I always liked Combat, it is now my favorite show ever. I loved Magnum PI and some other action shows over the years, The A Team(I know, corny, but I always liked Mr. T). This is by far the greatest show I have ever seen, rivaling most movies. I would rather watch this than any modern super hero movie, and I'm a big Captain America and Hulk fan. But this is about REAL super heroes , the only kind that actually exist. Hats off to the US military(the real one) and to those who portrayed them as men, mere men who went above the rest of us to become our real life heroes.
I was 10 years-old when Combat came on and I remember as a kid I really loved it. I am enjoying now at 60 as much as I did back then. Too bad they don't make shows like this anymore.
Combat! inspired me to learn German. When I was a kid I always wondered what the Germans were saying. So after years of high school German, college German, attending a year at the University of Heidelberg, living another couple years in Germany and even worked as a tour guide in Germany, I can now understand what the Germans are saying. I can even tell which ones are native speakers vs the ones with American accents. Vielen Dank Combat!
Dick Peabody (lilltejohn) wrote in 1992: The most stand-offish guest was Robert Duvall. He appeared in four or five shows but spent all of his time, when the camera wasn't rolling, running his lines behind the sets. None of us got to know him well enough to decide whether he was a good guy, a bad guy, or just unfriendly. Dennis Weaver was the first runner-up in this category.
+phillyflash43 - You know, I've heard similar tales about Bobby Duvall but when I met him in person for the first time in 2002 as an "old west" actor playing "seconds" or "the background cowpokes", me and several other actors thought he was a great guy! In fact, he was the one after several days of shooting kept insisting that we all call him Bobby rather than Robert or Mr. Duvall, as some did at the time. Now as for Dennis Weaver? It was well known throughout the background actors that Weaver was quite arrogant and very stuck on himself which eventually hurt his career pretty bad from what I understood.
I recall former Price Is Right model Kathleen Bradley said on a tv show she was up for an acting role...she was in a car with Duvall who asked her how badly she wanted the part and pushed her head down toward his crotch. I can't find anything on google about it though.
Thank you very much VariousVideo2012 for posting season 4 and 5. I've watched all 5 seasons on youtube and have enjoyed it very much. Robert Altman was considered the BEST Combat Director. He directed several in first two years: Combat! (1962-63) ep. 1-1: "Forgotten Front" (a.d. December 25, 1962) ep. 1-16: "The Volunteer" (a.d. January 22, 1963) ep. 1-20: "Off Limits" (a.d. February 19, 1963) ep. 1-23: "Survival" (a.d. March 12, 1963)
Glad the old concrete ditch made it to the last episode and shared the screen with the real downtown LA demolition site. A great 152 episode journey over the last few months. So sad to read how tragically both Rick Jason and Vic Morrow were to die years later.

This is the Last Episode of "Combat!" to air. March 1967. I wonder if they knew they were going to be cancelled when they shot this one? It would have been great if they shot a "Finale" show with a VE Day theme or something. This one is a great show but doesn't really wrap up how our boys wound up in their adventure through Europe. Did they all make it home? What a great television show it was...
Vietnam War was serious from 1965 to 71-72. Saigon fell 1975. We won WWII. Nam was manipulated and many soldiers resented fighting what should have been a short/war/won.

Landis (and Spielberg) are both Money Grubbers and would probably risk their own mother's lives to shoot their "artistic" Films. I'd also point out though that Vic Morrow and/or his Agent should have objected to putting his life in danger when they saw the ordnance and situation the Helicopter was flying into. The Aerospace Facility where I've worked 32+ years has "Time Out" cards and ANY employee can stop production and hand his card to a Safety Officer if he feels a task is unduly hazardous.

This final episode takes the cake though with the modern power line towers, the "Safety Orange" painted beams in the building, modern day wooden pallets and the list goes on. I think the producers were simply receiving far too many complaints from real WWII veterans and that along with a dying budget and the writers running out f ideas finally took its toll on the series. While I did enjoy it as a boy, even at the age of ten I knew it was strictly entertainment and far from historical truth & accuracy. Thanks for taking all the time & effort to post the entire series, it brought back some fond memories and great times with dad.

Wow!..Claudine Lon'get before her death!..Robert at 67.
She is still alive.
@@KMK7355 Then who was that other big French/American star of the same era late 60's/early 70's that was simialarly popular in movies?, it's a blur.
@@KMK7355 Allright, I had it backwards, she was convicted of murder of Olympic skier 'Spider Sabatch'. She served only 30 days. I was half right, there was death involved.
Bagus nih film
Despite high ratings, Combat was replaced by another Selmar production called Garrison's Gorillas. That olny lasted on season and was inspired by The Dirty Dozen.
GG was an awful show.
America LOVES war. Case in point: Combat TV show ran 5 seasons despite the fact USA's involvement in the European campaign only lasted 22 months, from July 43 (invasion Sicily) thru May 45.
Maybe it cost to much to film
Saunders ! I bet he could take Rambo ! He'd make Rambo look lake a woman . Saunders stone cold bad ass !!!

After watching all the actresses that have played the French girls, if the French girls are that pretty in real life. I can see why the Germans keep invading.
Spielberg wasn't there when it happened. Never was accused of any wrong doing. Landis is a murderer. And a lousy director.
