Speaking of pansexual, I happen to be one, and had people say a lot along those lines. What they don't grasp is the fact that even as LGBT we are still people with a Brain. When it comes to gender identity/norms I try to do little things for people. Once I saw a kid doing splits out of boredom while his mom was buying groceries. "Hey mom, look what I can do!" "Don't do that, boys don't do splits." Without drawing attention from the mom (I was working, so I didn't want to risk a scene) I told the kid that he did pretty good. I don't know how much that mattered in the end, but I believe little moments like that are important. *EDIT: I'm glad people liked my story, but I think it came across a bit wrong. The mom was barely paying attention and I don't think she really meant any harm. She certainly didn't seem angry or hostile. It didn't seem like a big moment for the kid either. I try to do stuff like this because of a PSA I saw once. There was a montage of a little girl growing up and hearing stuff like 'Who's my pretty girl?' 'Careful, don't get your dress dirty.' 'Whoa! Maybe let your brother handle that.' And it showed how those little moments, which might seem harmless at the time to the person who said them, can add up and shape a kid's personality. The more people who contribute to societal change, the faster it comes, and I don't have kids of my own to raise and teach.

The story about the person with Aspergers' Syndrome and who has a stutter, that describes me exactly as well. It's always wonderful seeing how patient and understanding wait staff and other employees are when it comes to my stutter and my Aspergers'. One of the few things I can consistently say without stuttering is 'Sorry, I have a stutter' and then they're super patient, it's actually wholesome. It often takes me a full minute to get a single sentence out, so it's always surprising how patient people can be. That sort of thing is what increases my faith in humanity sometimes.

The story about the abusive husband. WOW. I can’t believe her family reacted like that, that is so terrible! I was similarly in an abusive relationship with my ex-fiancé. I was really isolated since I was living in a foreign country, and didn’t realize his behavior was abusive until he started physically attacking me. I reached out to the expat community there about advice and was laughed at. I attempted suicide several times because of this. I was really lucky that once my family found out, they supported me. My mom had to talk my dad down from flying over and “taking care” of my ex. We hardly talk about it now, but I am still so thankful for their support, which is why my heart breaks for OP’s sister.

This is why the suicide rate is so high. Transitioning socially and physically are the only way to properly help them. Even if it doesnt solve all the mental pain they go through and how often people around them still will not accept them, making even transitioning hard to still be a cure due to transphobia. It is not a fantasy, it is a real cause, dont mistake it! (Im aware alot of people like to frame it as if its a choice they just want, but thats propaganda)

When it comes to gender identity/norms I try to do little things for people. Once I saw a kid doing splits out of boredom while his mom was buying groceries.
"Hey mom, look what I can do!"
"Don't do that, boys don't do splits."
Without drawing attention from the mom (I was working, so I didn't want to risk a scene) I told the kid that he did pretty good.
I don't know how much that mattered in the end, but I believe little moments like that are important.

I'm glad people liked my story, but I think it came across a bit wrong. The mom was barely paying attention and I don't think she really meant any harm. She certainly didn't seem angry or hostile. It didn't seem like a big moment for the kid either.
I try to do stuff like this because of a PSA I saw once. There was a montage of a little girl growing up and hearing stuff like 'Who's my pretty girl?' 'Careful, don't get your dress dirty.' 'Whoa! Maybe let your brother handle that.' And it showed how those little moments, which might seem harmless at the time to the person who said them, can add up and shape a kid's personality.
The more people who contribute to societal change, the faster it comes, and I don't have kids of my own to raise and teach.

In all weddings that I've been to, the wedding cake has been pretty much the centerpiece of the whole setup, not tucked somewhere to the side and half hidden. Impossible for someone to start tampering with it without anyone noticing, unless everybody left the room at the same time for some reason.

The story about the abusive husband. WOW. I can’t believe her family reacted like that, that is so terrible! I was similarly in an abusive relationship with my ex-fiancé. I was really isolated since I was living in a foreign country, and didn’t realize his behavior was abusive until he started physically attacking me. I reached out to the expat community there about advice and was laughed at. I attempted suicide several times because of this. I was really lucky that once my family found out, they supported me. My mom had to talk my dad down from flying over and “taking care” of my ex. We hardly talk about it now, but I am still so thankful for their support, which is why my heart breaks for OP’s sister.

You seem like you arent educated on it rather than transphobic-
Trans people have a disconnect from their body due to a sort of handicap (easy way to call it) that can cause then extreme stress, depression, anxiety, even trauma. This is why the suicide rate is so high. Transitioning socially and physically are the only way to properly help them. Even if it doesnt solve all the mental pain they go through and how often people around them still will not accept them, making even transitioning hard to still be a cure due to transphobia.
It is not a fantasy, it is a real cause, dont mistake it! (Im aware alot of people like to frame it as if its a choice they just want, but thats propaganda)
@@GarrettBot Except not having your legal documentation reflect properly across the board tends to lead to unnecessary felony charges of fraud and identity theft, as well as making the trans person more likely to be harassed, discriminated against, fired from their job or refused emergency medical treatment. Now, I honestly don't care what you think about trans people, nothing you could say could make me change my stance, but the fact is that even "small" things like legal congruence are hugely important. (Even recently married women who change their last names are sometimes accused of fraud -- they can tell you, it is not a small matter at all).

They are not faking anything, the only solution for them backed by science (including the APA, the WHO and the DSM5) is to present and live in a way that is congruent with their gender (note: 'gender' and 'sex' are actually two different things entirely, and it is often difficult for people to get the difference unless they've been misgendered themselves). Trans people who are unable to live congruently for any number of reasons (and the vitriolic ignorance of other people is one of them) are approximately 50% likely to attempt suicide. That is not "for attention" -- it is because living incongruently in this way for so long is what a psychiatrist might call "a fucking minefield". I'm glad you can see why legal documentation is so important for anyone, let alone trans people, but again, I'm not interested in being converted to anything.
