Addiction needs to cause harm. Controlled usage with proper health+hormone monitoring, off-cycle protocols, and low doses isn’t harmful. At least not in any substantial, measurable way.
Great video. Im a R.N in the ER ive seen a 21 year old man that died after his aorta ruptured. From the nipples up his skin color turned almost black well purple really. It was horrific. I' ll never forget it and his young pregnant wife . she has never been the same. Vice did such a great job. 😢😢
It really is infuriating tho. I work my ass of twice a day and cant look anywhere near these influencers. Its so tempting to get on drugs knowing if i just trained the same as now id look totally different but i figure im about to turn 33 if i still feel the same at 35 ill get on TRT.
@ghagzor no offense mate. But never have a looked at a roid user and wanted to look like that. I'm quite happy being naturally muscular and still be able to put my arms down
@@ghagzorThey might look good but 5-10 years down the line.... A friend of mine is on it he looked crazy in 6 months could lift more then me and I was lifting 6 years at that point. But now he has gyno and his girlfriend told me he cant get hard. I say stay natty and maybe when you're really old hop on trt. Ive seen natural lifters have high test levels in their 50's higher than most 20ers. And they look great due to good diets and ALOT of high intensity cardio/lifting. If you take steroids or TRT remember that you can have irreversible damage and you will have to inject for the rest of your life. TRT can be healthy but high test injections can lead to gyno, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, blood thickening, clots, and heart failure followed by premature death. Take care of your body and actually put in work before doing anything radical. Youll be amazed how good a natty can look with proper diet, discipline and rest.
@@ghagzor maybe you don't recover enough from training twice a day as a natural? Or maybe if you can train twice a day as a natural, you don't really train hard enough? Just a food for thought instead of hopping on steroids
Walked into the gym two weeks ago (from U.K.) and there was 4-5 teenagers posing in the mirror and discussing their cycles. The 16-20 year old are the biggest users
Oh my god...I'm pretty sure it's all over the country where we're seeing teenagers pose in the mirror. When I was growing up, if you did that, you'd get the biggest ass beating of your life.
@@ThievNWalrusteenagers on steroids is awful but beating someone up for posing in the mirror in a gym… You understand that posing is an exercise in itself right? It improves mind muscle connection, helps you find weak points and imbalances, it gives you an effective method to check your progress over time. The ability to flex and control your muscles is really important and can be trained through posing. You’re not being helpful or being a positive influence making comments shaming people for standing in the mirror. That is not the issue here. The problem is the normalisation and promoting of steroids to children.
Body dysmorphia is as serious of an issue for men as it is for women It's less "instant gratification society" and more "I'm convinced I'll be happy like these gods on instagram after I become like these gods on instagram, whatever the cost may be"

All these Hollywood actors are also brainwashing kids to feel bad about themselves. "It's all very expensive diet and crazy and unnecessarily complicated gym regiment written by a celebrity trainer". They promote natty physique as natural standard and people are trying to achieve it, no matter the cost. Steroids should be taken much more seriously.
When I saw the extracted glands, I retched and when the steroid dealer said that his main clients are 16 to 24 year old, I wanted to cry. Steroids aren't worth it.

Youre always enough bro. Past that its just being happy with your own level of strength and aesthetics. Remember to value the effort just as much as the result. I’d say only competing powerlifters are “athletes”, doing a lift in front of a judge against other lifters in which your form and weight is judged seems like enough of a sport to me, the guys that just flex on stage are not athletes in the slightest
This is like the third time I've seen people saying this. As someone that doesn't watch sports, I'm surprised that people care so much about about being an "athlete", or whether or not something is a "sport". Goofy cultural priorities, I guess.
As a man who used to be a boy who thought no matter how much work I put in, I was still staying skinny, it's complete bullshit. My ex gets TRT but he had a brain tumor that severely damaged his pituitary gland. It's really weird that guys just go on that for no actual medical reason.
That is actually how TRT is normally used and should be used. In most countries TRT is ONLY perscriped to people that have lowered test levels due to sickness, surgery and/or treatment. It is not like USA were you can just get TRT because you feel tired and can't get a boner. USA is a weird country. Most of Europe have strick rules regarding TRT treatment. Needless to say that when TRT is perscribed by a doctor to raise TRT levels and get normal muscle density it is in so small doses that it cannot be used to build muscle on a healthy person.

