Grats, man! Loving it more and more everyday! If you have any questions on the mods let me know. New content coming soon with an update. I’ve been struggling with the mic on the GoPro.
I have the same bike with a Toce Razor Tip full exhaust. When the clutch breaks, which it will, replace it with Barnett plates and heavy duty clutch springs. And Motul 7100 oil.
Thanks, Artur! Yea, I was going to actually do this sooner rather than later. It's apparently inevitable with this bike. How many miles before you had to replace?
Didn't think about the WD 40. I managed to get it out a few days ago with just using the grip and slowly tugging each side. I'm going to make a follow-up video on the results, but overall I ended up putting it back on. I don't know about others, but I noticed right away the back pressure loss. Especially around lower gears 2,3. I did enjoy that it was more manageable, but overall I felt the lag. Sound hardly changed, deeper at idle.
@@nammmers Hey Nammers! I didn't. I'm in the process of moving to a new house and everything got delayed. As soon as I settle I'll make one without the baffle. Sorry for the long delay.
2 questions for you:1)Does the aftermarket exhaust add any extra horsepower and if so how much?2)Are those singing birds coming from your video or from outside my window?
Hi Robert! Great questions! 1. According to the Akrapovic site, it appears to add an additional 1 HP over stock at 10,200 RPMs - (bit.ly/3zu7JMI). Do you notice the 1 HP difference? Don't know really. I do notice a difference, but not really at 10,200 RPMs. I think more so back pressure increase at lower gears/RPMs. I did actually remove the baffle last week, and immediately put it back on. The difference was noticeable. The bike lost a lot of back pressure and the engine almost seemed to lag at certain points. 2. During COVID shutdown my neighborhood turned into a massive aviary. American Robins are everywhere. My truck was once their personal toilet 6 times a day... And last year a pair of Carolina Wrens setup shop in a duffle bag in my garage. And that was interesting timing their ins and outs and making sure one didn't get locked out at night. 3 birds hatched and fled the garage into the wild! Fun times.
@@iamoperator Thanks for info and that pretty much confirms that in this day and age aftermarket exhaust doesn't add much to performance the way it did back in the '80's for example-I remember all the bikes in the Kawasaki GPZ lineup would benefit greatly from aftermarket exhaust-Kerker was a huge name back then in aftermarket exhaust-Now it's more about sound and look.So I was hearing American Robins in your video and hearing Canadian Robins outside my window-I think my favourite bird-right around the 2nd to 3rd week of April they return from Mexico-I guess they got sick of the food there!
@@RobertNixAlternativeArtist Yup. Slip-ons don't do anything for performance. My main motivation was weight reduction, why I had also gone originally with the LV-10. Hi Jean! Great question. 2018-2022 are all the same bike, and i believe the only change mentioned anywhere was clutch updates. So you should be good! There's also another video where I go over two new mods, sliders and levers. Both of those should also still be compatible.
Hey! Grats on the new bike! I left a link to all the products in the video description. The windshield works amazing, and just overall recommend something taller than stock regardless of brand. I wasn’t too impressed with phone holder, would prefer the RAM mount which I later purchased. Made an update video that shows what I got with the link in the description as well. The USB outlet was the best rated I could find on Amazon, and it still working great. Let me know if you have any other questions.
If it's not installed already, you will need to push it through the side it connects on with a stick, but in most cases people already have it installed. I had to use needle-nose pliers and a lot of force. You need to jiggle it side to side because it's stuck in there after you remove the side screw. I'll see if I can take some photos and post them here.
Hey AK! I'd be leaning towards the 650, but to be completely sure I would head into a dealership and sit on both, and if possible take them both out for a test drive. Not to say the 400 can't handle your frame, but it may leave you wanting more. The best way to tell is to get a feel for both.

Thanks, man! More content to come with some new additions that i've made over the last week or so. I bought this from a dealership. I can't recall exactly but after tag/title/tax and also shipping/assembly the base of $5,500.00 turned into more like high $6k - $7k. There's also the availability of the bike, and how each dealership chooses to factor in their sales commission. The best tactic once you are set on buying is call up all the dealerships in your area, and even those in other states (some will deliver for low hundred) and straight up ask them their Out The Door (OTD) price. For example right now I'm shopping around for a 2021 MT-09 that most all dealerships in my area do not have yet. I've called 4, and the prices have gone from $10,600, to $12,000. The base price of the bike is $9,399. So at minimum factor in at least a few hundred to cover the tag/tax/title over the MSRP.
