Many of my projects have featured Anderson Power Pole connectors in a wide variety of sizes. They were not used in this project intentionally. Your statement seems to assume that XT60/90 was once dominant here and that is simply untrue. This was a MINIMALIST approach and all you need to install is a single XT60 which will work almost universally with Chinese portable panel kits, I felt it was the right choice for this particular project. Beware of the imported anderson housings, they are absolute crap, especially if exposed to the elements. Now, if you are talking about the 12V auto connector, I will disagree there as well, nearly every portable radio I have reviewed recently has the 12V DC outlet connector already installed on it, again minimalist approach. No need to chop up harnesses and add a bunch of connectors that make the item nearly useless in a random car or truck. Thank you for your comment. I really do like Anderson Connectors, but for this project? Nope.
@@bonezed SB350? for a 50Ah battery? That's not a great solution. MC4's (from China) seem to also have a pretty wide interpretation of the specification on what a true MC4 really is. I do use SB50 on many projects, but EVERY portable panel I have from china has a cable terminated with the XT60. Hope all is well down there! Thank you for the comment.
Great question! During use and during charge the four charge level indicators provide enough information to handle that job, not precise, but plenty accurate for a minimalist approach. The charger cuts off the charge at the top and kicks the load off on the low side. I've found the BMS on the cell does a great job of protecting itself from over discharge as well, a problem with other packs I have tested. Thank you for your comment!

I love the way you decorated your solar testing facility! :)
LOL! Thank you! It's early .22 period decor...
Such a great little build. Thank you for sharing.
Very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
GREAT BUILD
Thank you!
Most of the world in emergency operations have switched to Power Poles for connectors. Still a great project!

Not in Australia, it's original Anderson (Standard SB350) or MC4

So no BT connection to either the battery or controller? How are you monitoring battery charge levels?
