      A little bit a trivia: the guy Carter dunk on, Frederic Weis, was drafted by the New York Knicks. Ed Tapscott, the guy that drafted him thought he was going to be Patrick Ewing's replacement. Weis never played a single second in the NBA.

    Vince Carter definitely deserves a statue at the Air Canada centre. VC inspired a generation of young Canadian basketball players.
    Without Carter, there is no Andrew Wiggins, Alexander-Walker, Gilegious-Alexander, Kelly Olynyk, Cory Joseph, Trey Lyles, Tristan Thompson, Dwight Powell, Dillon Brooks, and Anthony Bennett.
    All of these players are in their 20s and (except for Trey Lyles) grew up in Toronto, the Toronto metro area, or a city in Ontario.
    The "Vince Carter Effect" on these players and others who I cannot remember is immeasurable.

    • @joenicedj
      @joenicedj 5 лет назад

      The only other three Canadian basketball players I can think of that played before VC arrived to Toronto:
      Rick Fox
      Jamaal Magloire
      Steve Nash.
      Fox and Magloire are from Toronto.
      Steve Nash is Vancouver or Victoria...he is West Coast.
