No sin removed for the scene where Rorschach litterally stared Dr. Manhatten in the face and told him to kill him if he wants to go through with his plan?
DakStoSha Indeed. The movie also pulled it off, although I can see why it would be more powerful for people who read the Graphic Novel. Maybe I am biased because of that lol
+Yourson Isold Why should a sin be removed for a scene that was about a hundred times better in the original source material? Tacking Nite Owl onto the scene so he could scream "NOOOOOOO" should have earned at least five sins.

Cinema Sin's sins: That WAS Leonard Cohen singing. There actually IS a formation on Mars in the shape of a smiley face like that, that's why Moore used it. :P
He's changed his ways. instead of focusing on actual sins, he takes it less seriously and just does comedic sins. if you want to see videos that can be taken mostly seriously, you should watch some of his older ones, back when he did it for the actual movie sins.
+Oly1y This is just beyond dumb though at this point. It's not funny, it's not even clever. You should remove sin #11. Yes, Gotham exists in this universe, but Batman is only a comic book character. The scene shows Nite Owl saving Bruce Wayne's parents. No dead parents=no batman
I don't understand. Why did you sin manhattan watching comedian kill that pregnant woman? They literally tell that dr. manhattan watched it because he doesn't care one scene later.
Because they want to have it both ways. They have Manhattan later say "Ok, human life matters after all. I'm back," but they also have him be an emotionless douchebag. It's bad writing. Do one or the other, you can't do both. And his shocked look means he obviously does care. If he didn't care then he wouldn't have said anything or reacted at all.
@One Thou Wou, not caring doesn't explain why he didn't do anything to stop comedian from shooting that woman. I don't care about strangers, but if I see a person in an obviously fucked up situation and I had the power to intervene, I would.
@@justjeffrson489 because that scene showed that he was growing further fromhumanity. Until the end when he was shown how life can be worth it. Thus letting him take the blame for all the deaths
Just Jeffrson that was the point. To him it’d be like a cat killing a mouse. He doesn’t care. That’s literally the point of the scene. He later even says that if the entire earth goes up in flame the universe doesn’t care. He doesn’t care. Up until laurie made him realize the significance of human life.
As much as I love this video and CinemaSins in general, I'm not sure I can condone any situation in which "All Along the Watchtower", or any Hendrix song for that matter, gets sinned, regardless of the circumstances.
It was the usage of the song in a particular situation that was sinful, not the song itself. Based on the history of how the song has been used in film, it was an unoriginal, uninspired choice and it cheapened the moment.
"The same Vietnam war, when does the timeline split?" Id say when a blue nuke god killed his way through Vietnam would not be the same as our Vietnam war,but maybe I just dont remember history
I don't think Dr Manhattan would have made that much of a difference. Not much different about a jolly blue giant exploding people and a bunch of jolly green giants exploding people.
dpsamu2000 “not much of a difference”? So an indestructible “god” with the ability to manipulate matter to whatever he wishes, and you say the a Vietnam War wouldn’t have changed? That’s just my thought though.

He wasn't omnicient. So he couldn't see all the VC to kill them all. Could only kill the ones he saw. But the war of attrition that we fought, and that Manhattan fought didn't win it for us, and I would say that wouldn't have won it for him. That's not the strategy that won it for the VC. It was territorial ocupation that won it for them. Very simple strategy. The US kills some VC, and the VC kill some nearby villiagers. So the villiagers hate, or pretend they hate, the US because the US brings the VC retaliation. Even when many like the US they can't say so. They would be the first ones pointed out by the rest of the villiagers to save their lives. "He likes the US. He said so." So everybody has to say how they hate the US. How would the US know any different? Empathetically the US could know people don't like people who come in and kill, and mutilate them, and their kids. But it was clearly hard for the US to dredge up empathy in those times.
99 Luftballons is a song about the Cold War and the fear of an eventual nuclear apocalypse, the Watchmen universe still has the Cold War and the fear of an eventual nuclear apocalypse, going so far as having the whole story being set around this scenario, so 99 Luftballons still existing in that universe is not weird at all

