  • Just a little demo of the Reciprocating handpiece for Foredom tool. I'm sorry about the abrupt ending. I'll do a "part 2" when I get the larger tips.

It would be a lot better if the background music was turned off. it makes listening very annoying and unclear.

Great video - if I already have a foredom motor and hand piece, do I just need to pick up another 'reciprocating' hand piece (plus chisel tips...)? Which model is this?

I know this video is old but Foredom recommends the LX motor for the hammer hand piece as the LX has a max rpm of 5000 which is what the chisels max rating is, they have been getting reports that when the chisels were used with the SR motor at 18000 people were burning up the hand pieces too fast.

I have seen the rating for that hand tool at 1000 to 8000 but Foredom advertise this.
      Recommended Speed:
      Optimum Speed Range- 3,000-10,000 rpm.
      Max. Operating Speed- 18,000 rpm.
Handpiece specifications: 6" long, 1" in diameter, weight: 4.6 oz., ship wt: 6.65 oz.

If you keep the SR at a low speed it can work. A dial control can help with that, too. If you 'floor it' it will damage any reciprocating handpiece.

thank you for showing it in action. the foredom videos are something to be desired. I notice you're carving some sweet sweet soft wood. it almost looks effortless. what/how do you suppose it would work on solid hickory? (I'm carving a massive shepherds crook and need to get in some areas that are ridiculous with my traditional tools, and it would take me an eternity using them as well)
thanks for your response in advance if you find the time.

Should be fine. The tip just needs to be sharp.

Work with the tool. Let it do the work, should be good.

At about 1:23 you held up a foredom hand piece with what kind and size sander was on there? Great review.

This looks like it could be a really useful video, but I had to turn it off because of the music, so irritating, destroys the video and experience

The music takes your potentially constructive video to the gutter. Why try and oversell or enhance yourself..??.
