You the man Tom! Most YTuber's would start looking for sympathy after a fall. There's a video of a dude falling from a trike because he took a turn too fast and they kept milking it. But all you did was to say "I ate it" right on brother, Respect!
I logged in today specifically to like and comment on your videos. I saw them as they dropped but it's been a crazy work week! Love the trail ride and I'm glad you were relatively okay. At lease you had on long pants and jacket. Still, I was surprised at how bad your knee got it. Sorry it happened bro. I was laughing along with you when it was evident you were alright. Entertaining as heck though. Thanks for all your work on this scooter! You absolutely have the most detailed scooter reviews on the tube!
Thanks! Yah landing on a rock with my shin was pretty awful lol. After about 8 minutes of reflecting on life it started feeling good enough to complete the ride haha. Yah the ZT3 Pro uses a lot of hollowed out plastic trim which does a good job of absorbing some of that impact when it drops. I also see they sell trim piece replacements. They come off with two screws, so maybe those were designed intentionally.
Glad you are okay,it is easy to get hurt.i am 58 years old and learned from past mistakes.i have the ausom gallop and only reach top speed in safe conditions.😊
Thanks! Yah that’s my first fall off of a scooter. That rock I landed on didn’t feel good at all lol. I’ve taken the Gallop off road and dual motors helps quite a bit with traction on rocky and dirt covered surfaces.
yea, glad your ok, need to be careful, as it a beast, i got mine 1 week ago, and i thought it was going to be the same general size as my NInebot Max,, its like 4 times the size, and its more like a "motorcycle" then a scooter. But I LOVE it, and I have the seat coming though in next week, (215 including 85 bucks shipping, but has helmet case under, seat and will look really slick, and i think will" tame it some" i think, as it does pull soo hard, it hard on my hands, (im 59, but still sorta a maniaic) and i do dig mine so far
Thanks! Yah it really does pull, especially in Sport mode. Is that the seat they have on the China version of their site? If so, that thing looks sick. My dad is 67 and rides around on my dual motor Gallop and he too is a maniac haha. And you’re right, the ZT3 Pro is huge compared to the Max G2. It’s a solid scooter for sure. Just need to be careful taking turns on gravel.
Yah man, had my foot not gotten stuck on that trim piece, I probably could have bailed. By the time my foot got loose I was already tilted too far over so I landed on my knee. To heck with that rock 🤣. All is good now. Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as my fall at 28mph on an electric skateboard. I caught that with the Insta360 lol. I remember your big fall earlier this year from that road debris. The things we do for that feeling of freedom lol.
Aaaawwww man sorry to see you fall glad your ok and man riding in that loose dirt is real tricky I'm not sure how it's going to be in 2wd next year for me when I upgrade from the ninebot G2 max
Yah thankfully it wasn’t too crazy. 2WD will definitely fare better, but there’s still the issue of high center of gravity on smaller wheels. Just have to take it easy. That kind of terrain is way more fun on a bike haha.
Oh no! Hope you were able to walk away in one piece with no major injuries. Falling really sucks, especially without the right safety gear. I see folks riding at extreme speeds and don’t even want to imagine what a crash like that would look like.
Another great video mate hope your not to messed up . Do you think that if you had traction control on would that of helped . From watching the video I don't think it would of made any difference.
Thank you! I’m not sure if traction control would have helped. I read somewhere something about not using traction control when riding off road, but I could be dreaming. I may test it out on a flat dirt surface though. When I fell it was mostly due to me trying to turn in deeper gravel haha. I was too focused on whether to go left or right. When I finally decided to go right that when I got into trouble.
Took one for the team 😆 I admit I was chucklin’ even before the crash 😆 just knowing it was coming and how dangerous and so not meant for off-roading/any rough conditions any of these scooters are. Whew. Glad it wasn’t worse and hope you recover fast! And to anybody watching..yeahh don’t do this.. you’ll easily go over the handlebars going down a slope or fall and injure yourself (it happens too fast), and after a few of these rough-terrain goofoff sesh’s some component on that thing is gonna get janky. Glad it has 11 inch wheels and some tread on the tires though, unlike my Emove Cruiser V2! The thing has bare road bike tires and I’m afraid to turn on a bit too sharp even on a dry level road!
LOL! Yah they feel great on nice paved surfaces. In sport mode, the throttle is too touchy. But drive mode doesn’t have enough power to make it up the steeper stuff. And you’re right, going down a steep dirt hill is slightly terrifying. Basically have to shift all your weight back in a crouched down position.
I forgot where I heard it, but two dudes that were reviewing the ZT3 on RUclips mentioned that turning slowly felt very odd and they thought it had something to do with the fork’s design.
Ah yes I think that was the Freshly Charged channel. Yah several pointed out that its caster angle which helps improve straight line stability, which explains why it rides like it’s on rails. But at slower speeds the steering feels different.
Thanks, yah it was a lesson in reality haha! I did get the cruise control working. I reached out to Segway and they recommended unbinding the scooter from the app and rebinding. Funny enough, it worked like a charm. Didn’t think it would be that simple :).
The fact is: All E-Scooters are designed for Flat dry roads. Don't believe anyone (including segway) when they say Off-road Scooters or off-road tyre- It's marketing bulltshit to steal your money & they succeeded 🤷♂You paid the price at your own risk buddy. Get better 👉
Haha yah the whole thing made me feel a bit uneasy. The advertising has some adrenaline pumping music and fast cuts haha. The question really isn’t if it could go off road, it’s more along the lines of if you should. I think a bike is the proper tool for this job.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Well I have the correct answer for both questions. Could? Yes, Should? Of course not. It's really that simple. The fact that it can doesn't mean it should. In all cases, Electric Scooters perform much better on flatter surfaces which has the additional benefit of travelling faster and safer. In fact, there is more danger for all vehicles that go on random surfaces so it's not exclusive to Electirc scooters. Furtheremore, there is more chance the tyre will break on random surfaces, random being non flat surfaces & potentially sharp surfaces. Will you drive off road with an electric scooter again then? 🤔
But the advertisements show them riding in the Grand Canyon or some place similar 🤣. Yah I’m not too interested in riding scooters off road. Hard packed dirt in straight lines, no problem. But the off road that everyone thinks about when we say off road, hard pass.
In that situation, I don’t think so. That was mostly me not paying attention and trying to turn on gravel. Dual motors would help going up some of the inclines as well as help avoid some of the fishtailing behavior when you hit the throttle in a turn.
Yah I’ve really been enjoying this thing. The brakes are touchy and take getting used to and you’re right, the range is not great, especially when riding around in Sport mode at higher speeds.
Probably 203lb with all the skin you left on the trail. Thanks Tom, I'm sure you didn't intend on this being a visual demonstration on limits and safety. That was a well done segue. How do you think the gallop would fare with the dual motor? Just as an off road cruiser not as a scootercross contestant.
Haha yes, I envisioned a very different start of the ride. I did take the Gallop off road on a few occasions and it fared quite well. Less fishtailing behavior, more power up the inclines. But at the end of the day it’s still a scooter, so things can get hairy quickly. Riding down steep embankments requires you to really get low and shift your weight back to prevent falling over the handlebars. I think riding off road on trails is possible, but I honestly wouldn’t do it at more than 10 mph or so. If there’s lots of gravel, it’s no longer even remotely fun as the tires are just too small. High center of gravity and small wheels aren’t great for turning on gravel/dirt. With that being said, some of these “off road” scooters are actually great for riding on road as they are able to handle some not so ideal road conditions a lot better than your standard commuter scooter. I personally will likely limit my off road time on scooters and just stick to tackling that kind of terrain with my e-bike.
@tomsgadgetgarage Thank you for the reply Tom! I have a few shortcuts that are small dirt trails, they are flat and hard packed. I still keep it under 10. Thanks for all the great work on your reviews.

