    This is a good review. And your comment replies are great.
    I have an Emove Cruiser S that’s fun, and I like the wide deck, and it powers up hills well, but if I were to have a different scooter at this time I’d go with this. Less issues than Cruisers.
    The big con for me on this Segway is the battery/range, and I don’t like apps and firmware & updates and change the way it functions at any time.
    There’s an issue if some people experienced overheating, and the battery isn’t the best, but it seems they have it dialed in with the latest update, that comes with some small sacrifice to power/hill climbing.
    This scooter is definitely not for heavier riders.
    That suspension and smooth ride looks great though!
    Braking seems safe, because be warned, you can go over the handlebars on scooters by braking too hard on many of them.
    And honestly, for safety reasons and just to enjoy your ride, you don’t want to be going more than 22 MPH in my opinion.
    This Segway seems great for a rider around 200 lbs and under, that doesn’t need more range.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you! How’s the range on your Emove Cruiser S? The battery on that thing is huge.
      The suspension is definitely the best thing about the Segway. Super smooth compared to other commuter scooters. And apps are definitely a double edged sword. On the one hand they allow for fixes to software related issues but on the other hand, they can drastically alter the riding experience.

    I tested 30-35 degrees hills with this scooter, it accelerated during the climbing, rather than slowing down, but the battery was nearly full. Even when I start in the middle of a hill, I feel the power of acceleration and it reaches 25kmh from zero.

    I've done over 500 miles on mine recently.And it's such a great scooter but I will highly recommend that if you're going to take it off road like I do and ride it at max speed to please please adjust those shocks to the fastest tightest setting. If you have them where they come in the box by default or any softer it could literally bounce you right off the scooter.
    This was my first scooter and I had it for about 6 or 7 weeks and then I decided I just had upgrade and I got the mighty segway.G.T2LO, L, you know the $4000.Most expensive one that goes 43 miles an hour LO.L. So now I have 2 and my friend comes with me. And we ride the trails over here and New Jersey and Philadelphia every day and right on the streets in the city. Also, it's so much fun but tnine. But max G2 has a cult following for a reason. It takes 4 hours to charge from nothing and it's a great little scooter. I just wish it had more range like my GT 2.
    Again?
    If you ride at max speed and have a city with a lot of bumps or pot holes.Or want to take it off-road.Please look up how to adjust the backshots to the tightest setting.It's very easy.You just take the allen wrenched tool and pushed it to the right downwards until it stops

    After 3 summers on a G30P I should be getting a MAX G2 in 2 months. The suspension is the main upgrade reason then some of other enhancements like blinkers.
    So after 500 miles, how is the suspension? Same as day 1? No strange noise/rattle?
    Thanks for the update!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  4 месяца назад +2

      The suspension has been awesome on the G2. The only real noise it makes is if it gets really wet from riding in rain. Only then does it make a squeak when you first hop on. Squeak usually goes away after a few seconds. I just wipe the rear coils down after riding in the rain. You can also use some lubricant to keep things moving smoothly. Really no different than any other scooter/bike suspension.
      Another thing worth mentioning is that if you go over a deep wide crack or unusually sharp bump in the road at high speed, you may hear the rear suspension “recoil” as it clears the obstacle. Some liken it to a clunk sound. It’s simply the suspension recoiling. Hasn’t been an issue for me and the suspension has held up great, even after going over some gnarly stuff. Maybe Segway can add some rubber stoppers in the future to soften the recoil.

    So may be you can buy a fastar but it will be a less range or higher weight.
    It can be a longar range, but not so fast and higher weight.

      @tomsgadgetgarage  4 месяца назад +6

      Oh wow, yah I’ve read about customer service nightmares from a variety of brands, and unfortunately it really seems to be a problem in the electric scooter market.
      I think part of the issue is the whole shipping of scooters back and forth to be serviced. That quickly gets expensive. I really think there needs to be more local service centers. For example, with my Lectric E-Bike, it came brand new in the box with a flat tire. When I contacted the company, they sent me new tubes, very clear replacement instructions, and even offered to cover the full cost to have a local bike shop make the repair if I didn’t want to do it myself. That’s the kind of service we need with scooters.
      Glad you ended up getting a replacement scooter, but it’s really unfortunate you had to wait 4 months for a proper resolution. I mean, many of these companies preach how scooters can be used to replace cars, but if it’s going to take 4 months to get a fix, it will never happen :(.

    My back wheel on my G2 makes a thunk sound when going over 1” high dents in the road, or when coming out of a drive way onto the street, -is this normal, does your back wheel make a thunk sound? Thank you 🦋

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  3 месяца назад

      Hey! So the sound you’re hearing is the recoil on the coil springs in the back. Usually happens when you go over particularly harsh bumps, like the 1” dents you mentioned or big cracks in the road. Softening up the suspension can help, but it won’t eliminate it completely.

    Do you think "NIU KQi 300X Electric Scooter All-Terrain Suspension" is a better choice than the one you discussed? NIU kQi 300X has got 500 watt (min) and 1000 max. And that is 48 volt compared to Max G2 which is 36 volt. Suspension there is only in the front (double) whilst G2 has double suspension system. Any suggestion?