Fitness is a life long journey. Young men, listen to me. If you’re tempted because of what you see on social media. The side effects are going to be hidden. Body dysmorphia is so real in guys but was laughed at (for me) until I looked into it personally. I found a diary recently from when I was about ten. One of the entries was talking about getting down from 92.5 to 88.5 pounds. That's INSANE for a growing boy to worry about. Made me really sad actually, but also made me realize how deep-seated and how far back our insecurities can go without us even realizing. Mine came from my mother's weight watching, similar influencers in media, and most of all bullies as my awkward growth misplaced weight at different times. These bodybuilding/lifting celebs absolutely influence people with insecurities as well. The idea that you need to be completely ripped or huge all the time is also insane. I despise how much they're allowed to project onto others.
And they used to talk about Victoria Secret being a problem for females. That’s nothing compared to what males must endure. Even the real natty’s like Jeff Cavalier, who walks around shredded and shirtless in his thousands of popular videos. The guy uses fake plates, lies about his weight and height, and is about as extreme as anyone on the planet with diet. He’s practically setting an unhealthy and unrealistic body standard for 99.x% of the population.
When I see someone early 20s and in peak condition, I often just assume roids honestly. It's a toss up between 'have they been dieting and training perfectly since the age of 15' or 'did they start taking PEDs 1/2 years ago'
Easy, if they continue to maintain it for decades, then they are natural. If you stop seeing them eventually... they fcked themselves up. Peak condition naturally really reaaally requires insane discipline beyond what the average mind is capable of. Wich is what I like about nature tbh, it really gives this earth a true purpose.
My guy, you can tell by the person’s diet. If you aren’t eating a bunch of high quality animal products, but instead fake protein powders, oats, and other grain related sludge, the guy is 9/10 times on roids.
What I find insane is that pretty much all breast based surgeries are meant to be done under general anesthesia. It's nuts that Doctor was just doing it with local anesthetic.

He mighta done pectoralis blocks and had someone in the room running sedation; I'm sure it's much cheaper/more profitable not to run a general anesthetic if for no other reason that it means you don't have to fund a post-anesthesia care unit
Your break down of this was brilliant!! Very impressed!! And thank you for bringing men's issues with body to the forefront. Often times this is over shadowed by women's issues but men being ignored almost help it grow. Well done!! Thank you!
Im glad to see the golden age of videos are coming back. But I will say ive always respected people who can at least be honest about what they use. Especially the people who were honest well before it became "cool" to be honest
Honestly, if you're a person who's on drugs, and using the drugs to reach your potential. You're more impressive than a natty to me. You have to manage more factors, and work even harder to max out your potential on drugs because drugs unlock a new level of training intensity
@xgamermudkip7154 Yea I personally can't pretend like I follow "natural" sports because so many people just fake the tests, or they genuinely can't compare to the people using PED's. Like I enjoy armwrestling and powerlifting a lot, both of which are kinda run by steroids
Oh yeah. It's great that they can take these drugs, build their platforms and tell you that you shouldn't take them and they don't lead to anything. Real respectable. 🙄
@darklightartist Nobody who I respect does that. They admit that steroids gave them the advantage it took to win and also have incredible genetics. I could take everything I wanted and I still wouldn't be a world class anything
As a med student I must admit I have become really desensitized regarding medical procedures. To me this was like... what's freaking me out isn't the surgery but the fact that the dude's dreads are hanging out of his cap
Yet, bodybuilders are not even beautiful. Quick beauty history of bodybuilding: So around 1920s bodybuilding was basically formed to todays idea of ideal male body. Idea was to look like a Greek god, or like those marble naked male statues. Steroids were not made yet. Also gyms, nutrition, and workout routines of that time were not like today, because Science. Moving forward to Arnold era: Steroids are about 40 - 50 years old. But still underground products, meaning that almost nobody used Steroids until Arnold Schwarzenegger became Bodybuilding god. Arnold's success made steroids main stream supplement on bodybuilding. Moving to the Ronnie Coleman era: Ronnie Coleman was first successfull mass monster. And because of his success Bodybuilders are now mass monsters. So Imagine: 1920s bodybuilders without steroids, but today's knowledge of nutrition, and workout routines and access to modern gyms.

