I couldn't agree more. It has always pushed the boundaries technology wise (A Crack In Time was almost CGI quality) and the story continues to get deeper and engaging. Absolutely love the series and own all the games. Despite the stereotypes, I don't think it's a franchise for kids, with a fair amount of the plot points and humour only making sense when you are older. Brilliant franchise, hyped for the movie and PS4 game, hope they continue from ITN later on though!

I'm voting for Jak and Daxter. I absolutely love these games (except for a certain game that no one should mention ever) and I feel like there's more interesting facts hidden away than in Crash. I specifically want to know the full story behind the drastic change between the first and second games (both are great games, just the whole situation seems strange) since no one seems to have a solid theory as to what happened.

TyroneTiggums64 In the Naughty Dog Anniversary documentary they explain that the team behind Jak wanted to make a more mature game, because they noticed that their target audience was also growing up and so were the tropes at the time, with games getting more serious, so they adjusted the themes to match a more mature audience. I recommend checking out the documentary it throws a lot of info about the Jak series and Uncharted. Hope this info helps!

i don't care what anyone says, i loved this series more than any halo or call of duty ever made. this series was my child hood and probably one of the first games ive ever beaten. These games will always hold a place in my heart which is why it really sucks the movie and game was pushed back D|

I've played the remaster two times, 100%'d it. I had no issues with the controls.

+Koko the Arabian Probably the original version, not the remaster version. I have that game, and I love it, but the controls REALLY suck sometimes. Maybe it's just me, but there've been lots of times when Ratchet kept on running despite me trying to make him slow down. Which usually ends with him falling off a cliff.
One time,he did that twice in the row! Like, he falls and dies, I put my controller down for whatever reason, then Ratchet respawns and immediately proceeds to run to his death again. Without me touching the controller even once. I'm totally serious.
And don't even let me get started about that space level with Clank...God that part pissed me off.

Seems so odd to me. I never had any of the 'changed' title versions and always had the original named on my boxes and games when I got them, from the first all the way up to Deadlocked. Never even knew that was a thing!

The music for R&C was recorded in stereo by artist David Bergeaud (who did the music for Insomniac's first title, Disruptor) but in the game it's flattened to mono, presumably to save space. This was not updated for the HD Collection on PS3, but a stereo version of the Metropolis music can be found on Bergeaud's website. The original game also lacks DualShock support, which was included for the sequel.
Going Commando was also Insomniac's first ever Widescreen title. When the games were ported by Idol Minds onto PS3, the screen was widened and, in the case of Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked, the original letterboxing was removed. This allows the player to see some animation (or lack thereof) that was not intended to be seen.
Girl with a Stick was used as a codename for the Resistance 3 beta as an inside joke. The flipping pages are in fact for IG's second attempt at a PS2 game about slaying monsters and using their bodily resources. The specific individual who conceived the core idea of an alien traveling from planet to planet collection weapons was Ryan Schnieder.
The stripes were indeed suggested by Sony Japan, but they asked for a step further in giving Ratchet big black, bushy eyebrows, which are very similar to the bushy eyebrows of Fake Crash who also had Japanese origins. The Japanese eyebrows remained on Ratchet up until A Crack in Time, after which they haven't been seen again. Some concept art of the original Ratchet design (with cupped, fox-like ears) can be found in R&C1's Concept Art menu.
Some regions didn't even like Locked and Loaded as a subtitle, so some areas just got "Ratchet & Clank 2". Australia is unique as their full title is "Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal". While there is a hidden number in the US logos for R&C2 and 3 (2 in the backplate and 3 with a reversed & gear), the number is not officially considered part of the title in the US versions. Since A Crack in Time, the Platinum Trophy has always been given one of the originally-intended subtitles for the game.
When 2007's Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction was released in PAL regions, the Future was dropped as in some languages it made the pronouncing of the title too complicated. This PAL-exclusive change would remain for the released of Quest for Booty and A Crack in Time.
Japan often had titles with numbers for titles that didn't have them in other territories. Deadlocked was R&C4, SM was R&C5, and A Crack in Time was R&CF2 (which was the game's in-production title). All 4 One also has concept art that has "RCF3" in the corner, meaning the game was at some point seen as a successor to A Crack in Time.
Ratchet's appearance in Jak X is the only source of information regarding stats such as his age, weight and height if you translate the Precursor text, however it isn't known how applicable this information is to the Ratchet games themselves. The large hands in the Jak skin in Deadlocked are so that they are of a comparable size to the hands of all the other character skins in the game.