@@hertog3094I don’t know if that’s a failing on Moore’s part, though. I definitely agree that this one of the most faithful adaptations I’ve seen, but if they had included everything from the graphic novel, this could’ve easily been 8 hours of film. You lose a lot of nuance when translating to the screen, but I still think it’s fantastic. The ultimate director’s cut is nearly 4 hours long, and it still isn’t quite enough to cover all of the ground.
+Rebooted superheroes save lives....these people were like characters from clue who actually have no clue. I'm sure the comic is good, but this film was terrible.
miguel acosta I disagree. This movie showed "superheroes" who were actually grounded in reality. They had flaws. They weren't perfect. They chose the wrong things. Flawed characters are way more interesting than perfect superheroes. Don't get me wrong, I love the Marvel cinematic universe, but for instance Captain America? He has no real flaws. He's boring as a superhero, because we know he'll choose to do the right thing anyways.
Rebooted i also disagree, CA's flaw is that he is a goody boy scout, and he always wants a battle to happen. Anyways, yeah, the concept of this film is pretty cool, but i don't think it was done well. I did like the plot twist, but the whole process to get there was super boring.

The joke is that because this movie did so, he is saying that this movie is a "chick-flic," when in fact it is not. Relax with your allegations. If you dont like Watchmen thats fine, but you cannot say that this movie and the people involved in it didnt have the balls to pull this off, this movie is a rare and unique achievement and better than any of the current Marvel or DC stuff.

If you look at the videos he's done that were really good films that he enjoyed, you'd find that he didn't find as many things to nitpick at than other films. This movie has obvious problems that didn't need nitpicking, and not a lot of people even liked this film.
I thought that Watchmen was such an underrated film. From a visual standpoint, it was stunning. The opening credits scene was so artfully done, that if the Oscars had a category called "Best Opening Credits", it would have won it.
+Drake Santiago Yeah but you're also describing most Snyder films when you say that stuff. The rest of it was pretty lackluster; the pacing could have been better and even though it was really nice as a period piece it locks any non-readers out of what the fuck is going on.
Watchmen was a nigh-perfect adaption that came out at an imperfect time. It was a critique and deconstruction of a film genre that hadn't fully matured yet. Had Watchmen come out this year, I guarantee it would have been a critical and commercial success.
Nhat Lam NGUYEN I felt like it was bad timing. It came out around Mid/late Marchish and only worked with one holliday to make bank. I saw this movie a second time in theatres on Easter and hardly anyone went to see it.