I like how all these influencers decry the evils of steroids _after_ they've benefitted from them. They set up their brand and their business and build their platform. And then turn around and tell you that only losers take them. Like we've gotta start making that less of an empty statement when _so many_ people see a great deal of success after taking them. Influencers, athletes and actors. It means so fucking little until we start seeing actual natural physiques being promoted.
They don't tell you that losers take them. They tell you that they're a rare outlier and that most roid users will just end up with possible health issues.
@@ingenieroriquelmecagardomo4067 thats because people think it's a win condition when in reality you still have to put all the work and dedication in especially around caloric intake, when you don't do the aforementioned you essentially bottleneck your hormones
What would need to happen is for the general public to get educated about what a naturally attainable body is and what isnt, and to stop worshipping celebrities that are on roids. Unfortunately cheaters will always be popular and the general public cant even read at a high school level.
I was lucky to read this book called Gym Candy in middle school. It’s this fictional account of a teenager going down the dark hole of steroid use. Forever scared me of even the idea of taking them.
its ironic at this point how ive heard the helix sales pitch about not needing to hear a mattress sales pitch at a store, literally millions of times more than i have ever heard it in real life

I've been on TRT for a year now. I am a recovering opiate addict and take Buprenorphine as a part of my recovery, which is a different kind of opiate. Long term opiate use can reduce testosterone levels and when I noticed a severe lack of energy, depression, and no sex drive I wanted to look into it. My testosterone levels were abysmally low. A year later I feel so much better. I have way more energy, higher sex drive, and the depression is all but gone. I recently started working out because I have the energy now and I think it does make a difference, but that was never the reason I started in the beginning. I dont think I need to justify any of this to anybody, my point is just that there certainly can be good reasons for people to do TRT, even if that person also happens to get some benefits in their muscle tone.
Taking TRT because of low energy and no sex drive is pathetic. Are you from USA? Cause in most countries you do not get TRT perscriptions just because you have a low test level. Instead you get told how to naturally raise your test levels and then you get to work and does that. If you believe your unnatural intake of TRT produces muscle mass, then you are not taking TRT for health, but for PE and therefore it is a PED in your case. I am sorry to burst that bubble, but it's fact.
Im a guy far, far away from fitness and excercise related stuff, if you take it as part of recovery as a medicine, it is better then a guy who is naturally healthy and just wants to build up muscles without the time and work and discipline that comes with it. However, you should treat TRT as a treatment, not as means to end. You have to improve your own diet and lifestyle to increase test levels, these are just stopgap measures. Use them but never rely on them as a crutch.
@swamijagannathrai8209 absolutely. Now that I have the energy and ability to get to the gym and do other things that allow me to naturally raise my testosterone levels, my plan is to slowly start to rely on only natural methods
@@Blinkordeath182nah man, once you're on TRT you're in it for life. You think your body is gonna produce its own test after you've been blasting it with high concentrations of hormones for years?
I've talked my partner down from the ledge on taking these. I had eating disorders as a teen and they can be really similar sometimes. I worry about these guys, they need help unpacking whatever is driving their insecurities.
A male ego is surprisingly quite fragile. We do everything to impress females. The fact that he’ already has you, makes me worry that he’s not exactly committed to your relationship. But what do I know?
HRT is a great tool….for people that actually need it. When I turned 30 I started not feeling like myself. No energy, low mood, no drive, and intense brain fog among a ton of other issues. This sounds dumb but I never really considered the effects of wonky hormones for someone in their 30’s who hasn’t abused PED’s. So I went to a doctor got a blood test and sure enough my T levels were in the 200’s. So not wanting to start off with Test my doctor prescribed enclomiphene and an estrogen blocker. I’m 34 now and I feel better than I’ve felt in years.
