I also like how the father just seemed to be ok with everything (or, that's the impression I get from the story), after being explained that her wife not inducing can cause both her wife and child to die.
"God please save us from all these diseases" "Okay here's a bunch of doctors and an entire industry of medical science" "Ew no just use magic on it or something"
Once in Scripture, a leperous general came to God's prophet for healing, but he was told to go wash in the Jordan river 7 times to be cured. Rather than be grateful for the cure, he got all huffy that the prophet didn't just "wave his hand over [his] face and heal [him]." That's a direct quote.
@@ziowar2176 My dad had a joke about that. A man's house was about to be destroyed by a flood, so an officer told him to get in the car. He refused, saying "God will protect me." He did the same thing when a boat tried to save him, and when a helicopter tried to save him. After he drowned and went to heaven, he asked God why He didn't save him. God says, "What more do you want? I sent a police car, a boat, and a helicopter."
Here's Hot Rod This reminds of a story in religion class(not religious myself). A man was told by god that he would take care of him. When a flood happened, the man’s neighbour came on a boat and offered to help. The man: Oh it’s okay, god will take care of me. The neighbour left. Later on a rescue boat came. The man told them the same thing. Soon the man drowned, still believing that god would take care of him. In heaven the man asked god why he didn’t take care of him. God: But I did. I sent your neighbour to help you. And later I sent that rescue team too. You turned both away. Moral of the story: Don’t expect god to protect you in form of miracles. Again, not religious, but this is something that religious people should consider.
I am very religious myself but God won't come to earth to interfere with your choices. The theorem is called theodicy and if that woman ever thought about her religion she would know that God values your freedom more than you not making mistakes. In the end it's always your responsibility

so that woman killed her full-grown baby and wasn't charged with anything but some states and countries arrest women for aborting at 3 months of gestation? that's insane
Milena Heldt some states it’s illegal to abort after 6 weeks. If a woman has her period roughly every 4-5 weeks they wouldn’t even know they were pregnant yet unless they were testing for it consistently.
@@ShuichiMin57 I mean I care about the babies *and* the mothers. Too much of pro-life (and pro-choice tbh) is focused on the actual act of abortion, when what we really need to do is support the mothers and give them other options than the ones they have. Help them get access to supplies for their children, give them therapeutic help and support to get them through the pregnancy. Break down the stigma around single/young parents. Hold the fathers more responsible. Give parents decent paternal leave (there are third world countries with better paternal leave then us, come on). And of course fix our broken and disgusting foster care system, so if mothers want to give their children to adoption they won't feel guilt/fear at what could happen to them. We need to give better options to our mothers, and I feel like that's something both pro-choice and pro-life can agree on, and can work together on. Giving better support and more options for pregnant women and breaking down all these toxic stigmas and environments is better for *everyone*, and I really feel like combining forces and pouring more resources into stuff like that would be more effective than being at each other's throats over abortion. Sorry this got so long! I've been holding it in for a while, lol.
@@ThatCrazyBookWyrm yeah, i agree theres a lot of things that can be done before it comes to abortion and i hope every aspect you mentioned can be greatly improved at some point, but i also don't think it's okay to force someone to go through such a difficult proccess if they really don't want it. if people just can't be convinced to go through it or they have particular characteristics thatd put the pregnant person in danger, i don't think any of the those things would help a lot. so, yeah, i think youre totally right, but i dont think everything will be that flawless everytime.
@Thibault DereseWith the attitude presented in the story? No way in hell she'd ever be a good parent. Neglectful, abusive, possibly even to a lethal degree for any kids in her care, born by her or not... On the overdue baby thing, god gave the lady a test and she failed it. By her logic mostly. I’m not gonna state my belief, but it logically makes sense.
I'm not Christian, but isn't the consensus "God has no hands other than our own"? It feels like God would have put the doctors on this earth and in her path to help her, yknow
I remember a story, don't remember where I heard it from but it involved a man drowning at sea. Whenever someone on a boat came around and offered help, the man would simply tell them "God will save me". The man eventually drowned and when he did, he asked why God hadn't saved him. God's reply? "I sent three boats to rescue you, but you turned them all away". Probably not the exact line, but that's the general gist of it. And honestly, that woman probably would have ended up just like the man in the story if she had been drowning. Her poor child certainly paid the price for her sheer stupidity...
Yep. In her mind, women who get early abortions are probably 'murderers', but causing your *fully developed* child to die due to your medical neglect is A-ok and a perfectly *Christian* thing to do.
Vi Haze you clearly don’t know why a lot of people are against abortion. It’s that they are against it for serious medical cases, it’s for people who use it in stead of contraception or just abstinence, which is seen as no better than murder. Of course trying to logically explain and rationalize this viewpoint is often dismissed in the grounds of many people disagreeing with their choice of faith.
@@jamreviews9547 I don't know how it's in the US, but here in Germany that's not true You can't just have an abortion, you have to talk about it with licensed people and it is extremely expensive (in my opinion at least) If you forget to use protection, you can buy a pill for like 30 Euros, much cheaper than an abortion (but also not recommended, just use protection, people) And not to mention the potential physical and emotional trauma and injuries that may be caused during the process No sane woman would casually use abortion as a kind of late contraceptive, it's just not worth it And if there are women who don't think this through and actually use it as a late contraception, then I am sure that that's just a small percentage, and I can't imagine them doing this more than once

