Cover the bottoms of your coasters with painters tape before painting. Leave the tape on until you’re done resining. Use your heat gun to soften the resin drips as you peal off the paint. Bottoms come out clean and ready for cork.
Thanks. Just got into paint pouring, done 8 8x10s and didn't turn out great but learning. Saw your video ran out got tiles for .11 each, came home with 40 for just over $4, not bad. Just did 1 with neon paints and looks great. Sadly my place only had white and no octagonal . Subscribed!
Wow! I've watched hundreds of videos on RUclips about fluid art, but I've never enjoyed any as much as I did yours. Your explanation was right on hitting so many details about how just making coasters can be so tedious and time consuming all while making me laugh. Really enjoy your sense of humor.
Girl just have to say you are definitely my favorite!!! You make the best of everything by making fun of yourself! Keep being you... and NEVER stop❤️❤️❤️
I had my 1st coffee of the day with you and wow thanks I was going to wander down that road and still might I do want a set for myself. I use to make 3d butterflies and they were very time consuming I made 1000,s over a few years and only have one left for me. Retired from working now and want to keep busy crafting and painting is my go to. Thank you for a clear view of what I am about to take on and bless you for your wtf My kids call me the wood witch so from one to another Thank you
It's certainly worth it as long as it's fun for you! I make them for myself and family, but I must admit making them to sell has lost its luster for me. I'd rather work on items that will hang on the walls. Speaking of 3D butterflies, I made one of those recently (steampunk style) out of polymer clay and mounted it to a fluid art painting. I have a video on that, maybe the second-to-most-recent? Is that the kind of 3D work you make? And funny... I haunt a little patch of woods here in WI and can only imagine what my neighbors call me ;)
Right?! I have 60 tiles of various shapes and sizes that need a resin coat. Gotta wait until it's at least 20 ABOVE 0 - I can't get my house warm enough right now!
@@PaintedRaina I hear you! I was the same. I have spent 2 full days resining and today is the third! I will never put myself in this position again 😳🤦♀️. The things we do to ourselves LOL.
Thank you so much for sharing this.... I have 1 bucket of coasters to resin and I've never resined before... So I'm putting it off! Yours are beautiful ❤️
I am so glad I found you! You are gorgeous but more importantly you have me over here LMAO while I learn another way to do tile. Thanks for just being you but I must say Lady R, you missed your calling.
Great video and so true! They are a lot of work! Your humor is very entertaining and you're definitely my kind of gal! Say it like it is no gray area! Love your work! I see your comments in the group. I love the Shelee art family! The camaraderie is above and beyond extraordinary. I will keep tuned in on your videos so til next time...Be well and stay healthy!
Thank you, Donna! I'm glad you enjoy my dry humor, haha. And the Shelee family is the BEST - pretty much the only reason I regularly log onto Facebook anymore (I'm allergic to politics). You be well and stay healthy, too!
Well I'm subscribed to your Channel but I don't recall your face. You're whole tutorial is excellent. I took the course about two and a half years ago was doing fairly well and quit and got into plaster art for like 6 months and then went back to the Bloom and I cannot get the blow down and cells to save my soul. I don't really have space to do nothing I'm bumping into everything , my room is like a closet LOL but back to the point of not getting it down , it's easier for me to just swipe. I appreciate your feedback so much and I don't know why your videos haven't popped up . I realized this is 3 years old that was another question are you still using the same pouring medium Sherwin-Williams Ultra deep base 3:1 with Jo Sonja or polycrylic? Please and thank you and I'm not a drinker but I would sometimes just love to have me a Mudslide. Or better yet a Bloody Mary. Thank you and God bless and stay safe always. 😋 💕💕👍🙌 🙌🙏🏻🙏🏻
Just found your video. Have been thinking about doing coasters. Your breakdown of the process is much appreciated. I have the paints and stuff, no resin purchased yet bc I'm a little leary of it and have asthma to boot, so a respirator will need to probably be purchased. Lovely you and lovely coasters! I also especially appreciate the colors of the coasters.
These are stunning 😍 and thank you for breaking down making coasters and your honesty. It’s made to look easy and effortless...it isn’t. In saying that, when you hit that sweet spot in regards colours, then it is so worth it and you definitely hit that sweet spot 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 Sometimes as artists I think we forget about ALL the work that goes into making it when we go to sell it, and underselling oneself is such a sad thing. And yes, this color combo really is special. I have done some larger pieces with them too.
Wow...Those coasters are totally gnarly dudette :) What a great video. People do not realize the amount of time and energy it takes to create something like this, and they really do not understand how much money is invested for even the smallest of projects. Keep those videos coming...A Celtic Blessing for my new Witchy Friend...May you have - Walls for the wind - And a roof for the rain - And drinks beside the fire - Laughter to cheer you - And those you love near you - and all that your heart may desire.
Thank you for your video I found this to be the best video explaining all of the steps for success in using resin. I found myself to be hesitant to try this due to uncertainty however thanks to your video and no dout a pinch of good old fashion Wisconsin WTF magic I find I now feel confident and to try. I decided to subscribe and become a follower or disciple of WTF Coven of art . Again thank you so much looking forward to learning more and having fun with little pinch of b*thchcraft, greetings from Vancouver!
Raina you finally got me with the coaster I like and subscribed I also loved your TLP ❤️I totally agree with you..and have been changing 40.00 for my coasters I do a double resin they are so nice and if course paint on the back with cork .
Raina, you're always good for making me smile and then outright laugh my as~ off!!! And my friends who get it free!!! I've given more art away HAHA...now I'm waiting for this pandemic to be over, I'll have hundred's of painting's and I'm going to go sit my as~ at the beach and sell it at art fairs on the weekends for $10.00 each....it was cheaper then therapy and maybe I'll get enough to buy me a plane ticket to an exotic place!!! You're the best sweetie! Keep it going! I Love it! BTW...WAY TO GO on 1000 sub's I've just reached 100 and I was thrilled!!! Come by for a visit if you have time!
Oh, I'm so glad you laugh! Thank you for the kind words. And yes, there's a part of me that wants people to understand how much goes into making something like this. But even more than that, I need to remind MYSELF because I can err into people-pleasing behaviors and I'll end up under-selling myself. My end-goal is sitting my a$$ at the beach, but that sounds like too much work if it's selling coasters! Ha! Congrats on 100!
@@PaintedRaina That was a joke, my daughter said she'll sell my painting's in her spare time (she's an attorney by day) and let me travel when this is over, the therapy part is the part that's true...HAHA...at the price of a therapist today! ❤️🌈❤️Love the pastels with the black cell activator. I like to make art then never finish it off. I’m done with it after the creating process. The math would scare me if I had to sell them. Lol

Hi Sacorsha, I've been selling them for $40 for a set of 4 or $10 for an individual. I don't think it's enough, honestly, but that's what our local craft market supports.

Several hours is a Huge amount of time and effort…. Doesn’t seem accurate.. coming from a professional roofer here. But I can do a roof in 10 hours and make about $20k so I guess she can keep her coasters. But looks cool.
Not really sure how to take that, but roofing and making coasters don't seem comparable to me. My times are accurate, so at least there's that. And you can have the roofs - no heights for me!
I'm so glad to have found YOU!!! ACTUALLY 100%REAL & cracking me up at 4:30 a.m. after another pouring FAIL! THANK YOU