Completely agreed, I went to the docs when I was 29 because I had absolutely no sex drive, I was always tired no matter how much sleep I got and was pretty much always irritable. Obviously this wasn't great for my marriage so went to the doctors and I think my levels at 11am were 2nmol/L, which is well below the minimum reference range for an over 50 year old despite being active, eating well and sleeping plenty. I did end up on testosterone and it's been life changing for my situation and I'd happily knock years off my life to live happily than get an extra 10 years and be as miserable as I was. Jumping on it when you're already in a healthy range and you just want to add some muscle mass though, can't see the point in that.
HRT can be really great if you know what you're getting into. My experience is different bc it's gender-affirmative HRT (MTF) but it's all about the trade-off. I'm glad many people can get help with their off-balance hormones too but a lot of these men think they need it just to be jacked and it's unfortunate
@@alyce958 These men are also gender affirming by using it... You can take it to affirm your gender? But these men cant take it it to be bigger, stronger and in turn more masculine. Just because its not explicitly stated that its 'gender affirming' doesn't mean it isn't gender-affirmative. Slightly bigoted to assume cis humans don't take measures to heavily affirm their gender even if it is their biological sex. Gender is a spectrum, right?
That's why TRT and HRT are defined differently. While they're a very similar (if not the same) treatment, HRT is a supplement-be it for gender-affirming care or other medical reasons, they're a medical prescription by a professional. TRT is used in the context of guys who don't have a medical need for testosterone. I liked seeing your comment bc conflating both lead to a bunch of hate for people taking HRT 👍👍
As a latecomer to this channel, I missed Philion's peak-body/fitness commentary origins, but I love reading the comments of the old guard who always get nostalgic when he does a video with a throwback vibe to those days.
As someone with gyno since I was a teenager (I'm 30 now, never used roids, they just happened naturally), hearing you say "I've got tips bruv" made me laugh my ass off.
I’m actually surprised at how candid Tom is, not just about using but about how an irrational need to be an “influencer” basically ruined every other aspect of his life. I can’t imagine any kid watching this and thinking “yeah, that’s what I want!”
Good job Phil , I myself used to look like how I do in my picture here but after several heart attacks and 10 years of heavy use I learnt my lesson and wish I never took them good to see a honest video on gear and like 1 say if you save one person GD VIDEO 👍👍👍
Honestly I have been thinking about stopping my steroid use. I have been watching Phil for years but this video honestly has me sitting here thinking after I'm done with my current stock, I'm going to stop. Thanks Phil.
One doesn't simply stop taking steroids. In all seriousness from what I understand, you will need to take something for the rest of your life once you start, just like Phil mentions in the video
A lot of people think this is a "newer" issue but this has existed for a long time at this point. I started training 17y ago and there were 16-18y olds on dbol in the gym. Getting correct information about cycles back then was waaaaaaay harder. Usually asking in some shitty forums where you get an answer from some amateur bodybuilder that also doesn't have any idea what is going on. The strongest guy in our school was benching 150kg when he was 18y old (around 330 lbs) for 10 reps. While he had good genetics, he also started juicing around 16 and I don't think I remember him having hair at 20.
After this, I'm even more against steroids than I already was. I've always been a smaller guy, but for the past 4 years I've been working out hard and have had tremendous results. I'm cut and at 11% body fat. Never take shortcuts when it comes to your health. The meditative experience of working hard in the gym and earning the body you want is outstanding.
I had to quit going to the gym because I was constantly being badgered to buy PEDs by every mother fucker who saw me struggling in there. Took up mountain biking down a bunch of local trails to get my exercise, sure I'll never be as big as those gym bros were. But I also don't have to worry about loosing my balls or growing boobs.
