  • In this video I'll explain how to earn every ribbon at Air Force Basic Training. If you think of Basic training as a video game, you'll see that basic training is just like the tutorial stage. But while there, there's opportunity for you to earn achievements. You can obtain an honor grad ribbon and a marksman ribbon if you work really hard. This is the only time you'll ever have the opportunity to get an honor grad ribbon, so make sure you give basic training your best.

    When I went to basic last year every trainee that didn’t wasn’t recycled or recieved an unsatisfactory rating was eligible for honor grad. Honor grad is earned by scoring enough points on a point system instead of having your TI recommend you.
    • Lack of discrepancies during your official living area inspection (Your bed and wall locker).
    • Your PT test score if it’s good enough can get you points (You don’t need to score a 90 to earn honor grad I didn’t and still got it)
    • Earning the marksman ribbon will get you points
    • Having a leadership role such as guidon bearer, element leader, dorm chief, and chappel guide will earn you points
    • Most importantly you need to get a 90 on the EOC.
    Getting a 90 on the EOC just about makes you a lock for honor grad. So many people that were deserving of honor grad didn’t get it because they didn’t get a 90 on their EOC. Despite just being an okay trainee I got honor grad over said people because I scored a 90 on the EOC. There are probably other things I missed that get you points toward honor grad that I’m sure someone straight outta basic will let me know.

    • @strumminandwrenchin9162
      @strumminandwrenchin9162 Месяц назад +2

      Unfortunately, i met most of the criteria, save for a leadership position. Did chow runner from 1WOT till graduation day breakfast chow. Scored perfect on my CATM qual, 91.8 on final PT test, 94 on EOC, and never received a U in all WOTs. Still didn’t get honor grad.
      But that’s ok.

They all master the break down and put back together the M16's and did their firing range with the electronic M4s, he score a 19 on the final test. Hey Jody! Thank you so much for your time creating this content. It's been incredible having this resource in getting prepared to join.
    I had a question I was hoping you could give insight on. I want to join for several reasons, one of those being I want to help put my wife through college. It's my understanding that airmen get education benefits and their spouses as well, or only if the airman gives up their own education benefits (which is fine by me, I've had my chance at school, it's her turn for her dream). I'm also confused about when she would be able to use those benefits. I read somewhere she could only use them 6 years after I join?
    Hoping you could help me clear things up on benefits that spouses are entitled to. Thank you Jody!

    • @Jodywithawhy
      @Jodywithawhy  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your support. You are correct about the 6 years of service. But even after 6 years, you have to commit to another 4 years to transfer the benefits.

There was 'No Honor Grad either', only an Honor Flight.' My Good Conduct medal was my first ribbon and medal and that was years later. Funny as also many years later, when the BMT graduation ribbon was added, I received it some 10 years after graduating from BMT. 🤣🤣🤣