Sin 11 is NOT a sin (1:02). The opening credits is showing us the alternate history in the Watchmen Universe. That's a Batman Easter egg. That is Martha and Thomas Wayne (to the left) leaving the theatre and that's Nite Owl who stops the mugger, Joe Chill, from robbing and killing them thus preventing the creation of Batman in the first place. By far my favorite easter egg of all time.
A very solid movie that gets a lot of undeserved hate. Very faithful to the excellent source material as well. That faithfulness is probably what accounts for a lot of the movie's pacing problems.
Christopher Villeda I wouldn't call it amazing but I agree with you on the lazy comic book movies with cringe-worthy jokes. I just about gave myself a concussion facepalming in response to lame one liners in Age of Ultron.
I guess I found this movie amazing cus it's one of the few superhero movies I can watch without giving myself a concussion cus of the non stop facepalming haha
+Christopher Villeda The Watchmen comics have quite some fans though. I'd say the movie's hate is because people who only like Marvel-like movies don't end up liking the style of Watchmen and Watchmen graphic novel fans are too damn nitpicking.
The "smiley face crater" does actually exist. It is known as Galle, and apparently was known by Gibbons and Moore when they wrote Watchmen A little research goes a long, long way.
There are people who like this movie, and others that don't. I understand both. But you can't deny the effort and attention to every, possible detail Zach Snyder and his team poured into this film.
You know, that smiley face crater on Mars actually exists. It's called "Galle". Maybe you knew this already and were sinning their use of said crater, but it's impossible to tell from the wording of the sin.
Look, I get that most of the "sins" are jokes and not real critizisms of the movie, but I still think you have a lot of bullshit in this video. Like, you added a sin for Doctor Manhattan not stopping the bullet that killed the pregnant woman, like it was an error in the story. It's actually an important scene, highlighting how Doctor Manhattan is loosing his humanity - as the Comedian pointed out right after that.
MrSchwabbl Also the 'sins' about Manhattan being naked in some scenes but not in others. It's explicitly pointed out that he wears less and less as the years go on until he's completely naked: another sign of his growing detachment from society and humanity.
The closest he was ever going to get to losing his humanity is ending up being a penis with legs, arms and a face which actually makes him even more human.
You mean the scene where the misfit can't keep his mouth shut long enough to get back home and THEN attempt to spill his guts about what happened? Ideology over intelligence?
He knew that if he exposed what Ozzy did to the world, there was the very real possibility of a full-on nuclear war. Never compromising is his mindset, so he would have exposed the lie. While, at the same time, its his duty to protect people and exposing the secret would do the opposite. Conflicted, he practically begged Manhattan to kill him, to protect the lie he would expose.
+Robert Fleming I had to listen to his comment like three times just to figure out what the hell he was trying to say, then I realized he probably doesn't know what Leonard Cohen sounds like, so he assumed he was hearing a cover because he didn't like it.
Uncle Donnie But...my question wasn't a yes or no question. It was questioning that he sinned what most people consider the best part of the video. That said, "This is his job and you aren't allowed to voice criticism" isn't a valid defense. If you put something out for the masses to view the masses can bring criticism of your work, it comes with the territory.

