Ouch! On my G2 Max, at 527.7 miles, I took a nasty spill. This scooter has been a great investment for me. I have 531 miles in so far. I live in northeast Texas. Small town. After 81 days of ownership, I fell really hard. This is a tough scooter. I hit the sidewalk at about 19mph. A slide. Brand new sidewalk. Mud on both sides. The sidewalk turned, I cut it way too close, way too fast. The front wheel went in. I went over. On my hands mostly. But gloves saved my hands. Helmet saved my head. My face was in the grass. My sunglasses were scratched. And the knee pads were at the house. Road rash hurts. Just above knee. I am so glad your videos include safety equipment. And I am glad for the helmet and gloves. Shorts and a tee shirt is no protection. Like I said before, I have 531 miles on this scooter. First fall. This scooter is solid. A tough, well built machine. No noise at all. This thing hit hard. I was about 3 miles from the house when I fell. No damage to the scooter at all. I rode it home. It flipped and hit. I went from a standing position to face first sliding on the sidewalk. Ouch! I am looking forward to my next ride. Spring rains are the only thing keeping me from riding it to work daily. It is a fun machine. Worth every penny. 22mph is fast enough for me. This body does not bounce like it used to. At 64, I learn as I go. Always had good balance. But knee pads would have protected more of me. Next time, I will have them on for sure. Thanks for your videos. Your advice saves lives. Ride safe.
My goodness. Glad you were able to walk away from that. Road rash is definitely a pain. I took a spill back in April on an electric skateboard at 28mph. Glad I had a helmet on. Didn’t have any pads on so I paid for that with some awful road rash. Hopefully you’re all healed up and back to riding.
Sounds like you need to replace the rubber foot pad with a white rubber pad. I measured the surface temperature of my black truck on a hot day. it is around 180 and my silver van is around 110-120
Hey! One thing I’ve noticed about a lot of E-Scooters is the display brightness, or lack there of. I’ve read reviews of other scooters and it appears this is somewhat of a common issue across the board, with a few exceptions. I definitely agree that it could be brighter as I’ve had to work a bit harder to decipher what’s on the screen when riding in direct sunlight, which could be distracting. I’ve switched to using the dashboard mode in the phone app as it gives more detailed info, specifically temperature which I’ve been most concerned about given posts from people about overheating issues. I will add this to my extended review that I’m in the process of writing up. Good call out :)
One thing I am missing is the issue of weight. The suspension and long range comes at a cost as the scooter weighs 24,3kg or 53,5 lbs. If you live in an apartment building and have to take the scooter up multiple flights of stairs you gonna notice that rather quickly.
Oh for sure. That’s where something like the KQi3 Air comes in. I look forward to the day when battery tech leap frogs and we can have something with the weight of the Air but the power to tackle hills and hit 28 - 30mph. And a nice low price tag haha.
is there no basement for you in apartments? i live on 5th floor, its decent weight to carry even for lifting person like me, but i manage, until i realized i could just put it in basement. I charge it every 2 days at work as my one round trip is ~17km (17km 1 day+8-9km 2nd day = 26km), can just keep it in basement without buying power generator.
Great honest review!.. I like the way you presented the good and the bad. I expect to receive my Mac G2 today and was afraid of not making the right choice. Thank you! ✨
I had no idea there was a dashboard mode. That would make for a great shorts video ;) I personally managed to get 27KM with a healthy dose of stop-and-go's at 240lbs. I did not get any high-temperature warnings, but it took a very long time for the motor to cool off before I could charge the scooter. I got super anxious thinking I broke it after my first big ride.
Ha! Good idea 😃. Yah when you launch the app and connect to the scooter, click the scooter image and select dashboard. It’s got lots of useful info there. I use it on all of my longer rides. The cool off feature is great because it helps ensure as safe a charging environment as possible, but Segway doesn’t really tell you about this. I too thought something was wrong with my scooter after my first long ride back in July haha.
Im glad i didnt update the firmware to 1.4.8 Theres alot of people angry and disappointed who did that... Segway should have made that update optional for people who weight more and have overheating issues... Not to screw everybody! Hopefully segway will fix that in the future...
Yah definitely hear you on the update. The power difference and acceleration were noticeably different post update. It sounds like it helped the people who were experiencing issues but at the cost of the higher end performance prior to the update.
Great review my dude, i just got done doing my own video of my Max G2 as well and definitely noticed that reduction in Speed and Torque, for me the drum brake is not so great and doesn't seem to make a full stop unless i hop off the scooter. But overall for my small errands around the city, i like it, ive had mine for a little over 60 days now.
Nice! Thank you :). Yah I’m going to be testing it out again on some hilly terrain to see if hill climb performance was impacted much by the update. No issues with parking garages, so we’ll see. Have you tried adjusting the brakes yet?
@tomsgadgetgarage yep, its pretty much maxed out on the tension. Im not sure if its just my MAX G2 or if anyone else sees the brake cable a little too long and thats why the brake cant be fully adjusted where the line doesnt look like its inches away from reaching the ground? But mune sure does look that way. 😅