This’d be an especially big concern here where I live since most of people that do that sort of stuff end up getting away with it and even if they do they only stay in prison for about a week or two, leading to many many many cases of the imprisoned being let go nearly with no consequences and taking a (in most cases) brutal revenge on whoever they had a grudge with
I mean, every word can be said in a polite or a rude manner, and EM most likely use the rude manner, the rude manner is sorta like a "you are an inconvenience or doing something wrong but idk what it is to blame you for so I'm using this term to express how annoyed I am and threaten you to do stuff I order you to like a dog" type of word, which is a really Karen thing to do so it's pretty fitting for their role

The lady who didn't get induced is going to be confused when she's kicked out of heaven, she kills her child then blames god, then says she's going to try for another one what is wrong with her?
"God's will", huh? Reminds me of a fable that I was told long ago. It went something like a person was at their home and warned several times by various people that they must leave due to an impending flood. The person each time refuses, saying that God will save them. The person eventually drowns and goes to Heaven. While in Heaven, the person asks God why he didn't save them. God replies that he tried, sending all of those people to warn him. Makes me think it was God's will that the midwife was there to advise the woman on her pregnancy.
I heard that story differently. So a guy is out fishing on his boat, and he sees clouds in the distance. A person on a motorboat comes up and tells him to head to shore, and the guy says “Oh no, God will protect me”. Then a larger boat goes past and the people on it tell the guy to head to shore. The guy says “Oh no, God will protect me” Then a helicopter goes by, and tell the guy to head to shore. The guy says “Oh no, God will protect me. He died in the storm, and then he asks why God didn’t protect him. God does a facepalm and tells him that he sent the small motorboat, the larger motorboat, and the helicopter to tell him to head to shore, and he didn’t listen.
To big ones: God helps those who help themselves (I've used this to partially convince some stubborn parents that mental health is important) God has a purpose for everyone, the doctors are there for a reason.
The EM with the baby actually made me mad. I'm the oldest of 8, and I talk with my mum about pregnancy stuff because why not, she knows a lot. The fact this woman didn't think she was in the wrong when she willingly killed her baby? Disgusting. Being induced isn't bad - it's a matter of life or death.

The story about the woman needing to be induced reminded me about the story of the day my brother was born, thought i would share because i find it interesting. My Mom and Dad didn't have the best relationship mostly stemming from neither having healthy family lives as kids. my dad became an angry person who had to control everything, and my mom was so desperate to keep her husband happy she did things she would never otherwise do (they're separated now and worked on a lot of their personal issues). when she was pregnant with my brother my dad was absolutely against her getting check ups with doctors for any reason, meaning no ultra sounds, no meds, nothing. for the most part she was fine with it, though nervous as this was her first child, but then she started feeling sick a lot and she started getting mini fake labors (Forget what they're called) so finally she went in just to be sure everything was ok. the doctors looked at her and my oversized brother and told her she was late and needed to be induced right away to help save my brother. scared but confused she explained to the doctored she had only been pregnant 8 months but they assured her there was no way my brother was only 8 months along. she told me they induced her and she was in pain for several days trying to force my brother out, when she tells me this story she tells me shes not sure how long it actually was, but she was in so much pain and so tired that at one point she waved a nurse over and whispered to her asking the nurse to let her die, but to save the baby. they got her into a C-section right away. My brother was born with a slight heart condition and under developed tear ducts, he had surgery before one and is a very healthy nearly 30 year-old now.