Which means you missed a sin for Ozzymandias' superstrength in the opening scene. Although the comics hint that he has genetically engineered himself.
Does the film make that clear though? +Victim of Lag It didn't confuse me either, but I still found it. . . Odd. Sure, it wasn't a _bad_ film, certainly wasn't the best, but it tried hard to tell it's story. It's a cult film that fills a demand, not a grand cinematic accomplishment. Even I'd admit that V for Vendetta was a cult film and not something to hold up as infalliable, and I personally loved that film. Niche audiences means that there will always be someone to enjoy it as time goes on. That's the nature of such films, to appeal to specific audiences by doing something(s) differently than traditional media.
+B Arnold this right here, watchmen is no doubt not the best movie and neither is Evil Dead, but I still love both of those movies more than any movie out there
+B Arnold The entire point of those flashbacks being so disjointed is that Dr. Manhattan doesn't perceive time as we do. The movie is far from perfect, but a lot of these sins were things that seem like they have obvious explanations...
+B Arnold The time jumping, especially during Dr. Manhattan's segment, is supposed to be a little bit of how he sees time. Everything happening all at once and not in any real order while still being in order. Confusing? Yes. That's part of the point.
SwaggotTop Sorry, I meant odd as in how I felt the whole film felt "odd". It wasn't a direct remark about the flashbacks, though I should've clarified that to begin with. It should be noted that I also emphasized that I didn't think it was a bad film either. Just odd/strange/weird. As far as niche films / cult films go, that's par for the course with a lot of people.
Many years later, I feel/believe this will be one of those movies that isn’t received fully but ages well with time. With all the super movies (marvel) out after this, it has adopted better. Also, that opening montage!?!? “The times, they are (uh) changing..” Made me download Bob Dylan
@ 7:20, that's not meant to be a power symbol. It's a hydrogen atom; as in the hydrogen atoms used to create the hydrogen bomb for the Manhattan Project. So it makes sense that it would be Dr. Manhattan's symbol.
The reason the computer was so easy to hack was Ozzy wanted it to be. He put the password out in the open because these are his friends and he wanted them safe and out of the way of damage hoping they would join him. Several of these are easy to figure out.
Ozymandias felt that the Comedian would want to die fighting, so he gave him a fight before finishing him off, is why he didn't just huck him out the window to begin with.
+Remy "Gambit" LeBeau From what I've looked up on the graphic novel, the movie follows it almost perfectly. IIRC, the only big difference being the big reveal of Ozzy's plan, but IMO, I actually think the movie version is better and makes more sense. (Others being some things that weren't shown in the movie that happened in the graphic novel, but they don't affect the main story.)
+Remy "Gambit" LeBeau The Ultimate Director's Cut is 3 1/2 hours long with Tales of the Black Freighter intercut with the actual movie and it's the closest you can get to getting the general idea of the graphic novel without actually reading it.
+syfycomicbookvhsman lol this movie being one of the most faithful adaptations to a graphic novel that is referred to as "critically one of the best novels in the english language" adds loads more salt and a touch of lime.
+Schwartzbruder1 Though what's critically the best stuff isn't always actually the best stuff for wide appeal. That's why Birdman (despite winning a ton of 2014's Oscars) didn't make a lot of money, and that's why Watchmen can be "critically one of the best novels in the english language" and have a large number of detractors. P.S. Ever tried to read Ulysses by James Joyce? It routinely comes out on top of best novel ever lists, but it's insanely hard to read and follow. The author just makes up words at times, uses Latin and Middle English, and will run on sentences for pages at a time.
Hemlockable a sex scene in a magic fucking submarine, more like. I'm surprised they didn't sin that. Stupid lump has is a perfect aircraft with tiny engines, no visible fuel source, no heat creation, and no freaking explanation (though maybe they throw in a Dr Manhattan hand-wave in the graphic novel). With those engines, we could have had cheap to free space travel, and since I assume we still hit the Moon in 1969, even in the 1980s we'd be gaga for space. If Veigt could set up an orbiting space hotel and space tourism, he wouldn't even need to worry about the Cold War.
Not saying this film is untouchable, but there's Sooo many of these "sins" that are just the writer not understanding either the film, the character, or general cinematography. XD
+Lucan Monks Indeed, And Sinning Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on the grounds that it was the worst version he'd heard was just embarrassing - given the fact that it was clearly Leonard Cohen himself, singing the original version! Many of the supposed "Sins" made me suspect that the reviewer wasn't very well acquainted with the film at all, as you say it appeared that he just didn't understand the stuff he was "sinning". As far as I am concerned there is an old Shakespearean quote that seems really apt here; the film is "more sinned against than sinning".

Another example of this in this video is when he added a sin for the "You're locked in here with me!" line. It's one of the most badass lines in cinema history, we know it, they know it and we know they know it, but they add a sin for it anyway to make nerds mad.

+Animeality Plot holes are pretty rare. I don't think I've seen a Cinema Sins yet that points one out.
+Animeality that's because most people don't care enough to think the sins through if they don't like the movie. thus the occasional poorly structured sins in each video go unnoticed. this is basic psychology, just like your statement is an attempt to make yourself feel intellectually superior by being condescending towards people you and many others view as inferior. like what i'm doing right now, with a few differences of exaction.

@One Thou Wou my problem is why would he complain to the comedian at all if he didn't care,he seemed mildly upset.