Could you please provide the name or link for this cool side mirror on your scooter? It looks amazing and seems reasonable far off to be able to clearly see the cars behind… Also I wonder if they have it for a left side roads in Ireland…
Hello! It’s a Briskmore Bike mirror. They make it for both left and right and also have different mirror colors available. Here’s the link to the one I use in the video amzn.to/3s0oPme (Amazon affiliate link). This mirror has the longest arm I could find without it being one of those flimsy flexible arm mirrors. This one has held up well.
Ha! Good point. Yah when I first got the scooter I remembered the signal sound being much louder. After some firmware updates I think it got quieter. I could very well be dreaming though lol. It would be awesome if it made a sound similar to a car’s turn signal.
I'm considering this scooter but have heard reports of sudden braking down hills. Apparently it will aggressively regen when going above its top speed, throwing users forward. Has anybody here had issues with that?
Hey! So I ran into this around the 10:40 or 10:50 mark in this video here ruclips.net/video/Jfx0PWaBkJA/видео.html. I did another hill test today and was not able to duplicate the behavior anymore.
Mine is at 550 km and the suspension on the back and front is honestly fucked up.Going into small holes or going up a curb the suspension bottom outs and there is this heartbreaking sound of metal hitting.Ive already adjusted the springs and nothing fixes it can somebody help me?
Oh wow, that doesn’t sound good. If you don’t mind me asking, how much do you weigh? I’m 195lb / 88 kg and haven’t had any issues with bottoming out yet.
good video! how did you get 30 MILES on it though? Because the ninebot max can reportedly only get about 13 miles. and on other range tests on the g2 max, i've seen that many people get about 15-16 miles on a single charge. my niu max can only get about 11-12 miles on a single charge. how is this possible?
Thank you! So for the main parts of the ride I was driving anywhere from 16-19mph/25-30kmh in sport mode. The average speed for the whole ride was 15mph. If I drove at max speed (22mph/35kmh) for the entire ride, distance would have been less. Also, there was very little stop and go as I had many uninterrupted stretches to ride on. If there was more stop and go, I would have had to accelerate more often which would have resulted in less range.
I’m thinking about buying one for riding to and from school ( abt 7 kilometres away) would you recommend me getting this or another scooter considering I have a need for speed as well
So this is a solid option for that length of a ride. Other consideration are the Apollo GO and KQi 300X. I’ve tested all three and all are excellent options. The GO and the 300X do have faster acceleration, but word on the street is that Segway is releasing a turbo mode in a future update which should improve acceleration.
Great question! Check this out, really good reference: riderguide.com/guides/2022-guide-to-electric-scooter-laws/ You can also do a search for your city specifically. For example, here in Arizona you’re allowed to use an e-scooter in the bike lane, but in my city/town, they actually forbid you from using the bike lanes. They would rather I ride 20mph down the sidewalk used by pedestrians.
Thanks! I would say the scooter leans towards the heavier side. I can definitely carry it and put it into the trunk of my car, but I wouldn’t want to carry long distances or up too many stairs.
Honestly people should make a way bigger stink about the 1.4.8 update... I'm happy you mentioned it, but it's way worse than "lost a bit of acceleration"! Lots of people (myself included) have noticeably lower range, top speed and acceleration after the update. 1.4.4 had already done a great job of managing overheating - but 1.4.8 completely neutered the scooter. It's so bad a lot of enthusiasts are looking into buying replacement controller in the hope they're on older firmwares... Such a shame they did that.
Acceleration and the loss of medium regen braking were the first things I noticed. I am still able to make the 22mph top speed, although it takes a couple seconds longer to get there. I do plan on doing another range test to see if I can still get 31-ish miles in sport mode. I definitely agree that losing the acceleration sucked. It seems all of this was done to reduce overheating. At 195 lbs I’ve never once experienced overheating so it kinda sucked to lose some performance. Hopefully we can get some of that back in a future firmware update.
Hey! Thank you! I did ride around a steep parking garage and didn’t have any issues. I plan on doing a 10+ mile ride up a hilly area this week and will post a video of the results later this week. I’ve done the same ride before prior to the update with no issue. We’ll see how it goes this time around.
Hey! I am not aware of melting connectors with the G2. I know it was an issue with some of the G30s but I personally haven’t experienced it nor have I heard of others experiencing it.
Hey! This is the side mirror I use amzn.to/3s0oPme. I like it because it has a long arm which allows the mirror to extent slightly past the handlebars which makes it easy to see what’s behind me.
Yah you’ll have a much better experience with a scooter with more power. The Max G2 will handle riders up to 265, but at or near that limit, speed and range will be impacted.
Great review! Curious, have you noticed that the top speed of 35 kmh (22 mph) goes down to 30 km (18.5 mph) once the battery level is at 50%? I noticed my Max G2 not longer runs at up to 35 kmh once my battery gets at 50%.
Hey! I did notice reduced power once the battery gets to 50% or so. Just took it out for a spin at 42% battery and maxed out at 19.5mph (31.40kmh) in sport mode. I likely got 1 mph more because the scooter was only 27C when I tried max speed at 42% battery. I’d imagine if it was 40C+ it might be a bit slower.
@@tomsgadgetgarage yeah, it doesn't get to 35 kmh anymore when you are at 50% or less. I wonder if it's a glitch or just standard behavior? Thanks for confirming 🙂🤙🏽