@@grynnreaper6266 It can in a lot of the inbetween shades. In white people, I don't think being "white enough" is an issue. But for latinxs and black people, the amount of melanin in your skin can make or break. I am Latina and I have been called French, Iranian, Russian. I am very pale and my nose is more european looking due to the stronger spanish genes as opposed to my grandmothers warmer brown skin. So I feel removed from my culture, often not good enough in appearance to be labelled one, and because I pass as white, I get privalege. I think I needed to hear that story about the pregnant woman. My son was five days overdue and my doctor scheduled me for an induction. I wanted it to happen naturally, but I went in for the appointment anyways. His concern was that my baby would poop in the womb and breath it in. I ended up having a c-section because he was NOT coming out. It’s a good thing we did because he pooped AS SOON AS they got him out. "Induced" and life-threatening ... confuses me. My brother A was carried for 11 months. She went to the hospital two weeks early after having some contractions. But on the 35 mile drive (yeah, Montana doesn't have hospitals every 5 miles) the contractions stopped. The doctor (the ONLY doctor doing obstetrics) said to come back when the contractions started again. THEN he went on vacation for a month and a half. So Mom and stepdad went back home. No contractions. TWO MONTHS LATER, the doctor's office calls and DEMANDS to know why she hadn't come in for her post-natal care. "What post natal care?" "Well you gave birth two months ago." "I did not. I'm still waiting for contractions to start again like the doctor instructed me." pregnant pause "Come in as soon as possible." (Note they'd called to ask the doctor about it but he wasn't in office, he was on vacation. Without a backup.) They induced labor, but an 11.6 pound kid was a lot to deal with and the doctor wasn't competent enough to notice that a C-section would have been a better idea. Her uterus was torn a bit and she ended up with some scarring, which she didn't know about. Nothing mentioned by the doctor at the time anyway. When she had her third kid, my brother C, it meant that the placenta tore at 7 months and they had to endure a dry carriage for two months. (He had no lasting problems.) Meanwhile, A came out fine, healthy, etc. with one small problem. Children develop physically on a schedule. When you're born at 9 months, your eyes are ready to start learning how to focus at distances. Because of the extra 2 months, during which time his eye muscles strengthened in place, he had a pronounced strabismus (crossed eyes that don't respond to the brain's signals to change what they look at) and they had to do two operations, one per eye, to weaken the over-strengthened eye muscles. As a result, his eyes now STRONGLY reflect the light coming in so flash photos all give him scary red eyes. There was nothing said about Mom or my unborn brother being at risk, though of course it could have been an issue.
I'm very glad your sibling came out fine but I can attest as a mother that HAS to be induced, because for reasons unknown my brain doesnt send the signal to start labor, it CAN be very dangerous my first child was three weeks late and about three days from being dead because my placenta calcified (hardened), and he was slowly starving to death because no nutrients were getting to him. But you are also correct it has been recorded many times mother's being many months late and the baby being fine. See the problem was she didn't even take the steps to make sure the baby would be fine if she had seen the doctor on the regular basis as instructed they could have let her know that the baby's health was declining or that her placenta was rotting. They cant force her to be induced but to make sure the little life she carry's is healthy is the JOB GOD gave her. Maybe if she had seen that her child was dying maybe she would have changed her mind but now she may never have kids cause a rotted placenta can cause lasting damage to the uterus. Serves her right for not appreciating the gift god gave her.
Your mother and siblings were lucky. Either she or her babies could have easily ended up dead. The reason labor is induced around week 40 if labor hasn't started is because the placenta doesn't last forever. After week 40 it starts to deteriorate and doesn't pass enough nutrients to the baby, and as in the story above it can start to rot causing sepsis. It's always best to listen to the doctors.
Hey R/Slash, here's a little, story for you. I was working on a Sunday last year, and I work as a life guard. I was on duty, and so was my friend. We'll call her Lilly. Lilly was on duty on the pool next to us. The pool she was watching, was filled of younger children, cause it was the shallow one, and the one I was watching was a little deeper, and meant for children above the age of 12, unless they pass the swimming test(which means they had to float in the deepest part of the pool for two minutes, and be able to swim without struggling.) Lilly walked up to me and asked if she could go grab her lunch, while I watched both pools. I said sure, and she walked inside. Here comes the fun. I looked away from the pool is as originally watching, and looked at the shallow one. Making sure everything was alright, and everyone was doing okay, and having fun, when suddenly my leg is smacked by EM. Em: you need to watch my son, he could drown. Me; ma'am, if your son is in the deeper end of the pool and had a hard time swimming, perhaps he should move to the shallow pool? Em: no! My son WANTS to swim in the deep end. Me: ma'am, how old is your son? Em: 7 Me; ma'am, he isn't supposed to be in the deep end being that young. Once my fellow life guard comes back from lunch, I'll be more then glad to give him the swimming test. Em: he knows how to swim Me; I'm aware ma'am. Em; watch my son, so he doesn't drown Me; I have other children to watch, and you're being very distracting. So I'm going to have to ask you to leave me alone, so I can do my job do nobody drowns. The em Huff's and puffs then walks away- before coming BACK with my boss, who looks furious. Boss: did you tell her you didn't care if her son drowned? Me, completely stunned she'd say this: no, of course not. I said her son needs to complete the swimming test so he can be allowed to stay in the deep pool. Em: nOoooO you said my son could die! Boss: [blank] go to my office. Em basically Huff's triumphantly. When I got to his office, he said I wasn't fired it anything, that once Em left I'd be able to go back on duty. (Ofc by now Lilly was back)

