Michael Jordan is one of the most competitive person you will ever see, and him dodging the question about who would win the dunk contest in their prime, him NOT saying he would win straight-up is pretty much his way of telling you yeah, Vince is probably going to win.
MJ. just said “It doesn’t matter who wins” in a dunk contest with Carter. Who is this guy and what did you do with MJ? I’m thankful I was able to see Carter and MJ. play. Half Man Half Amazing and Air Jordan.
I agree Vince was up there, for me it was MJ, Vince, Kobe, Dominique, that I always loved to watch play, I think Vince would have been up there with the greats if he didn't get injured in his prime and kept being an all-star he was also not happy in Toronto and cried for a trade and that made him lose a lot of popularity but he made a good come back. All that to say he was very exciting to watch and underrated at times.
@@BrooklynBalla But he never won any championships. He could have had success with Vince had he maybe been patient. He didn't want to be in Vince's shadow and understandably so. But their chemistry and continuity was intact between them. I do wonder what they could have achieved together 🤔
You know you are the best, when MJ utters the unthinkable “it doesn’t matter who wins” phrase. Michael never said that about anything in his life. But, he knows, like we all do. What a miraculous athlete Vince was.
Vince is a first ballot Hall Of Famer - no doubt about it. Greatest dunker of all-time. An underrated 3-ball shooter - he's in the Top 10 in 3pt FG made in NBA history. Played in 4 different decades. The man was a monster in his prime. But perhaps his lasting legacy was his influence on a whole generation of kids from the Toronto area who watched him play back then that are currently playing in the NBA today: Andrew Wiggins, RJ Barrett, SGA, Jamal Murray, to name a few. Ask any of these guys what prompted them to first grab a basketball or who they emulated/idolized growing up, almost certainly they will say Vince Carter.
As a spurs fan, I still remember VC's game winner against us in the playoffs. Funnily enough, we had Tracy McGrady on our roster the year before in 2013 but that's when we lost at the last moment.
The first Raptor superstar, half-man half-amazing, and the greatest dunker of all time. 2000 dunk contest will forever be my favorite. Kinda like Dominique Wilkins in the way he entertained with his dunks, but couldn't get over the playoff hump. But nevertheless, great player, and I loved his personality.
Issue was no one in Toronto knew McGrady would become THAT good. So he never really got much plays. Also he came from high school so he just needed more time still even though Carter was drafted after. If McGrady came from college his timeline would have matched Carter better
Hands down Vince Carter is the greatest player to ever play this game. People sleep on him when basketball discussions are had but nobody was touching. Vince Carter not even Michael Jordan
Yeah.. Jordan saying “we would have had a very good time” is just a joke.. Michael was great at dunking, but Vince perfected it. He was unreal. He was like a video game. However, are you seeing what all of the kids are doing today? That’s cuz of Vince. They jump higher, they dunk even more outlandishly.. but none of them has the whole package - body control, creativity, aggression, taunting and celebration, elevation, and figure also.. Vince doesn’t just dunk, he looks like a dunker.
I love this channel, you really do your homework. And this video could of been an hour long showing Vince highlights. The man was ALL AMAZING if you ask me, whether All-Star Weekend or a season game you always got your money's worth from Vince. I think I requested this a long time ago, but maybe I just thought about it. I would really like to see a video on the Garbage Men of the NBA, the guys who may not have had outstanding stats but helped the Greats be Great. Guys like Chris Gatling and Udonis Haslem type players who were doing the boxing out, throwing the picks, doing the dirty work so the Greats could do what they do.
missing a few clips, some where some of his opponents state that talent wise he was ahead of everyone. He shot the 3 ball very well, he was clutch and played the game the right way.
In terms of pure athletic ability, Vince may be no.1. Sure, he's not the GOAT, but man...he could play. He had a better all-around game than many think, too.
This video (as well as so many others) didn’t touch the talent and gifted ability of Vince. Vince was a high flyer with tremendous athletic ability yet Vince could FLAT OUT THE BALL AS WELL! His 3PT shot was as good as anybody in the league. Vince was amazing!
Vince Carter was the best NBA in-game dunker I have ever seen! His hops combined with his artistry and athleticism are legend. And Vince could shoot from the perimiter, a top inside-outside game. Never seen another player like him. MJ was great, knew how to play the game better, was laser-focused on winning, and knew how to get his teamates on the same page with him - championships. But I give showmanship and outside shooting to Vince, (and I loved MJ.) Dang, Vince was so good!