@@iamoperator nice man. Yeah would love if you could do a bike review sometime! Definitely looking forward to what you put out next! Keep up the good work!
I'm 5'10" (1.77m), and weigh in around 146lbs (66 kilos). Significant weight reduction removing the stock exhaust I think made the most difference. Overall 110Mph is what some have achieved, I have fallen a bit short of that when I've tried, but with a lot of room to comfortably hit it. In terms of power, due to my weight and size it packs enough punch for me, with the 0-60 at 4.14 being pretty accurate if not better.
Kawasaki hasn't brought it over yet. Would be great if they do, but there's also very little market for small displacement bikes. Since one license gets you any displacement, people tend to start with 600+.
Hey Aaron! This is a fantastic beginner bike that doesn't leave you hanging with power, is light and easy to handle, and is extremely forgiving for those learning to ride for the first time. It's also very easy to customize, with a huge selection of aftermarket parts if you want to change the look and feel. I just did my first service and will be posting a 600+ mile update soon with all my thoughts. I'd say if you're heavily thinking about getting one, definitely go check one out in person if you have access to a dealer.
I've been waiting for LV-10 to come back in stock. Been impossible to find. But your opinion was welcomed since nobody ever gives that honest opinion. Thank you! I'll look into this one now.
Appreciate it! The LV-10 is a great exhaust, definitely worth the money, but it gives you a more GP sound in my opinion. I should have gone with the Akra to begin with. The sound is more of a purr rather than a roar from the LV-10. There's also the added benefit of the baffle being removable. All in all a bit more expensive, but I think well worth it. Size a bit bigger, but weight is almost the same. Hardly noticeable and nowhere near stock. Let me know if you have any other questions! Also, if you're in the US, LV-10 is available through www.sportbiketrackgear.com/ - Safe riding!
Hey Hayden! Great question. They are all removable decals, except the tank. That's clear coat. Pain they did it that way, and what I've thought about doing is covering it up with a tank pad if I ever get tired of it. The color is actually more Hi-Viz yellow, or fluorescent yellow. It's weird though, because some cameras capture it more green, and in different lighting it has a different shade.
@@iamoperator dang, I love the look of that bike but I’m just not a fan of the hi-viz yellow. I think Kawasaki missed on the colors this year, not a huge fan of the red or the teal either, I think even with the yellow this bike looks best.
@@hd33042 The two different tones of gray work very good together without color. I think Kawasaki should always have a neutral color option for those that don't want color, or at least not do clear coat decals on the tank. Of all 3 this year, this scheme is definitely my favorite. Agree 100%.
Hey AML! Bikes typically come with a condensation drain that allows water build up to get out from natural condensation or rain in some cases. It would have to be a massive downpour to make a difference, and in that case I would highly consider a bike cover if it rains a lot where you live.

I've been meaning to make another vid but i've moved to a new home, and work has been crazy.
In the US there are certain factors that play into your insurance cost. Age, cc, type of vehicle (sport, touring, etc.), bundling, deductible, bonuses per each company... For my age (high 30's), time driving motorcycles under this insurance company (10+ years), the cc of the bike, my state, I did do the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course, all of this played into my cost. At the end i'm in the high $400's a year. I've also got very extensive coverage, I have $3,000 accessory insurance in case anything happens to the exhaust, or any mods for example... A lot of things play into the price, but overall i'd say in the US you'd start in the $300+ for the basics and can get higher depending on factors mentioned or more...
Great bike. Thinking of getting my license and would love this for my first bike (used). I'm a 5 '5 guy though? Your thoughts? Or anyone's opinion that knows bikes would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Ryan! I would say the best thing you can do is head over to a dealership and just sit on it. I can flat foot easily at 5'10". I also believe you should be able to lower it as well.
I'd recommend it. As a new biker and owner myself it's super light, though definitely as fast as you'd need for street and highway riding (Assuming you're not immediately planning on taking it racing). Plus you'll appreciate it's light weight when you need to walk it around or back it out unpowered and you don't have to fight the bike. (Tried out 4 other bikes, and I managed to drop a 600 Yamaha 3 times when I rented it since it will just lean past anything you want it to do).