That kind of “he threatened me with a gun” overreaction makes my blood boil. That kind of hissy fit can get innocent people hurt and/or killed. Granted, our current social climate has stigmatized firearms, which is quite sad. Please seek out some training, even if you don’t intend on owning a gun. It will help you understand its importance, and you’ll learn how to safely handle, unload, or even use one in a dire emergency. It’s a very good life skill to have under your personal “tool belt”.
Honestly when I am of age I plan to apply for a license to carry a concealed fire arm, just because you can never be too safe and it’s always helpful to have

We are cousin who are only 11 days apart, but we were supposed to both be born on the 16th and be cousin-twins. True. As a Christian, I say if God provides a solution, don't complain about what it looks like. That's called a choosing beggar.
Once in Scripture, a leperous general came to God's prophet for healing, but he was told to go wash in the Jordan river 7 times to be cured. Rather than be grateful for the cure, he got all huffy that the prophet didn't just "wave his hand over [his] face and heal [him]." That's a direct quote.
potaterjim people were made smart for a reason I mean yes God has healed people but you have to be mindful sometimes Gods answer is to go to a doctor.
Lady: God save my baby
God: Sent her a bunch of doctors
Lady: I’ll let it be in God’s hands
God and doctors: wtf
@@Novice9241 something my (very) religious grampa taught me was that god does miracles, but doesn't ALWAYS use them to guide others

so that woman killed her full-grown baby and wasn't charged with anything but some states and countries arrest women for aborting at 3 months of gestation? that's insane
Milena Heldt some states it’s illegal to abort after 6 weeks. If a woman has her period roughly every 4-5 weeks they wouldn’t even know they were pregnant yet unless they were testing for it consistently.
that just makes it clear, that people don't really care about the babies, they only want to control other people's bodies

"I sent three boats to rescue you, but you turned them all away".

