, not much has changed passenger-wise except a general "humanization" such as restored old paint works, graffiti, new ticket desks, new IT, new seatings and a new main entry gate instead of old doors that were here before. The subway part still resembles the golden socialist days...
    Railway infrastructure wise a lot has changed - new rails, pre-heated switches and sleepers, new railway bridge right behind the station, a major switch from old manual systems to a fully automated and remote-controlled systems and a brand new building for dispatchers.

    • @SuperalbsTravels
      @SuperalbsTravels  4 года назад +2

      Hello, yes your points about Brno do make sense, I did not check those after all. And yes, I would prefer the EC or RJ, but unfortunately this was the most convenient train for me. It was nice! :) Most trains in Czechia are extremely good quality.

    Nice video, why you are in Czechia (my sweet homeland) ? And I hope , you are going to review Railjet and Pendolino trains( ones of my favourites). I also recommend Regionova one - cheap reconstruction of older two axles motor units , which are riding all over czech republic( I the Kolín for example on the first platform in your video) and are a bit noisy, but as time goes, they grow up to my heart.

      Hello, I have now left Czechia, I did so in March 2020 after a three day trip. 🇨🇿
      I have been on a few trains in the country though, I have recorded videos on these trains:
      RegioJet (Astra)
      EuroNight METROPOL (T1)
      ČD RailJet
      Leo Express
      ČD 362 + Business Class (Former OeBB Compartment)
      DB RegioSwinger
      ČD InterPanter (this video!)
      RegioJet (PSO 2nd)
      ČD Goggle + hauled stock
      I'll see what I can do when I get back there with regards to the SuperCity fleet, they are very very nice. :)

    Okay this is very informative you seem have improved for the information. Some thoughts
    1. The first station, the one you depart seems bland, sorry just saying
    2.The features on seat seems quite complete/nice such as table, trash bin, etc
    3 . bright lamp!!!, finally
    3.the color scheme of the chairs looks nice.
    4.The vending machine in the train sounds fun.
    5.And are there doors that connect the section from other carriages? I think if there's door, the noise will be reduced
    6.the window shed is good for protecting your privacy.
    Overall the trip is great.
    Thanks for the video

    • @Jan-fg2if
      @Jan-fg2if 4 года назад

      Regarding the doors between carriages: Most modern european EMUs do not have doors there. Instead, they are articulated like the new Stadler sets for Greater Anglia. The gangways have a better seal, so noise isn't a big concern. There are, however, doors between the vestibule area around the doors and the seating area, which is great during long station dwell times.

    • @Jan-fg2if
      @Jan-fg2if 4 года назад

      Still, I must say, there are many trains with better, wider gangways than this one.

      3. Yes.
      Other 3. It does look nice.
      4. Yes, it was a surprise. Don't see it very often.
      5. There is no door, but it was okay.
      6. Yes.

      Currently the 'Hungaria' that you describe runs Hamburg to Budapest, over nearly 14 hours. It uses recently refurbished MÁV coaches, with Czech locomotives. An interesting one for sure.

    A little info: ČD is not only nation operator, this sign is also for Leo Express since September 2019 and also RegioJet since May 2020. Because the OS, Sp and R trains is providet only by ČD, but also others. Like the R train of line R22 from Kolín to Rumburk which is since Deember 2019 providet by Arriva. There were many changes on December 2019. And other are comming. Because many contracts between ČD and Ministry of Transportation (who ordering R and Ex trains) are ending soon.