However when the game sold over a million copies, it went platinum and another version of the game was re-released as the greatest hits. The greatest hits version of a game is released when a game sells enough copies, this version usually fixes bugs and major glitches, and for some reason the greatest hits version of the game was given the subtitle.

- When you break a bin in Endako, some cans get out from the bin. Those can has "Dan" written on them.
- In the Insomniac Museum, you can listen to different Insomniac employees triggering their quotes where their pictures are. However, there's a Dan Johnson picture with no quote available.
Also:
When you make a Play Station game, the game itself has to been aproved by Sony. To make this, the game has to pass some sort of control Sony does. For example, a game won't be released if you can destroy a PS2 in it. At 4:51 you can see an Insomniac pyramid over the table. It was originally a PS2, but you can wrench it, so Sony didn't allow it.
Finally showing the Ratchet games some love! Such a fun series, much better than other 3D platformers staring a certain blue hedgehog.

Empty Lust Ratchet doesn't control like he runs on ice, the in-game camera actually points where you want it to and the cutscenes and dialogue aren't so cringe worthy that i want to skip them like in the Sonic games. There's also no anthropomorphic bats with tits in the Ratchet games.....which is nice.
Gotta be honest, Deadlock/Gladiator was the one I liked the most. Probably because it looked like a third person cartoony Unreal Tournament.

XyerDark But Activision was the last company confirmed to have the rights to Crash Bandicoot. Now it seems like any reference to Crash Bandicoot has been erased from Activision's website. Naughty Dog even outright said shit like, "No, we're too cool to make games like Crash anymore. Now we got shit like Uncharted and The Last Of Us to milk out. We don't need those baby games like Crash Bandicoot or whatever."

I would love to see a Jak & Daxter video because it was the first game I ever played on my PS2!

Chris No personally I prefer the Jak & Daxter series, the Ratchet & Clank games always felt like they had almost no sense of direction. Although, If you were to include the Sly series then I would chose Sly Cooper over R&C and J&D.

There’s some cool and interesting concept art for Girl With A Stick, I would love to see an unseen 64 on it. And I’m curious how many of any ideas were used in Insomniacs later projects. Or maybe if the game had potential but the first draft wasn’t great as they said so someone may be able to make something good out of it
I started playing Ratchet and Clank when i was 4 and its still my favourite game franchise.
I find it hilarious that the stripes idea was hated so much, initially.

Every Ratchet and Clank game was soooooo fun. This and JAK and DAXTER are my favorite games of all time and really solidified the ps2!

Deadlocked also makes a musical reference to Spyro. One of the tracks used on Kronos is a remixed version of the track used in the level Crystal Islands from Spyro: Year of the Dragon.
I have an original PAL copy of R&C2 and it is called Going Commando here. It's only called Locked & Loaded in the UK.

I have an original PAL copy of RAC 2 in Australia, its called Locked and Loaded. Strangely, my copy of RAC 3 PAL in Australia is called up Your Arsenal.
another connection between ratchet and clank and jak and daxter is that the poses on the cover art for R&C and Jak II are the same. Blew my mind when I realized this. The art on the disks themselves are very similar too.
You forgot the best easter egg of the whole game:
At the title screen, Ratchet can be seen playing segments from the game itself. However, let the game idle long enough, and he'll eventually start playing bits of the first R&C, as well as the first two Jak & Daxter games, and even the intro stage to Sly Cooper.