Vince was an all time talent, of that, there is no doubt. What's also not in doubt is his greatness as a human being in his work as a representative, and mentor, of the NBA. I think the NBA should create a Man of the Year award in his name. He represents all the things we should look up to as a player and human being, regardless of, race, creed, or upbringing. His awareness, and humility, led him to find his special place in the NBA as someone we can all aspire to be like, and appreciate. He was a consummate professional, with talent rarely seen, and made the best use of his reputation to improve the professionalism of younger players in a way that only someone with his cache, humility, and intelligence, could. We need more people like Vince in this world, period!
I don't give a shit if I got hated for saying this and Ive been a keen follower of the nba since early 90’s till now so the excitement, finesse and talent Vince Carter brought to the Nba since from the very moment he first stepped on the court is breath taking to say the least.Rings aside to me I couldn't rank LeBron ahead of this man in his prime
I love me some MJ and I seen both in their prime. When I saw Michael dunk in the Dunk contest. I was like damn he can fly with ease. But when I saw Vince I said damn…damn…damn….We never seen anything like that. Sorry Mike….you had a hard time with Dominique. No way you could beat Vince. You can’t WIN them ALL.
More than just the best dunker of all time. His handle was tight, his shot was elite, 3pt master. He was a complete player. The only thing lacking in my opinion is he was too nice, he didn't have the mamba mentality or the Jordan killer instinct. If he had that killer mentality I honestly believe he could have been in the Jordan conversation.
Aaaah Vince…my favourite player…the one who made me love basketball and dunking (and why one of my knees is completely dead for 15 years 😆). I wish sooooo much he could get a title at his peak! But it’s a game and this is war! There are winners and losers…
Are there videos of the dunks starting at 2:39? Especially the one at 2:42... I've never seen that before and I'm disappointed he never brought that out during the dunk contest.
This guy got me into basketball. When I watched him do that alley oop with one hand man, how could you not like basketball after watching him play. Now it's a three-point shooting contest and it's horribly boring so Vince you'll be known as the good old days.
I'm glad there's actually an interview with MJ at the end especially since his face is on the thumbnail picture lol Don't be playin these games youtubers, don't wanna have to put you on blast. 🤣
MJ and Da Bulls I rock with forever. But young MJ vs young VC in the dunk contest he'd kill MJ. Gerald Green/Jason Richards/Adam Lavine/Aaron Gordon are the only 1s I've seen that elevate like VC. But VC broooo his triceps over the rim when he dunks.
Never understood why that inbounds off the backboard alley oop isn't revered more. I played point my whole career, so that pass firstly almost seemed like an accident, but off the backboard with Vince jumping from outside the key with a one hand catch??? Has that ever happened before/since?
he have but not enough. his '98 '99 years, when he have a buzz cut season and when they chose Ray Allen over him in Olympics. Imagine if he played like that throughout his career
Jordan has no problem saying he would spank this person or that person or he would treat it like it's a ridiculous question, but in regards to a dunk contest between himself and Vince Carter it doesn't matter who would win.....anybody with any sense knows MJ is the G.O.A.T. but when it comes to dunking MJ knows Vinsanity wins that battle .
Vince was awesome but he was one of those players the media and NBA used to crap on Kobe like tmac and Iverson. That's why it's so ironically funny that when Kobe died the media made such a big fuss cause let's be honest here they spent all of his career trying to bring Kobe down.

Hi Pav. Agreed .Vince put TO on the map. Of course others have kept them there. But Vince is a legend for sure.
Every Vince Carter video should be required to include the dunk of death from the olympics. Greatest in game dunk of all time.
I agree. I think there are two top drinks of all time (on the same coin, opposite side): Pippen on Ewing and Carter on whoever that dude was. Haha
Made me love basketball. Forever my GOAT.
Vince Carter is one of the greatest of all-time. Phenomenal NBA player there will never be another

This is a great Christmas present. I grew up a Raptors fan during the VC era. He is the reason the NBA still exists in Toronto to this day.
He's Canada's Jordan!!!!!
John Bitove Jr made it happen
Why don't black ppl give respect to white ppl ffs
Don't know why but I wish Tracy McGrady never left Toronto, I wonder what they would have done together
They both would terrorize the NBA if they stayed together.
Agreed 💯

Was very spécial when they dunk in games

vince carter is one of the best players in the nba history he only retired because of the plandemic bullshit he was 42 at the time.
Yeah, and didnt make it in top 75 players. It's a shame and a snub....
Plandemic. Grow up. He retired because he wanted to retire.
Vince couldve easily dropped 30 plus on any night. I was surprised when AI knocked them out of the playoffs back in '01.