@@MoiAgui its normal 36v battery issue, one of the biggest negatives of G2. 48v would retain the same performance on 10% of battery the same as it did on 100%, but the strain would be bigger, and i guess G2 went towards more longevity (although imo, 36v sucks ass)
Yah we have lots of stuff like that here in the Phoenix area. I’ve had no issue with the tires so far. They are self-sealing in the event of a puncture. I put air in them every few weeks, but not much.
should recheck them every week for them to be ~48psi or at least that range. If after driving same road your tires dont lose psi too much can extend it to couple of weeks. You generally want your tires to be "healthy" aka high psi for longevity and performance on road.
So I’ve definitely seen people do that, but I don’t think there’s a plug and play option. There are some RUclips videos on the topic but I have no experience in that area :(.
Hey great video, thank you for making the effort. This scooter is over budget for me, would you recommend the F2 Pro as an alternative (I only need it for a 6 km commute over road, barely any elevation). Hope you can answer my question, thanks.
Hey, Thank you! I don't have any experience with the F2 Pro, but based on the spec sheet and what I've read, it's got many of the features of the Max G2. What it also has that the Max G2 doesn't is disc brakes in the front, which are absolutely an upgrade over the front drum brakes the G2 has. Drum brakes are generally less maintenance, but don't have the stopping power of disc brakes. It's also much lighter than the Max G2 which will make it much easier to transport when you're not riding it. It doesn't have a rear suspension but it does have a front shock absorber, which is much better than no suspension at all.
Wow thats a lot of stress for the battery and motor, would recommend something above 1000 nominal wats, like a laotie t30 or laotie L8s pro wich has dual 1000 nominal wat motors and its around the same price as this scooter
I believe my best was 51km of range. That was when they first released the Max G2 in 2023. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to hit that mark since they pushed out all the firmware updates.
I am about 110kg in weight without gear, and about 150kg with gear and backpack, would this scooter make the cut for me? or will it overheat? is there a version that has cooling? how do you manage the overheating while going against time?
Hey! Without gear you’d be fine. They’ve fixed the overheating issue some users had experienced with multiple firmware updates. I’ve ridden this scooter here in the blazing Arizona desert heat with not a single instance of overheating. In terms of your weight with gear at 150kg, you’d be outside the recommended weight limit of 120kg and will likely experience drastically reduced braking power as well as lower acceleration, top speed, and hill climb ability. I would honestly recommend something with more power if you plan to ride at 150kg. Those types of scooters will cost more but you’ll have a much better experience.
@@gentshehu1102 I can only say same I (75 kg) did manage to carry a new segway p65l scooter on the handlebar of the g2 max up hills and it went well and me and my friend (140kg) were able to climb hills too with the g2 max I love that scooter :D
Hey! So this is the mirror I use amzn.to/3s0oPme. It has a long arm that extends out to the end of the handlebars. This allows you to see to your side and behind you.
For sure. Adjustable handlebars would definitely be a plus for people of varying heights as well as for comfort in general. Even someone of the same height might prefer the handlebar higher or lower, similar to a car seat.
Thanx for the video! For potential buyers: If your weight more than 85kg and you have incline in your driving way more than 15% (percent) - avoid! You wont make it up.
If you plan on riding super steep hills for long distances, I’d recommend a scooter with dual motors or a single motor with significantly more output. For light to moderate hills, the Max G2 does a great job.
No break test, neither the regen breaking powers!!! It's extremely important!😮. Somebody should review these. ASAP! 7/10 rating.😊 In sunlight you cannot read the screen!!! 1/10 only.😮.
bro you need to change your glasses to more square shaped. you look like the "nerd" emoji with these glasses. just change the glasses frame shape and ur good to go.
I don’t like the idea of an internal power supply when charging a scooter. If it blows, it’s a lot more of a pain in the ass to replace that rather than just a chargers with an external power supply
That’s a great point. Prior to the Max G2, I bought an NIU KQI3 Max and the first thing I noticed was the external charger got very hot and was clunky. Definitely like the idea of a simple cable, but you’re absolutely right, if the charger goes, that means opening up the scooter to address it rather than simply replacing the charging brick.
Good review! Thank you for making the effort to objectively and fairly reviewing this beast.
Thank you! Trying my best to answer the same questions I had before I bought this scooter :).
Sounds like you need to replace the rubber foot pad with a white rubber pad. I measured the surface temperature of my black truck on a hot day. it is around 180 and my silver van is around 110-120
That’s probably a major contributing factor haha. They should launch a white or beige edition for hot climates.
Im surprised you didnt mention the dim display. People are saying that they cant see the display in direct sunlight.
I believe it's the plastic cover. it's a bit more tinted.. you can order one for a g30 max and should be fine
That’s a great suggestion, may have to try that out.
who da f*ck needs a display when riding. it's so OCD behavior. u start at 0. 3 seconds later u reached 22mi topspeed. wow was that worth it?
One thing I am missing is the issue of weight. The suspension and long range comes at a cost as the scooter weighs 24,3kg or 53,5 lbs.