@@jamreviews9547 I don't know how it's in the US, but here in Germany that's not true
You can't just have an abortion, you have to talk about it with licensed people and it is extremely expensive (in my opinion at least)
If you forget to use protection, you can buy a pill for like 30 Euros, much cheaper than an abortion (but also not recommended, just use protection, people)
And not to mention the potential physical and emotional trauma and injuries that may be caused during the process
No sane woman would casually use abortion as a kind of late contraceptive, it's just not worth it
And if there are women who don't think this through and actually use it as a late contraception, then I am sure that that's just a small percentage, and I can't imagine them doing this more than once

The term is elitism. This is the root of most if not all known prejudices
Bro being mexican and not “dark enough” makes it so freaking frustrating.. people try to be little you calling guera and all thats is frustrating especially coming from family members
I have a question, its like my brain is itchy, but is it still racism if its the same race? Like calling someone white trash is that racism when you're white? Is it like the same thing? It's still terrible obviously. Not being a dick I just figured I have a question and you might have an answer. Plus I live in Ontario and I have never met a Mexican so i am curious if you guys see it the same way as the white calling other white "white trash"
The worst part is that it goes both ways so you can never win! In some places being too light skinned is a problem but then a lot of Mexican media put up very light skinned people as the pinnacle of beauty. WTF can't they all see that there is beauty in every shade?!
For those of us who have more melanin, they are assumed bumpkins, poorly- educated, from the ghetto, and such. One of my cousins back in the land of my parents graduated in computer science, but since she has muuuch darker skin that I do and lives in a rural village in Central America, she is deemed less educated on appearance alone, even within her own country. I will never personally know the struggles unless they hear me speak spanish or hear my full name, but hispanics are very racist against each other. They only really band together through people being racist to latinos hispanos as a whole.
My friend, on the other hand, is a mixed girl. One parent was black, the other was latinx/white mix. Her skin is olive in tone. She is often told she is too light skinned to truly be black, but she also doesn't pass as white on account to the kinky afro. It sometimes weighs on her because she can't fit within the three parts of her
Yup I get that. I'm pretty light skinned myself, and get ask am I sure I'm Mexican lol annoying.

I keep looking at the whole experience as a bad one, but hearing that story... The concerning part is the amount of women that kid will hurt before going to jail
Eventually he'll get caught, but in the interim he'll think that he can get away with doing whatever he wants. And if/when things finally catch up to him, mom will be screaming the whole time about her baby being an "angel" and would *never* do anything wrong, and that it was all the girl's fault.

Without a backup.)
They induced labor, but an 11.6 pound kid was a lot to deal with and the doctor wasn't competent enough to notice that a C-section would have been a better idea. Her uterus was torn a bit and she ended up with some scarring, which she didn't know about. Nothing mentioned by the doctor at the time anyway. When she had her third kid, my brother C, it meant that the placenta tore at 7 months and they had to endure a dry carriage for two months. (He had no lasting problems.)
Meanwhile, A came out fine, healthy, etc. with one small problem.
Stephen Hutchison what year was this? Maybe that’s why, medicine has advanced a lot, also the doctor in your story sounds very irresponsible

Em: 7
Me; ma'am, he isn't supposed to be in the deep end being that young. Once my fellow life guard comes back from lunch, I'll be more then glad to give him the swimming test.
Em: he knows how to swim
Me; I'm aware ma'am.
Em; watch my son, so he doesn't drown
Me; I have other children to watch, and you're being very distracting.

Honestly when I am of age I plan to apply for a license to carry a concealed fire arm, just because you can never be too safe and it’s always helpful to have
Just in case I mean
I am very glad my dad taught me early how to act around guns. I have two now to protect myself.
And if I can't get to those for some reason, I do also have a compound bow 😉
that was pretty irresponsible and could've ended up someone being shot considering US police and how serious they have to take such claims
My dad told me if someone had a gun without a license then I need to run or call my parents. My dad owns a gun has had one sense I was 8 he hid it in a different place every time I was over so I would never find it. Good parenting

In some places, criminal miscarriages are prosecuted, usually for things like drug usage leading to fetal death. These laws can be used as a tool to restrict abortion however, and sometimes women who miscarry through tragedy or sickness are prosecuted as well. I once knew a lady who purposely drank herself into miscarriage to prevent having her 8th (Yes, 8th!) child bc she could not afford another one or access proper medical care.