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 месяца назад

      I prefer front and rear suspension to just upfront, but the KQI300X does use dual hydraulic suspension upfront which is preferable to the single shock upfront that the G2 has. The design of the G2 front suspension means there will always be slight play in the wheel. For example, if I hold the G2’s front wheel between my feet, there’s about 1mm of play in each direction. Good news is that it’s not really noticeable when riding.
      All else being equal, I would choose a 48v system over a 36v system. The G2 does make the best of it though.

    • @wahidmardan
      @wahidmardan 2 месяца назад

      @@tomsgadgetgarage Thank you for your comment; it helped clarify my decision. What are your thoughts on the NIU Air scooter? It’s made of 70% carbon fiber, which brings its weight down to only 12 kg. Despite this light weight, it offers impressive performance and range. Considering this, do you think it's wiser to spend 1,000 Euros on the NIU Air or 700 Euros on the KQI300X?
      The KQI300X series is known for being a powerful scooter, even outperforming the Segway Max G2. On the other hand, the NIU Air, while a medium scooter, is highly portable-an aspect that interests me greatly. How would you compare the two in terms of value and functionality?

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 месяца назад

      Anytime :).
      The Air is a great choice for those needing maximum portability with respectable performance. The downside is that it doesn’t have a suspension. If your ride is on smooth surfaces and maximizing portability is a must, the Air is a solid option. But if you’re looking for more comfort on longer rides and are okay with the extra weight, the 300X has the advantage.
      Having no suspension isn’t terrible. It’s just not as comfortable over longer distances.
      To put it into perspective, I have a no suspension e-bike that weighs 36lbs. It’s one of my favorite e-bikes because it’s very light compared to most e-bikes on the market. Once the battery drains, I can pedal it as easily as I would a normal bike. It’s not as comfortable as my other suspension e-bike, but it gets the job done.

    Don`t know what happened with Segway in last few years. Mine P100S is a disaster, every 500km it requres fixing. Last thing that broke was front arm. Segway MAX G2 has now so many issues, that G30 didn`t ever had, that it is probably some personal changes in the company that lead to that. So now I`m back on G30 II, it is better than first G30 and have no issues. This is the best scooter world has eves seen. Not so comfortable as Max G2 probably, but it will do 11 000 km as my previous G30. I`m absolutely certain that Max G2 suspension will not last 11 000 km if it starts to squeak after 700km.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  4 месяца назад

      I’ve definitely heard various reports of issues with the P100S. For the Max G2, so far it’s held up great for me. Not even a single flat tire driving out here in the desert aka thorn country.
      There were a bunch of issues when it launched, but most of them have been addressed with updates. Definitely a rough start though. Of course, I’m a single person, but generally speaking there are a lot fewer reports of issues now compared to when it first launched. We’ll have to wait and see how it fares over the coming years. But the G30 is definitely the gold standard in my book for a scooter w/o a suspension.

      Thank you! If all of those fit into the budget and you want to minimize future upgrades, I would choose something with a suspension. The Max G2 is the most comfortable to ride of the three you listed, but it’s slower in terms of top speed and acceleration than the KQi 300X.

      @@tomsgadgetgarage 6 miles this morning 81% left on the charge. I have it set so no kick start, bit of a curve on learning. Not too bad so far my only complaint is I wish the cruise control starts a tad bit quicker also when letting go of the throttle to coast i wish the motor doesn't slow you down so you get more roll time on downhills, it sets nice and easy on e-save mode but i seriously don't think i will be going past 15mph really no need conserve the battery..lol Rides nice and smooth. the 8-9mph feels kinda slow but then again the more i ride the more comfortable i become. Best decision i have made yet. Also it handled the overpasses with easy at 8-9mph with no sign of slowing down.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Месяц назад

      So for the motor slowing you down issue, that’s the regen brake kicking in when you release the throttle. You can go into the app and turn regen off. That should allow you to coast.
      Great to hear you were able to get over the overpasses 💪

    My brand new G2 has annoying rattle on the front fork / suspension when I go over bumps but I have not seen anybody else in any forum mention this problem. Wondering how it can just be my scooter??? Also the rear suspension makes a “clunk” noise sometimes when you go over bumps and it also sometimes bottoms out which is annoying and I wouldn’t think this should be happening on this scooter. Does anybody else have these issues? I would REALLY love to know! Are they a flaw with the design of the scooter or can noise issues like these be resolved. I love everything else about the scooter.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  4 месяца назад +1

      You definitely shouldn’t have any kind of rattle on the front suspension. Sounds like something is loose or has too much play. I would stand in front of the scooter, put the front wheel between your feet so it doesn’t move and turn the handlebars. There should be minimal play maybe 1-2mm in each direction.
      As for the rear suspension, when going over big bumps or deep cracks in the road very fast, you can hear clunk in the rear. It could be a combination of bottoming out or recoiling very fast. You can try and reduce it by adjusting the spring tension. To be honest I’ve experienced the same thing even on off-road scooters with hydraulic coil spring suspension with lots more travel than the G2. I softened mine up a bit which has helped.