Great honest review!.. I like the way you presented the good and the bad. I expect to receive my Mac G2 today and was afraid of not making the right choice. Thank you! ✨
Thank you! Congrats on the new scooter. The Max G2 is an excellent everyday commuter scooter so you definitely made a good choice. Enjoy the ride!
I had no idea there was a dashboard mode. That would make for a great shorts video ;)
I personally managed to get 27KM with a healthy dose of stop-and-go's at 240lbs. I did not get any high-temperature warnings, but it took a very long time for the motor to cool off before I could charge the scooter. I got super anxious thinking I broke it after my first big ride.

Which do you think is better in quality Segway G2 or NIU KQi 300P?
I think both are excellent but if I have to give an edge to one, it’d be the Max G2. It’s a VERY solid scooter with lots of metal in its construction.
6:50 it is supposed to be annoying to tell you to turn it off lol that is why that feature is there
Ha! Good point. Yah when I first got the scooter I remembered the signal sound being much louder. After some firmware updates I think it got quieter. I could very well be dreaming though lol. It would be awesome if it made a sound similar to a car’s turn signal.

I want to see the same review with the F2 pro
If I can get my hands on an F2 Pro I’ll do it. From what I’ve read the F2 offers a lot of value for the price.
Mine is at 550 km and the suspension on the back and front is honestly fucked up.Going into small holes or going up a curb the suspension bottom outs and there is this heartbreaking sound of metal hitting.Ive already adjusted the springs and nothing fixes it can somebody help me?

