I really appreciate the way you show that “happy mistakes” can still turn out great! I’m more likely to be patient with my projects. You’re teaching is real and your work is lovely 😊
All tile sets look so pretty. I liked the middle one where it got a bit messed up, but looks in fact so neat. Can you also do a tutorial using Art Resin when you seal these tiles. Would love to see that..thanks!
Your work is beautiful, can,t wait to figure out a space to do it. Have bee painting since a paint&sip class since 2014. Do pictures of anything that takes my interest. Need to get set up for pouring. At 87 moving in one room with daughter but want to keep painting. Been told I should sell.
So glad I found you channel Kanella! I am Canadian as well and started Pouring in November of last year and had a hard time finding other Canadians on RUclips. I'm so glad you started a channel so I can get the same supplies you can. Your pours are Beautiful by the way. I'm looking forward to following you. And one day I'm going to start a channel too. Im just camera shy...lol
Hi Sheena! Thanks and welcome to my channel! Where in Canada are you from? It's nice to see fellow Canucks on here... :) I hope you enjoy my videos...:)
I know this is an old video but what about pouring the paint in the center of the 4 tiles? I just did 9 tiles all different colors with black, white and silver.. I love this.. I’ll do these next..
Many lives I've seen required a run for supplies. We're all human! Don't fret about it!! Talk amongst yourselves is a humorous way to leave your audience for a minute or two! 😉
Hi, its me again......I like the idea of your backing on the canvases.....how do you finish your tile slides...you were going to do it off camera but I’d like to your process. I love these tiles....I’ve used the tiles for alcohol inks, but I want to try the Dutch poor.....thanks
Nice going on your painted tiles,1st and 3rd I really like, you seem to get good results when using blues .I have found myself not using so much black or grey paint as they seem to take over the other color paints. What are you going to use as a backing for the tiles.Hope you don't mind me asking Kanella, were did you get your big Popsicle sticks from.
Julie Price hi Julie, thanks for the lovely comment. And please, feel free to ask any questions you want. That’s why I do these videos, to help people. I love blues, I’ve used them so many times... they mix well and there’s no chance of them turning to mud. I have never tried black and white as all I see is a grey mess lol As for the backs of the tiles, I actually use foam. I buy a large roll of it from michaels (in the felt section) and cut out the squares and then hot glue them to the back of my tiles. I’ve seen people use cork but I find the cork crumbles when you cut it. So I use the foam instead. I get the large popsicle sticks from the dollar store. 😊
Hi Kanella, I'm just down the hwy from you in Toronto :) The suggestion of the colour swatches from the paint department is fantastic! I was wondering when you mixed paints in the little cups or any cups I guess, did you just cover the leftovers with plastic wrap? Thanks, Go Raptors!
Beautiful love watching your videos you said you mix only floetrol plus paint A little confused as I watched another one of yours and I thought you said floetrol paint and water mix also to do the base coat is it one of the above mixes thanks and do you seal your coaster before resin thanks
the video with the paint mixing ratios has a 'please read' in the description. I have since changed my white ratio - so yes, you need water in the white (same mixture as the coloured paints) and no, i don't prep my tiles before resin :)
These are beautiful! Do you use the matt finish tile, or just the regular glossy ones? Where do you get the Art Resin? Do you put anything like felt on the back? How much $ do you sell for?
Hi Carole, I just use the shiny ones - i buy the ArtResin on Amazon (i have links for Amazon in my most recent videos - this one is an old video) for the back I add foam... check out my video #37 - you will see the back of my coasters in that video. I sell these ones for $35 Canadian for a set of 4

Carol Alexander no problem Carol. I just use a cheap hair dryer that I bought at Walmart. It’s ‘conair’. Don’t blow with a straw. That’s the worst thing you can do. You will get all dizzy and it doesn’t work well. If you have to blow, just use your mouth. Your mouth is wider than a straw so you will blow less than if you were using the straw.
@@KanellaCiracoArt I will look for a dryer at Walmart. Yeah, last painting I spent hours on it with a straw, then ended up pouring over it, so I hope not to do that again. I will continue to learn. Thanks

Gave me a great idea for a kitchen splash back. Do the tiles then mount them behind the stove after an epoxy clear coat.

How well does the acrylic adhere to the tile? Do you seal it with anything? Thanks!
Hi Dave, it adheres really well. I have never had an issue with cracking or peeling.. ever! When they are dry I add a top coat of ArtResin on them
looking great

They look great! How do you seal the paint to the coaster so it doesn’t peel off?

which do you find nicer to use, the dutch pour recipe vs the bloom recipe on the tiles?

no - not ready pour paint... check out my video #63 for paint info

Love these! Could they be used as trivets or would heat not be good on the resin?
Thanks Melinda - no, the hottest thing you can use them with is a coffee mug.
Epoxy resin will withstand up to 500 degrees ! Get the high heat epoxy resin not the art resin.👌
nice job. I might have added another red/violet to the second one for a bit more variation
Karin Egdorf thanks Karin!

