as a raptor fan and growing up watching mj religiously. i can say vc's first couple of years in the league were a breath of fresh air. you could tell this kid was something special and i'm not just talking about his dunks. he brought it every single game. everyone thought he was going to be one of the great ones if he keeps this up. unfortunately thats where it stops, he just didn't have the work ethics or wanted to put up with the grind. and although he was still really good early on, he was no longer considered something special. he could have easily been mentioned along the late great kobe of that era if he had the will and determination.

I think a lot of people took him for granted at the time because of that 'next MJ' tag that was thrown around which raised expectations way way too much.

Vince Carter is by far the greatest Raptor of all time. He put Toronto on the map and impacted several generations of kids that made basketball grow all over Canada. We all unanimously know he's the greatest dunker of all time, but what people forget that he was such a huge offensive force his first 12 years in the league and had several clutch moments. He was unlucky to be surrounded with sub-perennial players in Toronto, and his time with the Nets was underrated. Those Carter to Kidd connections were the best. A definite Hall of Famer and ultimate legend. You will be missed VC!

My vote for best dunker of all time goes to Dominique Wilkins, but if you want to say it's Vince Carter then that's totally fair and realistic.
I don't think anyone was beating the Lakers in 2000 or 2001 but a Carter-McGrady pairing could have won championships in 2002 and 2003.
With 8 All Star Selections and longevity, I expect Vince Carter to make the Hall of Fame someday. I argued against Grant Hill's induction to the brevity of his peak due to the injuries. My position on Hill was that he played like a Hall of Famer as a Piston but that he needed to keep it for a few years as a Magic, which he didn't do, to be a Hall of Fame. But Hill Hill came back to be a nice role player with the Suns later on. So if Hill's 7 All Star Berths and longevity got him in, then Carter's 8 All Star Berths and longevity should get him in.

He was Dominique Wilkins' one true successor as the next "Human Highlight Film". First player to put the Raptors on the map and wound up having the longest career of any wing player in pro-basketball history. Only thing missing from his 1st-ballot HOF-worthy resume is a ring, that's about it. Even became a pretty decent defender during the latter stage of his career, but during his prime Carter was among the most exciting players to watch on the hardwood. Really enjoyed his Nets tenure with Jason Kidd, East Coast Showtime right there...

I had an opportunity to witness this first hand. Even during the Play-Offs as a Canadian. VC was amazing and unfortunately T-Mac was unwilling to stay, if he did, basketball history would be very different, maybe, just maybe, we’d have a contender for the best SF/SG pair in B-Ball history.

VC in his prime I remember was like Iverson slowed down just a bit. Weird thing to say but they had habits that mirror each other.

I got to see him March 6 2020 in Washington DC. The Bullets won but Vince got a standing ovation when he entered the game and an ovation when he made his first shot. He ball faked some dude and broke his ankles and swished home a perfect 3.

With or without help, Vince's was a beast. It's a terrible shame he didn't win a rings but, neither did Chuck Barkley didn't either, and after Doc retired, I pulled for Chuck and Vince!

I honestly think they would have won at least 1 title with VC &Tmac, cause then they never would have gotten Hakeem, and maybe spent money on a different big man to battle Shaq & Duncan. Oh man, the early 2000s would have been hot in the Tdot!! Always love your vids sir.

He was right up there with Kobe and Iverson for those 2 seasons. Short prime, still had a great career was probably top 3 in the league those 2 seasons in Toronto.

Vince is the dunk #goat. Period. I'll put bread on him in his prime vs any player in their prime as dar as dunking. Having him and T-Mac together definitely would have improved their chances, but as the video mentioned, this would have been around when Shaq and Kobe was eating, so who knows.....

Vince May have underachieved overall but he’s had a great career, put Toronto on the map, and was reliably clutch throughout his 20+ years.
Should be first ballot HOFer and really evolved into a veteran who played the right way.

Let's not forget that Carter put up those numbers when the game was slower and more focused on defense, the trend since the late 90s.