I’m thinking about buying one for riding to and from school ( abt 7 kilometres away) would you recommend me getting this or another scooter considering I have a need for speed as well

I definitely agree that losing the acceleration sucked. It seems all of this was done to reduce overheating. At 195 lbs I’ve never once experienced overheating so it kinda sucked to lose some performance. Hopefully we can get some of that back in a future firmware update.
I have been enjoying your videos on the G2, thanks for making them. After the latest update have you noticed any issues climbing hills?
Hey! Thank you! I did ride around a steep parking garage and didn’t have any issues. I plan on doing a 10+ mile ride up a hilly area this week and will post a video of the results later this week. Hey! So I posted the updated hill climb video today. Climbs just as well as it did in the first video :).

Yah you’ll have a much better experience with a scooter with more power. The Max G2 will handle riders up to 265, but at or near that limit, speed and range will be impacted.
I've heard great things about the VMAX VX4 and it has a 330lb capacity.

I know this is late, but the battery on the G2 Max, is a only a 36 volt battery, so the performance drops after 50 percent.
@@MoiAgui its normal 36v battery issue, one of the biggest negatives of G2. 48v would retain the same performance on 10% of battery the same as it did on 100%, but the strain would be bigger, and i guess G2 went towards more longevity (although imo, 36v sucks ass)
Do you have to put air in the tires im in the desert with alot of little bush stickers will the tires last are they thick enough thx
You generally want your tires to be "healthy" aka high psi for longevity and performance on road.
whats you weight?
i am thinking about buying it but i am 260lbs/ 120kg.
I’m 195 lbs / 88.5kg.
Can we buy an external battery for it so we can extend the Riding Range mile?
So I’ve definitely seen people do that, but I don’t think there’s a plug and play option. There are some RUclips videos on the topic but I have no experience in that area :(.
@@tomsgadgetgarage thanks.

Hello! The suspension on the scooter is very comfortable. Handles rough roads with ease.
@@tomsgadgetgarage thnak you 👍
Hey great video, thank you for making the effort.
Hello do u think it will climb 30*degrees with a 300lbs rider, or 133kg:) ty for answers.
I don’t think it would be able to do that very well. They claim 22 degrees but that’s with a test rider weighing 75kg.
Wow thats a lot of stress for the battery and motor, would recommend something above 1000 nominal wats, like a laotie t30 or laotie L8s pro wich has dual 1000 nominal wat motors and its around the same price as this scooter
Just got mine today but the throttle is not responding plz help me 😢😢😢
Hmm, you have to get it moving at least 1.8mph to get the motor to kick in. Have you tried that yet? You can also adjust this speed in the app.
How did you get it to go 40km😮
Those types of scooters will cost more but you’ll have a much better experience.
dont worry about the 150 kg because I go with my wife every day and both we are 150 kg. And goes very well.
@@gentshehu1102 I can only say same I (75 kg) did manage to carry a new segway p65l scooter on the handlebar of the g2 max up hills and it went well and me and my friend (140kg) were able to climb hills too with the g2 max I love that scooter :D
Where did u get the mirror from
Hey! So this is the mirror I use amzn.to/3s0oPme. It has a long arm that extends out to the end of the handlebars. This allows you to see to your side and behind you.
I have 1100 kilometers on mine. Its great. I live in a rainy area an i can say it really waterproof.
That’s awesome to hear about the water resistance. I’ve driven through one heavy rainstorm, and not by choice haha.
1100km wow😮
@@ESTADOÉUMAGANGUEIMPOSTOÉROUBO 1600 now.
How much do you weigh?
195 lbs
too bad it didn't come with an adjustable handlebars bc the handlebars sit too damn high. i´m 163cm
It works, no issues whatsoever.
If you plan on riding super steep hills for long distances, I’d recommend a scooter with dual motors or a single motor with significantly more output. For light to moderate hills, the Max G2 does a great job.
This is the new Tesla scooter . I love it I am so happy for my purchase.
Congrats! It’s an excellent all around scooter :).
No break test, neither the regen breaking powers!!! It's extremely important!😮. Somebody should review these. ASAP!
7/10 rating.😊
In sunlight you cannot read the screen!!!

@@tomsgadgetgarage yeah that’s true. My chargers on my Kaabo Wolf Warrior X GT get warm, but not to the touch
There's also a normal charger port, so you can still use external chargers.
Brake lever is plastic😡
Yah unfortunately that’s par for the course in this category. Good news is that it’s held up well for me over the last 16 months.