Depends what state/country you live in. If it comes to sound, it’s legal in my state. I’ve driven by and along side cops with no issues. There are definitely louder bikes than mine on the road. If it’s emissions, slip-on doesn’t make a major difference since the cat converter is still there. I’d still check your local laws.

In terms of power, due to my weight and size it packs enough punch for me, with the 0-60 at 4.14 being pretty accurate if not better.
Good move with USB charger!
Huge must for long rides!
nice i can use your mods for my zx25r :D
edit: is zx25r illegal in USA?
Kawasaki hasn't brought it over yet. Would be great if they do, but there's also very little market for small displacement bikes. Since one license gets you any displacement, people tend to start with 600+.
Exactly like mine in color got mine Feb 21
Felicidades, Antonio! Disfrutala! Apenas se vaya el frio, de nuevo a la calle!
Would you suggest this bike for a beginner with no motorcycle experience
Just put deposit down on same bike today! Picking up hopefully next week!
Grats, Dubs! Have any questions let me know! Ride safe!
I hope you went with the Rockform mount. Lol
Does the green come off or is it paint
Agree 100%.
I saw this same scheme at the dealer, I want it so bad.
Buy it
When the pipe is leaning up like that, do water get in there?
Hey AML! Bikes typically come with a condensation drain that allows water build up to get out from natural condensation or rain in some cases. It would have to be a massive downpour to make a difference, and in that case I would highly consider a bike cover if it rains a lot where you live.
@@iamoperator Cool thanx for info man.
Great mods you've done to your bike. Thanks for the inspiration. Have just purchased a new 400 in New Zealand. Is your Zero Grav Windscreen the SR or Corsa Series or?
Thanks, Chiro! I’m using the Corsa model. Side note: Hope to one day visit your great country!!
@@iamoperator Thanks for that! I'm going to get one. So appreciate you getting back to me and sharing your mods with all of us!. NZ has some absolutely endless winding roads and beautiful scenery. Hope to see you all down here some day!
@@chiromark Thank you! Yea, If I ever visit I know i'll probably end up staying :) Unfortunately NZ isn't looking for my specific trade, but my company does let me work anywhere in the world, and we do have offices in AUS. Maybe I'll need to convince them to let me move :)
Looking to buy my own soon, how’s it been treating you? Fellow Kiwi here too
REALLY good video. I am buying of these in teal and this gave me an idea of what all; I can do
Thanks, D C! Was hoping to achieve just that. Too many times I find myself looking for things, and never find them all in one place. Mission accomplished with your comment! Enjoy the new ride when you get it and stay safe out there!
I'm getting mine soon!
Congrats!!! Enjoy it in good health and drive safe!!!
Unfortunately the motorbike doesn't have an immobilizer yet
Is this a stock color?
One of 3 stock colors for North America 2021. The other two are Red, and Teal.
Just bought mine getting it next Saturday 😎
Grats, AJ! You're gonna love it! Safe riding!
How much did actually bought the bike?
Depends on dealer and time of year, i came out with $7,100 out the door, i uploaded mine if ya wanna check it out
Any new mods ?
Hey Dope! There's another vid where I test out the exhaust and go over the new additions, but since that vid I've only done one other thing to it and that's change out the mirrors for the Ninja 300 mirrors which are not as long. I've been meaning to make another vid but i've moved to a new home, and work has been crazy.
How much is the insurance?
My is coming soon by next week how I feel so excited it ;)
Grats, Wen!! Ride safe!
@@iamoperator Thank you and my friend are going take a motorcycle License to buy one too;)
what is the name of this color?
Hi Arthur, 2 Colors: Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Magnetic Dark Gray
@@iamoperator ok, that is definitely the best way to fine out. Thanks!!
Operator I plan on saving and getting a bike I’m around 6 feet so I should be good right?
@@jiimmiij4428 You are golden! If you opt for the Ninja 400, your back will also thank you!
Love it bro.
Thanks, brotha!
I just bought that color scheme. The akro slip on is sold out everywhere 😡😭
Grats!! That's insane! For many months it was readily available! Good hunting, and ride safe!