I am so glad you recovered so quickly during the ride. Tank of a scooter
you think that scooter is a tank, you havent seen any of the other scooters out there that arent the segways
Thanks! Yah landing on a rock with my shin was pretty awful lol. After about 8 minutes of reflecting on life it started feeling good enough to complete the ride haha.

I wiped out a few weeks ago. Did a barrel roll and had to fix the alignment of the handle. Good vid.
Oh no! Did you make it out in one piece? The falls are the worst lol. I got up and was like, “what am I doing out here” 🤣.
@tomsgadgetgarage dusted off and walked away. A few scratches on me and the scoot. All good brother.
Oh god i felt the pain of that and i wasnt even there. 😭. I hope your ok man. Make sure to get that knee checked out. 🙏
Yah man, had my foot not gotten stuck on that trim piece, I probably could have bailed. By the time my foot got loose I was already tilted too far over so I landed on my knee. @tomsgadgetgarage oh I hear that and next year I might take a chance and off road on the gotrax gx3 my mind is set on that scooter
Crashed after 4000km and I think I'm done. It was great while it lasted but a fall from an escooter is pretty unforgiving.
Oh no! Hope you were able to walk away in one piece with no major injuries. Falling really sucks, especially without the right safety gear. I see folks riding at extreme speeds and don’t even want to imagine what a crash like that would look like.

I always say there’s no such thing as an off road scooter for all the reasons you covered.
Yah it’s pretty sketchy when turning on gravel/dirt roads. Good torque on some of the inclines, but deeper gravel/powdered dirt is no fun at all.
Big Facts!
Took one for the team 😆 I admit I was chucklin’ even before the crash 😆 just knowing it was coming and how dangerous and so not meant for off-roading/any rough conditions any of these scooters are.

I wiped out on my mountain bike and this same scooter, in the same day... that damn front wheel... lol
Oh wow, that really sucks. Yah that front wheel haha. I turned the handlebars but it kept going straight 🤣. Hopefully you had more gear on than I did.
I forgot where I heard it, but two dudes that were reviewing the ZT3 on RUclips mentioned that turning slowly felt very odd and they thought it had something to do with the fork’s design.

It’s not that bad turning slowly.
Jaygo from New York. Sorry that happened to you. Sand and deep dirt don’t mix well.
Did you ever get your cruise working or fixed?
Thanks, yah it was a lesson in reality haha! I did get the cruise control working. I reached out to Segway and they recommended unbinding the scooter from the app and rebinding. Funny enough, it worked like a charm. Didn’t think it would be that simple :).
I am so glad the bike is ok ;-)
Haha!

Glad your ok, I think I would stick to the road and paved trails with a scooter, but maybe that's just me
Thank you! Yah paved surfaces are ideal haha. High center of gravity in a standing position on something with small wheels isn’t a great combo.
still no release in europe on the segway website
Hmm, I’ve heard of folks getting them in Europe but with speed restricted. Where are you located in Europe?
Great video UK 🇬🇧 👍
Thanks!
Price please 🙏
I want that phone mount but there a little bit to expensive for me 😂
Ha! This is an unbranded version of the Quad Lock case I bought on Amazon and it disappeared a couple days after I bought it. I paid $11.99.
I’m still absolutely loving everything about my zt3 except the range , the range is terrible .
Yah I’ve really been enjoying this thing. The brakes are touchy and take getting used to and you’re right, the range is not great, especially when riding around in Sport mode at higher speeds.

💯 I had 50% of the gear and paid for it.
@@tomsgadgetgarage Could have been worse. Glad it wasn't.
