If you didn't watch the NBA 1998-2007 you'll never understand. We used to wait to watch Sportscenter to see what dunks & highlights Vince did during games. The most entertaining basketball player ever imo, Mike early in his career gave us those but Vince was just too saucy. My favorite player all-time
As someone who watched both MJ and VC, VC was the greatest highlight player ever. We definitely tried to catch Jordan highlights, but Vince WAS Sportscenter. Basketball fans, non-basketball fans would wait on Sportscenter to catch any new Vince Carter dunks. It was an incredible time. I want to say we cared as much about Vince's top 10 dunks of the year as much as the NBA champions in the early 2000s.
Greatest dunk in history. Getting dunked on can take a little piece of you but that dunk emasculated an entire country. It was like a man competing against children. Original dream team never had a dunk like that against inferior competition.
Vince Carter is in the top 10 for 3s all time and everyone remembers him as a great dunker. That is talent. He was so good that he is one of the all time leaders in a stat but he did something else so well that most people don't even know that
Vince was so cold wit it, he had 3 nicknames - “Air Canada”, “Vinsanity”, and “Half-Man Half-Amazing” ………a blessing to have witnessed his career….best in game dunker ever and he could shoot ….Special
Nobody ever talks about vince's 3 point shot which is understandable with his dunks. I witnessed one of his game winners for the nets against the hawks it was damn near half court he has a laser 3 pointer.
his last 2 years in toronto he dealt with a TON of knee/leg injuries. its one of the things that soured the relationship. especially the year the raps went on a run without him and snuck in the playoffs and almost won a round if it wasnt for one of the fucking dumbest plays in nba history
If my not very good memory is correct, he went down after a jumper against the Celtics, and it was revealed he had jumpers knee (I think was the name for it). I remembered thinking after he returned from healing that he was slightly less explosive looking, or maybe he was being slightly more cautious. But still was producing.
Ahhhhhh man. This hit the spot. Thank you. My happiest times watching the game were the MJ and Magic era and alongside that was the VC Raptor era. Never seen an athlete like VC. People are right when they say there will never be another MJ. But you know what? There will never be another VC either.
If I had the ball on the fast break, and Vince Carter was on the one side and JESUS on the other, I would have too throw it to VINCE CARTER !!!!🐐 in the AIR js 💯😎
So I played against Vince Carter in high school. Although I didn't have to guard him because we ran the 2-3. Vince had 52 points, 16 rebounds, 19 dunks, 8 blocks, and 7 alley-oops. Vince had a point guard named TT Toliver that was nice! I remember him talking shit before the game. He said Vince would score 50 points and get at least 20 dunks against us! Watching him dunk on my teammates was hilarious! That year Daytona Beach Mainland won the 1995 6a state championship! I've been a fan ever since! Off note, his assistant coach end up becoming a mayor of the city!
"Half Man, Half Amazing!!" The perfect moniker for that dude.. VC is the reason Nike Shox took off, had us all thinking we could trampoline to the hoop.. Factz.....
Vince ended the slam dunk contest, after his 360 windmill dunk and other dunks that contest, we all knew the slam dunk contest was never gonna be the same, I remember watching it like this is one of the coolest moments I'll ever witness, he blew our minds
I figured eventually someone would come along and finally beat him. its been over 20 years. at best you could say a few people got close a few times. thats fucking INSANE
A real nature phenomenon to watch. Good collection of stories and funny ones too. Surely half an hour is not enough to describe all of his magical moments as a player, dunks or not.
The fact that Shaq said there are 3 guys I let do whatever they wanted to do and then says he flagrant fouled Vince because he DIDNT wanna get dunked on is hilarious
Vince made it look easy, effort less, he looked like he was playing in the park. Vince was doing whatever he wanted, unbelievable. He looked like he was a step above everyone. Like he was playing with high schoolers.
I love these videos man! I’ve seen so many of my favorite players and stories I’ve never seen or herd of, so thank you for your hard work towards these videos. But AI has to be hands down my favorite one! Keep up the good work !
I worked in the club industry for about 10 years in my younger years, mostly in Charlotte, NC. Was around alot of celebrities/athletes..... NOBODY was more down to earth & just a regular dude than Vince Carter. He was a HOF player with a blue collar personality. Antawn Jamison was with him that night & was just as cool....just regular dudes having fun.
Man, I love VC too much. MJ, Vince, and Iverson are my 3 top favorite players all time. Three persons I'd die to meet, to shake hands, to talk anything. My heroes. And it's soooo pleasing to hear people giving credit and compliments to him! Who cares about late carreer numbers or rings, he made basketball the most beautiful game to watch! That is A LOT.
Growing up in Toronto when he was on the team. I wasnt a big basketball fan i was too busy with hockey but its cool lookin back having got to witness some of his greatness and i just thought he was the raptors top player never knew how respected he was around the league
6:12. "So when he hit me, I went higher...." In one of the most interesting dunks in NBA history, Vince Carter accomplishes in real life what happens to many of us when we are sleeping. When I play basketball in my dreams, my best backboard breaking dunks are when I bounce off other players and go higher.
I must say your work is splendid you put the focus on your subject through the mouths of the players rather than talk from a research or stat perspective. Youkeep your narration to the point and short. This gives respect to the players because I would hear anything from these guys story wise about the game. Keep up the good work.
I love this series man. Personally, the player id like to see you do one for is Pistol Pete. But I think if you did one on Shaq or Dr. J those would do really well in the algorithm
Man, what would I give to sit next to this great personality even for 1 hour. I mean we almost the same age. Still…my whole youth I was looking up to that humble freak of man. The league isn’t the same without him.
Beautiful work once again. Really appreciate the effort you put into these and let the players tell the stories without any bs bells and whistles. As for the request: Do one on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was the main reason I got into this sport as a kid in the 80s.

There are certain players that influenced the culture and my Childhood. Everyone wanted to be a legend like Jordan, the newest kid on the block that can do all like Kobe, but had them handles like iverson and can YAM it on anyone like Vince Carter. He was the Epitome of an And 1 mix tape on a fast break. Not to mention his cross overs and jumper
In the summer of 1998 or 1999 me and a friend went to the gymnasium of IIT here in Chicago. As soon as we stepped in I noticed a young Vince Carter. I'm like," Damn, that's Vince Carter!" My friend was like, " Who is that?" I told him, " Just watch."... That afternoon, Vince Carter put on a dunk show!! The crowd was going crazy even when he missed a couple. There's a kid named Ronnie Fields who used to be the dunking king here in Chicago. He played ball with Kevin Garnett in high school ( Farragut). My point is, I've never seen anyone dunk like Vince Carter.
Nice work on this video, man. You did a great job! I do agree Vince Carter was something else, he was a bird in the paint. However, taking nothing away from this video, In my opinion, the best dunks came when Zach Levine and Aaron Gordon battled.
Love these series 💯🤟🏾

Vince is the greatest dunker of all time. I think his 'after dunk' reactions get overlooked a lot. Great video
The dunk of death... it probably is the greatest dunk ever in basketball.

i got him vs shawn kemp for best after dunk reactions