Of course it was amazing......this may be the zack snyder peak of awesome
It definitely takes a required taste and a read or two of the comic to like it.
Alan Moore definitely did some dmt during his comics
Hack Snyder missed the point of the graphic novel.
14:40 why’d you sin the smiley face and one million other things but the smiley face is real and it’s on mars!!
You guys are reaching hard for some of these sins. This movie didn't have that many sins.
A very solid movie that gets a lot of undeserved hate. Very faithful to the excellent source material as well. That faithfulness is probably what accounts for a lot of the movie's pacing problems.
this movie was amazing but people prefer comic book movies with crappy stories and filled with jokes that just make you cringe
@@christophervilleda5388 Marvel. Yeah, Marvel fans don't know what's good or not. As long as there's 'splosions.
The "smiley face crater" does actually exist. It is known as Galle, and apparently was known by Gibbons and Moore when they wrote Watchmen A little research goes a long, long way.
Cinema sins takes things out of context
(Ding)
Well it IS a satire channel
So why does he maintain a human form at all? Surely his magic blue energy could create whatever form he needed at the time.
smoog when Manhattan doesn't understand his Manhattanness... sin!
The closest he was ever going to get to losing his humanity is ending up being a penis with legs, arms and a face which actually makes him even more human.
John Doe because he used to be human
One of the most iconic comic to movie adaptations ever. Almost every scene in this movie is ripped straight from the comic.
I wished he would've taken a sin back for Rorschach's death scene, because hot damn, that may be one of the greatest death scenes in cinematic history
You mean the scene where the misfit can't keep his mouth shut long enough to get back home and THEN attempt to spill his guts about what happened? Ideology over intelligence?
@John Doe,
Jon knew Wally well enough to know what he was going to do anyway. Wally just declined to demean himself with a foredoomed lie.
even in the face of armageddon, never compromise
I mean, he just exploded. Lots of people explode in movies.
That wasn't a cover of "Hallelujah", it was Leonard Cohen. One of the rare examples of covers being better then the original.
+Robert Fleming I had to listen to his comment like three times just to figure out what the hell he was trying to say, then I realized he probably doesn't know what Leonard Cohen sounds like, so he assumed he was hearing a cover because he didn't like it.
Who else misses the 5-6 minute videos where he actually pointed out sins?
Now he just makes jokes and insults the films based on his personal opinion.
+jaaronus belzeskon Very true, I just hate the fact that his 'jokes' are now counted as sins...wtf?!
+jaaronus belzeskon Yeah, the only sins in the video are his own jokes.
I hated the 5 minute videos, way too rushed.
0:07 “frewer” *sin sound effect plays*
Likely deliberate - there's an actor named Matt Frewer in the film.
To be fair, if I was a super powered blue man, I'd never wear pants either.
Wait...did he give a sin for the BEST opening credits montage ever? I'm totally ok with him taking the piss out of my favorite movies but...seriously?
Yes, this is his job.
How would you like it if I came to your job and told you what to do?
....that...doesn't even make sense in regards to what I originally said,
I said yes, in regards to your questioning "seriously??!!11??"
2:52 FDR was elected for 4 terms and probably would've been elected for a 5th had he not died.
Not far fetched at all.
Wrong. He was elected for three, died during his third.
@@karoljones7455 actually FDT dod dir three months into jos fourth term. It the reason Harry Truman replaced FDR"s 2nd VP. That dude was a Socialist and the establishment Democrats were scared of losing in 1944. Just like if Sanders ran against Trump.