Different gyms can def give you different vibes. Almost everyone at my gym looks natty and not one person has reccomend Ike’s roofs, only one guy recommended trt once you start losing test in your 40s but yeah I’ve just been told you’re young (I’m 22), and your testosterone levels are high right now so stay natty.
I totally felt what Phil was talking about when he talked about adaptability, being flexible and feeling light, like an athlete ... I took a break from the gym cause I was getting tired of the repetitiveness, but since I went back, I've been using less weights and started focusing more on stretching and endurance. I also lightened my diet up quiet a bit and its made a huge difference. I feel better waking up in the morning, and something I hadn't anticipated, was its been better for my mental health in addition to physical.
I got a friend to come to the gym with me recently. I have been training for about 4 years. I have a strong physic and happily rep my 225, 315, and 405 for the big 3. My new gym bro after 2 months was on a cycle because "I don't wanna spend 4 years to just look like you bro". People's expectations are insane. He was also convinced that he hit his """natural potential""" before he even started lifting because he worked construction. He now looks like a strawberry sundae.
As a guy who developed Gyno as a result of puberty I have no idea how people would willingly risk developing this to look a little better. I have wanted to get the surgery to fix it, because the self image issues that I have are almost entirely related to my gyno, but my insurance won’t cover it because it’s still a “cosmetic” surgery
Props to that dude from Love Island for being completely honest and transparent about the whole thing!! More so called "fitness influencers" should be open like this, it would safe a lot of kids and teenagers and young adults from going down the same destructive, life-destroying path!!
13:30 is gonna hurt some feelings. So many people think they're "healthy" because they can lift heavy. Meanwhile their diet, cardio, sleep, and mobility are all complete shit.
5:16 this tears me up for personal reasons, the person i love most in the world has never done drugs in his life, i'm talking about the kind of guy who refuses to even take a tylenol for a headache. he was diagnosed with low T levels a few years ago and still refuses to go on TRT because he is so scared of drugs, even though he actually NEEDS THIS ONE and i have seen it affect his health in all the ways mentioned here and its debilitating. it causes me pain to see someone who genuinely need the drug through no fault of his own refuse to take it and then meanwhile these mofos do it to themselves.
Personally, the only thing I'd ever even consider taking is some kind of HRT, and even then, that'll be in my late 60s or something if I need it. Anything else is just terrifying to me. First, the things we know that will happen. Second, the many things we don't yet know, and I can't handle that level of uncertainty.
it depends, you can be in your 20s and need it - if you have low test/estrogen then you will have to take it just to remain functional - steroid abuse also can cause it but for me and others it can just happen on its own without a cause.
It’s crazy to set an arbitrary age of 60, you should start TRT when your levels decline. For me this happened in my mid 20s but didn’t realise the problem until 29 HUGE difference
Hilarious video to talk about a serious topic. The irony about how most guys just end up getting attention from guys is delicious. I just find it so hard to understand how guts don’t understand that there’s diminishing returns to size and just a straight up inverse at a certain point. None of which is worth taking PEDs. I’m 35 years old, natty my whole life, muscular, lean and have a boner so hard every morning my Helix Midnight Lux looks a pin cushion. I could not fathom getting some more muscle (more than women even want on a man) to have weak to no erections and mini raisins for nuts. Of course there is definitely a degree of mental disorder involved with PEDs for sure.
I wouldn't generalise what you find in highly commercial touristy places as general European cultures. I am Italian, I am living in Germany and I can guarantee that people take their shirts off in summer whether at the seaside or at lakes, in general where it is socially acceptable, not for the sake of showing off or out of social pressur, just because it either feels good, and it's just a personal preference. You definitely see a lot of shirtless people with non chiseled physiques, and that's absolutely perfect since that's how normal average people just look. If anything I find it refreshing.

