    I am astonished at what an upgrade the G3 is over the G2. I guess it has been pressure from all the other manufacturers - but Segway has really scored a big one here.

      Yah I’m pretty shocked as well to be honest. It took like 4 years or something crazy to go from the Ninebot G30 to the Max G2 and 18 months to basically get us to the G3.
      Competition has definitely ramped up. Apollo came out with the GO which has very good top speed and acceleration performance. Then NIU launched their 300X. Then there’s the VMAX and GoTrax offerings plus the crazy powerful scooters from smaller brands that are often priced under $1200.
      I’m especially impressed with the new GT3. I honestly think it’s a steal of a deal at $1,499. Sure there are plenty of scooters that go much faster, can climb hills better, and likely get more range for less $, but the ride feel on the GT3 is next level. Its weight makes it feel very well grounded and everything about it is smooth.
      Feels like Segway really listened to customers with many of the changes on the G3, especially the rear hydraulic suspension, ergonomic controls, and info rich display.

      @@tomsgadgetgarage The issue with the Apollo Go, at least in Australia where it was recently released (and where I am) is that it is almost twice the price of the G2. Is the Apollo Go better than the G2? Clearly yes, but is it twice as good? Clearly not. Now the G3 beats the Apollo Go in every (and I do mean every) spec, and it will be cheaper than the Go. That is incredible and really aggressive by Segway. Of course the real winner will be us - the end user!

    After owning the G2, I considered upgrading to the G3, but I don’t like how oversized it is (wheels are 11” instead of 10”, it’s at least 4 cm longer, and overall, it looks like a tank). If you’re going for something that large, it should offer more to justify its size-something closer to the GT3 category. In that category, you’d expect features like a more advanced suspension, a larger battery, significantly better brakes, and an overall superior ride experience.
    The G3 doesn’t deliver on these expectations. Instead, it’s just a bulky city scooter with a limited range (yes, I know some will suggest adding an external battery, but that’s just marketing). Given its size, Segway could’ve easily fit the same internal battery as the GT3 (900Wh) using 21700 cells. But they didn’t. Instead, they push you to buy an external battery that ends up permanently attached because the built-in battery alone is too small, just like on the G2.
    The GT3 Pro is clearly a no-brainer for a high-end scooter, but what I really need is a second scooter for the city-something lighter and simpler for short trips. That’s why I’ve realized the F3 Pro is the better choice. It’s lighter, has better suspension and features, and is overall a more practical upgrade from the G2.

      @tomsgadgetgarage  День назад +1

      I think these are very different scooters. I actually got the Segway bug and took out the ZT3 Pro for a spin this morning to see how they compare haha. The ZT3 Pro has a kick plate at the rear which is SUPER nice to have. The Max G3 has a little flare at the rear but not enough to call it a kick plate. There were a couple times when I actually stepped on the G3’s rear fender. With 2k watts of peak power, I would have loved to see a functional kick plate.
      The ZT3 pro has more ground clearance, which can be helpful in certain situations. On paper, the Max G3 has more wattage, but I’m not sure how the torque compares. The ZT3 Pro made it up my extreme hill climb test with ease. It’ll be interesting to see if the G3 can do the same.
      Now the G3 has the superior suspension and a much cooler display. The ZT3 Pro rides more on the firm side. Batteries are exactly the same but I’m not sure about real world range in the G3 yet.
      As for size, the ZT3 pro is significantly larger and provides more room for foot placement.

    With the likely eventual UK law on scooters matching other European countries where it’s a 500 watt nominal limit (meaning the F and G series are good for all currently), the G3 just isn’t going to be technically legal and so it’s going to be a drop to the F series for most so glad Fe now has full suspension etc but going to have smaller range. I also think many prefer the drum brake from a maintenance perspective especially dual drum set ups so I think in the US that Segway will sell a bucket load of G3’s but in Europe not so much and the F series will have so much competition from the likes of Niu and Vmax. Very nice looking scooters from Segway as usual and good improvements particularly in the cock pit layout and screen. And first video I’ve seen properly going through them all so thanks Tom! Most seem to go for 25kph max speed (so why buy a gt1 over the G3 for example meaning Segway customers buy cheaper models), Slovenia, Czech rep have a 250 watt cap it looks like which is nuts, Austria and Croatia have a 600 watt max power limit, even Finland have a 1000 watt limit. Sadly the UK will be on the stricter end when after 4 years of trials they get their act together. My point was merely Segway are doing the go up the power trend which limits the amount they can sell their more premium scooters in many parts of Europe so people that want a G3 might now opt for the F3 but due to range might go for a different company. Pure electric from uk have a 500 watt limit on theirs specifically based on the expectation that that’s what the law will eventually be for nominal power.

    Those little ramps are not a real test. Momentum will carry you up and over it. To really test it, you need to go on a real hill where a sustained load can be put on it. Here in Calif (LA area) too many people ride these on the sidewalk at very high speed. I got hit by some guy on a Lime scooter. He jumped up and said "My Bad" and rode off. By the way, I am an amputee in an electric wheel chair and I was thrown out of my chair. Had to use my own medical insurance to get stitches. Unfortunately not many users have insurance.

      Oh man that sucks. Hopefully you recovered quickly from that. The town where I live actually made it illegal to use scooters in the bike lane. They are only permitted on streets with speeds of 25mph or less and sidewalks. Thankfully a scooter loving city is just across the street. Scooters on sidewalks doesn’t make sense to me. A lady out here was sent to the ICU because a kid plowed into her at 20mph and fled the scene.
      As for those ramps, definitely not a good test of hill climb performance. I actually test most scooters on an endurance hill climb (~1,900 ft elevation gain over 9.5miles of uphill riding) and a very steep 23% grade on the Phoenix Metro’s steepest publicly accessible paved road.

      Yeah, thumb throttles are nice on scooters. Index finger throttles are pretty sweet as well.

      That’s the peculiar thing about this journey we call life. There’s danger at every corner, yet we still step out that front door into the world to experience what it has to offer. The best we can do is measure the risks and rewards and see if the juice is worth the squeeze. And if it is, take the necessary precautions to mitigate risk.
