A little bit a trivia: the guy Carter dunk on, Frederic Weis, was drafted by the New York Knicks. Ed Tapscott, the guy that drafted him thought he was going to be Patrick Ewing's replacement. Weis never played a single second in the NBA.
For me, this was the best facial in-game NBA dunk by the greatest dunker of all time Vincent Lamar Carter. My favorite player of all time, legend and hall of famer.
My dad took me to that game for my 12th birthday. That dunk was insane. Heat came away with the win but all I remember was dropping a F-bomb in front of my dad after that dunk lol
I remember a friend of mine in the 90s talking about someone that he saw playing a pickup game out East...saying he could jump out of the gym. It was Vince Carter and this was before he ever played even a single college game. Mr Longevity, has lasted a long time.
VC had the most flawless dunk contest performance of all time. That "arm in the rim" set a new standard for dunks... not to mention jumping over a 7 footer in a game...
Obviously melo is a better player rn than vince, that's not the issue with Melo. He's for sure in the Top 150 of all 450 player in the NBA; Vince Carter is pretty much around the 250th mark, in all honesty.
@@octopus8420 Vince per 36min stats last year were better than Melo's ..and Melo is 9 years younger ..Melo is a uni-dimensional volume scorer ..that is it. He does nothing else remotely good ! Portland will regret signing him, even if they're desperate !
Vince Carter definitely deserves a statue at the Air Canada centre. VC inspired a generation of young Canadian basketball players. Without Carter, there is no Andrew Wiggins, Alexander-Walker, Gilegious-Alexander, Kelly Olynyk, Cory Joseph, Trey Lyles, Tristan Thompson, Dwight Powell, Dillon Brooks, and Anthony Bennett. All of these players are in their 20s and (except for Trey Lyles) grew up in Toronto, the Toronto metro area, or a city in Ontario. The "Vince Carter Effect" on these players and others who I cannot remember is immeasurable.
The only other three Canadian basketball players I can think of that played before VC arrived to Toronto: Rick Fox Jamaal Magloire Steve Nash. Fox and Magloire are from Toronto. Steve Nash is Vancouver or Victoria...he is West Coast.
Tbh Vince is the most Athletic player of all time. The young VC clips speak for itself but this man is in his 40s still able to do between the legs dunks/ 360s

VC has been my boy since 98. That's crazy to say and Its crazy to think back that far, watching my favorite basketball player on t.v. against Kobe and shaq and tmac, Iverson. Yet VC is timeless and still out there. Crazy man, it will be sad when we hangs it up....
VC deserves a statue in Toronto. He essentially saved the NBA in Canada. If it weren’t for him, I don’t think the Raps stay in Toronto, woulda suffered the same fate as the Vancouver Grizzlies
what I love most about Vince is that when he was out of his prime he didnt start calling up his homies and team hopping to hunt a championship because he KNEW that it wouldnt be the same as if he was the #1 guy.... it wouldnt count and he knew it... RESPECT
It’s amazing how the NBA is able to promote every generation of their talents into true legends of the sport. Kareem and Wilt, Magic and Bird, Jordan and Barkley, Kobe and Mcgrady.
As a Toronto Fan. VC made toronto Basketball. However the way he left Toronto left a sour taste. Every raptor fan hated him. Fast forward, we forgave him and buried the hatchet. He has received standing ovations and tributes since then. Does Air Canada Carter deserve statue in toronto. NO!!. would it be nice to see him retire in toronto. YES!!!
The main reason vince deserves a statue in Toronto is simply this: If there was no vince carter, the Raptors as an organization would have failed starting out. Vince sold tickets, got press, won games, and put Toronto basketball on the map. The 2000 dunk contest sealed the deal. No Vince, no Raptors thriving in toronto today.
This may have been the most entertaining conversation on Countdown. Everyone loves reminiscing about Half-Man Half-Amazing.
Youngsters today don't know him like we know him. Dude was like Blake Griffin with a jumper. Greatest dunker ever
Half man all amazing*
Half Man, All Amazing
Yea he smashed on Alonzo.. but that dunk in the Olympics was the best in-game EVER!!💯

Respect on Jalen pointing out his 3ball, 6th most career 3s in history! Set a playoff 3 point record in 2001 ECF! Dude was bananas at the time.
When he jumped over that guy in the Olympics, France went to the UN and complained that the US violated its airspace
Deja Voodoo Brilliant!!
He actually dunked that guy into retirement.
Very clever lol
He regretted doing that to destroy that guy’s career when he was older.

I was at that game too. That was the year Miami won its first 2006.
I was there too smoking 420 in the washroom during break

VC ba-by!!
This guy is timeless!
Kudos to VC for taking all of the ups and downs of professional bball with grace and humility. Yo d man Vince...
Im 49, Ive watched at least 4 decades of basketball. Greatest in-game dunker I've ever seen.

Vince Carter still chasing the ring!!
Best nba dunker of all time..
He has a statue here, in our hearts =)
The most sick dunk in basketball history happened in 2000 Olympics.
Definitely should have a statue in Toronto. He put that team on the map.
Carter left his team to attend his college graduation DURING THE PLAYOFFS.
William Walsh Still put them on the map regardless
@MARC D. if he hadn't, Toronto might not have lasted. No expansion team is guaranteed to stay in the league.
William Walsh to a lot of people, a college degree is more important
Indeed half man half amazing.👏
My favorite player and the best dunker in nba history! It's not even debatable
The best dunk in nba history
Vince Carter the man that time forgot ,he is still half man half amazing 42 years young
Can`t wait to see this guy ( Vince ) on the air, at ESPN studio
Can't wait to see clips in the future with a 60-year old Vince teaching his grandchild how to pull up windmills and tomahawks 💪🏽
As a raptors fan, there’s no denying what VC means for the franchise, but there will be no monument out side for him.
Agreed, they would have one of kawhi 1st before that.
Exactly... Not a big build a Statue Guy but I would say Kyle Lowry first if anyone......
Look man Jordan can’t win everything lol. Carter is the greatest dunker of all time
I totally agree...not as great as MJ and MJ did have crazy dunks, but VC takes it to the next level especially with one-hand alley-oop catches!
Kevin Masters mjs dunks aren’t even impressive tbh
@@Sam-oe4dt Please...let's be honest here! MJ's dunks are legendary!
@Mikeman Jordan He didn't. But still top 3 best dunkers of all time.
VC’s best two feet dunkers of all time, but MJ’s fast break one leg dunk through traffic is best. Different style but I will still go with MJ.
Vince Carter is a likable guy!
People forget that he dunked on Zo Mourning twice in that game....Facts 100
windmills and eastbays at the age of 42, who else does that? hes ageless!