Amazing mods🔥🔥💯
This is my dream bike, so i hope I'll get it oneday🙏🏽♥️
Thank you! It's an amazing bike to aim for!
You'll get one! Keep working keep focused.
Why are you outta Breath?
why does this guy sound like her just committed murder lmao
Just installed m4 full exhaust system and Next I am putting in power commander v with dynojet auto tune
Would love to hear what it sounds like and your thoughts on power difference. Noticeable?
Throttle response is so much better and m4 exhaust sounds so tough! I couldn’t be happier
Give me details I have the exact one and dropped mine little scrapes but I want to fix it
Hey Antonio! So sorry to hear that. Is it just fairing damage?
Is that exhaust street legal
Depends what state/country you live in. If it comes to sound, it’s legal in my state. I’ve driven by and along side cops with no issues. There are definitely louder bikes than mine on the road. If it’s emissions, slip-on doesn’t make a major difference since the cat converter is still there. I’d still check your local laws.
Let us hear that exhaust
Hey Dalton! I let it rip in this one: ruclips.net/video/KpcY5beFbh8/видео.html
Got same bike same color. Shorty gp on mine , fender eliminator kit, 44 tooth rear sprocket
Nice! I have to put a rear sprocket on my list. Possibly when I get around to changing the tires. Ride safe!
44 tooth made more torque or for higher rpm and gear?
@@IvanGarcia-ug7mf yes I'm gonna go down a tooth in the front as well. Shorty gp pipe let it breathe a little better. Had to put a baffle in might put a second. Trying to learn how to flash a ecu. I want to make it do a 10 in the quarter mile
@@JB-zx2py you have instagram?, I wont follow copy paste your blueprints but I enjoy people that work on their 400s, I am saving for a quickshifter, just got stock # tooth front and rear driven sprockets and gold chain.
@@IvanGarcia-ug7mf I dont have Instagram but I've got a RUclips channel ill make a video for the 400
AYYY OPERATOR

Bro how the eff do you only have 50 subs with a name like "operator" lol you gonna be famous one day just off the name..
Thanks, J! Your comment made my day, brotha! Started not too long ago, and hoping people get something positive out of my content.
Just picked one up
Have fun and ride safe!
How did you get that spec
Hey Stan! Are you referring to the color combination?
@@iamoperator yess, are those stickers and A wrap?
@@ebbersstan No, that's all stock. This was one of the 3 color schemes for NA 2021. The others were Teal, and Red.
@@iamoperator wow really that's a sick stock color way
I just got the same color 2 days ago
Grats, man! It's a great bike and it only gets better! Enjoy and ride safe!
@@iamoperator thank you 💪
Remove those rear pegs! Clean
Only thing stopping me from doing this is I can't find a suitable bracket that doesn't look too flashy. This is the only I've been able to find, and I would buy it if it didn't say Ninja on it. www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rg-racing-exhaust-hanger-kawasaki-ninja-400-2018 - If you know of a suitable clean, black bracket/hanger definitely let me know.
Bought the same model on Sunday
Grats, man! Be safe out there!

I love you too, brotha!
Please put out riding videos!!!
I most definitely will, sir! I'm scoping out camera and setup. Will also do review on findings! Stay tuned!

More high proformance parts!
Inbound! Just got done installing the Vortex v3 2.0 shorty levers over the weekend, and wow what a massive difference to shifting! Next up is the quickshifter! Aiming for the Annitori Quickshifter Pro. Going to leave rearsets last for now.
@@iamoperator the annitori quick shifter can work with oem rear sets? and do I need a flash as well?
@@IvanGarcia-ug7mf Hey Ivan! Yes, Annitori works with OEM, and no additional rod needed. As far as I know, no flashing required. Pure plug and play. Also look at HM quickshifter. Also plug and play, but only difference is how you program it. I'm leaning towards the Annitori cause it also has a mobile app component where you can adjust settings on your phone. HM you need to access the tiny display which will typically be out of sight.
You need some allergy medicine ? Or to much snortty snort ? 😆
Heiha.. What are we listen to..
I thought I listen to professional bike review
No such thing as a loud exhaust, that statement is blasphemy!!!
I like the fact that there isnt even a 2021 ninja 400