That is actually how TRT is normally used and should be used. In most countries TRT is ONLY perscriped to people that have lowered test levels due to sickness, surgery and/or treatment. And they used to talk about Victoria Secret being a problem for females. That’s nothing compared to what males must endure.
@KTK44 tell me more youre so interesting

Gender is a spectrum, right?
blame the PFAS, microplastics, and all the estrogen and lead in the water supply

Good job Phil , I myself used to look like how I do in my picture here but after several heart attacks and 10 years of heavy use I learnt my lesson and wish I never took them good to see a honest video on gear and like 1 say if you save one person GD VIDEO 👍👍👍
Yo that ad bar you added is incredible.
"Body building is a sport" - Arnold 😂
A lot of people think this is a "newer" issue but this has existed for a long time at this point. I started training 17y ago and there were 16-18y olds on dbol in the gym. Getting correct information about cycles back then was waaaaaaay harder. Usually asking in some shitty forums where you get an answer from some amateur bodybuilder that also doesn't have any idea what is going on.
The strongest guy in our school was benching 150kg when he was 18y old (around 330 lbs) for 10 reps. While he had good genetics, he also started juicing around 16 and I don't think I remember him having hair at 20.
@amouage1239 most likely way earlier. Like 50s-60s
Almost everyone at my gym looks natty and not one person has reccomend Ike’s roofs, only one guy recommended trt once you start losing test in your 40s but yeah I’ve just been told you’re young (I’m 22), and your testosterone levels are high right now so stay natty.
you know, I'd have just said "no thanks" every time and continued my workouts
just say no?
And youd prolly last longer in bed too🎉
Well those dudes just talk to other dudes 🤣 I want to talk to women not guys
My grandma always tells me DONT DO SUPPLEMENTS like whey protein aminoacid creatine as if they are as damaging as steroids are
It's better to eat eggs and bone marrow.
Bro is on an absolute tear!
My boi is Back! How I missed this series! Good to have you back Philion! :)
Philion covering the fitness industry again is proof that the world is healing
Philion I’m glad you are back to covering the fake natty energy and the “cardio with no hands.”
I've had this surgery as a kid, but I never knew it looked so freaking disgusting dude! And this guy touched and wobbled it ahhh!
I miss this Philion content! Keep it coming!
A big problem that rarely gets talked about is the scar tissue buildup from years of injections
Bro you always deliver! your jokes are on point, Im LMAO in public at the moment. great job 😁👍
Props to that dude from Love Island for being completely honest and transparent about the whole thing!! More so called "fitness influencers" should be open like this, it would safe a lot of kids and teenagers and young adults from going down the same destructive, life-destroying path!!
DO A NATTY OR NOT ON ME, YOU WON'T
You're so natty it's painful.

13:30 is gonna hurt some feelings. So many people think they're "healthy" because they can lift heavy. Meanwhile their diet, cardio, sleep, and mobility are all complete shit.
Watching this as someone who legally took steroids as a minor through "transitioning" and can't express how important videos like this are. Great job.
The options are 100% natural, shedded, or big and you get to pick any 2 you want.
Is creatine natural?
90% natural, semi-shredded, bigger than I was a year ago and still growing?

Second, the many things we don't yet know, and I can't handle that level of uncertainty.
it depends, you can be in your 20s and need it - if you have low test/estrogen then you will have to take it just to remain functional - steroid abuse also can cause it but for me and others it can just happen on its own without a cause.
you can take them in ur 40s if u're healthier with them. test levels start to drop way before then
It’s crazy to set an arbitrary age of 60, you should start TRT when your levels decline.
For me this happened in my mid 20s but didn’t realise the problem until 29
HUGE difference
@@richard6812 Did they try and figure out what'd caused it before they put you on TRT?
Bro your commentary is so on point haha. Just found your channel. appreciate the content, you got yourself a new subscriber!
Any one want some turkey burgers??? 😂
great video, we need more people like you calling out the insanity of steroid abuse , it's disheartening to see so many young people literally shortening their lifespan for the sake of muscle growth
Bodybuilding has become narcissistic.
'become' 😂😂😂
Ahh I've missed these videos. Thank you king.
12:01 no, it isn't engrained in Euro culture to be ripped 😐 you went to a vacation island and people go there to enjoy themselves, not for Euro culture
Thank you Phillion