I have no clue. I also don’t remember saying that. Keep in mind this is a video that’s over 4 years old. Sorry but I don’t remember any of that.

I use Krystal Resin - if you check out my newer videos you’ll see videos of me using it etc
What is the drying (curing) time for coasters? Would it be the same as canvas projects?
its actually faster most times... 2-3 days
is that a heat gun or a torch? it looks so tiny. curious as to the brand. thanks so much
Hi there, it's a torch. I do not know the brand. I bought it off amazon and it's called a culinary torch.
love your work, what do you use to hold your coasters up of the paper?
Laurie Holden thanks Laurie. They’re small plastic shot glasses that I buy from the dollar store.

thanks for binge watching :)
What do you put on after you paint the coasters as a clear
Epoxy resin
Hi Karnella
Loved the video.. My fav is the Purple set....
Just wondering, with all the paint on them how long does it take for them to dry?
coasters dry pretty quickly actually - a lot quicker than canvases - maybe 3-4 days tops
@@KanellaCiracoArt Thats great..
Thank You. Have a Great Weekend
I'm sorry just noticed I spelled your name wrong. 😱
Does it matter of the tiles are glazed or unglazed?
Ok I tried to look in ???? But. What are you using in your base white for pillow or base color/sides
my base white is artists loft flow acrylic white paint
How long do you wait before you resin?
as soon as they are fully dry to the touch
C'est magnifique !!!! Est ce que tu vernis après ?? Merci pour le partage :-)
Do you glue felt or anything to the bottoms of the coasters to keep from scratching furniture?
yes, I add cork backing - check out my video #126 - i show a coaster with a backing in that video
how do you finish off the backs of the coasters to keep drips off furniture or is their another video for that. Thanks for sharing.
no video - i just use cork backings - you can find them listed in my amazon shop (in my newer videos - this is a really old one lol)
Thanks just getting around to coasters. lol@@KanellaCiracoArt
I don,t no if you got other message. Is a heat gun and torch one and the same?
no, a heat gun is typically used for resin
Do you do any etching or sanding to the tiles to make the paint adhere better?
nope - i just pour right on them :)
@@KanellaCiracoArt dont they peel off or do you resin?
Kanella, are the ceramic tiles that you use matte finish or glossy finish, before you start putting paint on? They look matte to me but I wanted to make sure.
hi Carol, they are glossy tiles
Kanella, thank you for your reply.
I love your work, how thick are the tile and if I use a thin tile would it work as well
Did you protect the backs
Yes with tape
Would you show us the flip technique please? I really want to do that. I have done coasters with alcohol ink and made them heat proof. They were a hit. Thank you. God bless.
sorry but i dont do flip cup pours... not my thing lol
Do you "prep" the tile in any way? Do you glaze/varnish the tiles after they are dry?
I only tape the bottoms.. I do not do anything to the top of the tile. I put a top coat of resin on the coasters when they are done (i have a video showing that #15)
💗❤️💕
Do you have to worry about the drips pulling the paint of the tiles as well?
yes tina... tiles too!
@@KanellaCiracoArt thank you so so much for answering all my questions..sorry for being a pain..lol..thanks again😊😊😊
I agree with you about the purple coasters. It seems as if the paynes gray is muddying the outcome. The others are gorgeous.
Sarah I will have to try again, without the Payne’s grey! 😊
@@KanellaCiracoArt nooo love the Paynes gray!
Where did you get that litttle torch?
Amazon - do a search for 'culinary torch' :)
I'm wondering why you don't pour the paint the same way you do on canvas? Squiggly lines across the middle and then blow out.
because when i made this video and these piece it was about 5 months ago - I had not started the whole squiggly line yet idea...
Are those tiles stuck together? glue or grout?
no, they are not stuck together. These are coasters made from 4" ceramic tiles... I just put them together for the purpose of taking a picture. they are all individually done.
Lower setting on the hair dryer would keep your colors from getting muddy.
No, the lower setting won't push my paint around.. I have tried...
I also don't think my colours turned muddy on any of these.,...
Love these! I have a question. Do you put a resin coating or something on them?
Gabrielle Schmidt thanks hun. When they are dry yes, I put a coat of resin on top. Check out video #15. I think I show it in that video.
Do you think you can use this type of tiles as a backsplash in the kitchen once you
seal the tiles?
Hi Christine, yes you can.. i have seen it done before many times.
Do they seal it with resin or something else?
Christine Hatker-Watler all my tiles are sealed with resin.