Plus Nixon would likely rig more elections
I think you should understand what you're taking the piss out of before you start taking the piss. None of them (Dr Manhattan aside) have superpowers.
Which means you missed a sin for Ozzymandias' superstrength in the opening scene. Although the comics hint that he has genetically engineered himself.
Does the film make that clear though? I mean the blue guy is basically god and the mask guy has a moving mask, someone just watching would assume these guys are super heroes, i cant remember if the film ever actually states what powers/lack of powers the characters have. Also most people havent read the comic so it makes no difference what it suggests
The ink blots in his mask are designed to move with his face
I don't recall anything in the movies about Ozymandias / Veight being genetically engineered, just that he was the peak of human perfection.
16:21 I don't care what Cinema Sins says, that's one of the best "Noooooo!!" in ANY movie. Plus the scene as a whole is amazing. They should have removed a sin in my opinion. lol
it absolutely is one of the best, but it's that they sin everytime that they shouldn't ignore that one. it's a sin not for the movie more for the cleche
Calm down people, it's just comedy. :x
Exactly
+Chromasus (Chromasus) Well, he WANTS it to be comedy, he just fails.
+Winkberry The butthurt is real...
+Winkberry Yeah thats why the channel has 5 million subs. Because this is just awful. You are an idiot
+Michael A. Robson sigh.. this is the best super hero movie out there and you just judge by this video. I like his other videos but this is just retarded almost all the sins are wrong
Watchmen was still a really great movie. The time jumping didn't confuse me at all.
+B Arnold
The time jumping, especially during Dr. Manhattan's segment, is supposed to be a little bit of how he sees time. Everything happening all at once and not in any real order while still being in order. Confusing? Yes. That's part of the point.
SwaggotTop
Sorry, I meant odd as in how I felt the whole film felt "odd".
Sparton 25081 It also shows his simplicity
The cinema sins guy knows, Sparton; he was making a joke.
@@maskedmarvyl4774 seems like he needs to up his humour then
Hydrogen bomb and Manhattan project? Do some research
he was joking dud
You do realize there really is a giant smiley face on Mars in real life right? Its called the Galle Crater. CinemaSins add one sin to yourself.
The concept still outweighs all the sins. Epic movie, but now I'll laugh a bit more through it's darkness. Thanks, CinemaSins!
Funny thing that almost every "sin" counted is precisely what makes Watchmen so unique (including mocking traditional superheroes). But hey
I just burst out laughing at "The United States does not start fights" lmao.
This movie is awesome. One of the best superhero movies. Dark, political, with action. Great script and cinematic work
Love this movie. The Director's Cut is amazing!
+Remy "Gambit" LeBeau
From what I've looked up on the graphic novel, the movie follows it almost perfectly.
I've never seen the directors cut which explains the scene where original Nightowl gets in a fight with thugs.
Supermovies eh maybe
Director's cut was shit and those comic book scenes weren't related to the story at all and made no sense, it was dumb :(
That smiley face in Mars does exist in reality. you should subtract those 10 sins
Wait it does? O.o
Yes, it does.
That is not a cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. That's Leonard Cohen, singing his own song.
You should feel bad for not knowing that.
+Louis B Was just about to write to say the same thing! It's not a cover version, it's the original.
Nope, first opening minute and I was already disappointed, it’s like he just forced those sins
Uli Quiroz sigh fan boys 🙄

The level of butthurt in these comments gives me life.
Same
why are people butthurt?
XD
+Lucan Monks
Indeed, And Sinning Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on the grounds that it was the worst version he'd heard was just embarrassing - given the fact that it was clearly Leonard Cohen himself, singing the original version!
+Lucan Monks Agreed
+NoneOfYour Beeswax
May I point out that he called Jimmy Hendrix' All along the watchtower "weird Vietnam movie anthem"?
... I unsubed after this sentence.
+L0LWTF1337 and there is an actual smiley face crater on Mars. and 99 luftballoons is amazing
It would be fine if he explained why 99 Luftballons couldn't exist, but there's nothing to say it shouldn't other than some strange belief that if ONE thing changes then everything changes. But there is still a war in this universe, so there's still the chance that a german group will be inspired to write an anti-war song called 99 Luftballons. Why not? :P
That wasn't a cover. That was Leonard Cohen singing.
This movie beats EACH and EVERY movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. It was a fabulous adaptation!
Considering the author hates it and calls it one of the reasons why he hates mainstream cinema, I'm inclined to disagree.
+sans “Lord of Puns” the skeleton but Alan Moore is like the opposite Stan Lee: the man also hates the adaptation of V for Vendetta, and that movie is pretty damn good as well.
+Diego Pachón Watchmen is pretty much the best CBM released thus far.
***** Eh.... it's okay. It's no where near as good as people hype it up to be though, it has some major issues. Kind of a running theme with Wachowski movies, isn't it.
