Back in the day only the second set of this show circulated in a fairly good AUD master. Now we have the whole show in this SBD and also high quality AUD masters by Rango Keshavan, Bob Wagner, Ken Kelly and several more -- a good example of how far the Dead taping community has evolved -- beyond anything anybody dreamed of when tapers started comparing notes, hunting out and circulating new masters, patching gaps. As a cooperative project to preserve and make accessible a cultural resource, there's just no comparison. There have been jazz and opera (yes, opera!) tapers for decades, but nothing like this. Grateful Dead forever! We're working on it.
These were the first shows i saw & recorded after moving to California in 83... I had also seen the 82 shows from visiting the previous summer & knew Ventura Dead on the Beach Shows were awesome... weather was always beautiful & those sunsets...... I miss those!

Jerry's Voice on China cat sounds interesting. Almost like he is talking rather then singing. It is nice to hear his voice coming through the Eagle Wing Palace of the Queen Chinee.

Two opener rarities in one show, a first set Chinacat and a second set Sugaree. Of course Bob had to mess up perfection with Brother Esau but I needed to take a P break then anyway. ☺️
Band is truly on fire and clicking on all cylinders. When they play like this l, i get the urge to run!! Each note and syllable propels me further and I want to chase the song.
Beautiful- great sound quality. Jerry's voice isn't at the top of his game, but his guitar as always still sounds great. Brent had really found his way as the keys man. Bobby, Phil, and the drummers all sounding very fine.
@@eletricnaneland352 I got spoken to by the Lady of the "good" dead shows Feeling jazzed Full respect to the Lads and Donna for "dialing it in" on some shows over the years Everyone looks for those gold nugget songs that suggest a "good" show Like Doing That Rag Althea or Sunflower Any show with no Bertha is a hopeful sign
