  • Historical Note: This may be the LAST video of Davy Jones. This was moments after his LAST concert at the Winstar in Oklahoma. I posted this on the 27th of February. I could not know that he would pass just two days later. It was Diana's FIRST concert.

You should meet Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits. What a wonderful gentleman. I worked with him two times and both times I some how got into in endless conversation with him about how show business has changed, old theatre's etc.

He died either while doing something he loved or just afterward. Doesn't matter if it was in the stables, his car, or at home. He's still gone. There has been no cover-up; it's a testament to his character that none was needed! Let's just remember him on stage, singing and dancing and having all the fun he could stand! Thank you for sharing. Glad he got to meet some cools fans as a lasting memory before he left us. I'm sure he took that love with him. in my 54 years of living I have seen allot of fans from many a band and none of them are as genuine and caring in my experience than Monkees fans. Just good people. I'm sad his life was cut short, but I think he knew he was loved.

Davy looks the picture of health. He had such a wonderful sense of humor. I remember seeing him at a concert at Epcot some years ago. I have some photographs, but not really great ones. I still would like to find them and have a look. God Bless you, Davy Jones.

David Jones was an entertainer with a quick wit and an understanding of exactly what the audience wanted to see and hear from working so much on the live stage.. being the youngest of the monkeys and the fact that he was pretty particular about his health it's really strange that he was the first one to go. Rip David Jones

@@Gillianfife I'll have to check that show out. I've never heard anybody with David's voice before, it's rather distinct. Once again probably from being a stage actor, they have to project their voice when they're working 🙂

I met Davey in Hawaii in 2004 or thereabout. He was performing there and staying at Chip Hatelids house up on the noth shore in Waialua. Chip produced The Monkees first album and he and Davey had remained friends all those years. I was a nurse who took care of Chips mother the year before she passed. The Hatelids had extended an invitation for me to stay in the house anytime I came back to Hawaii. When I called to say I was coming to Hawaii, they said Davey Jones is staying there and would not be leaving until one day after I got there. Would I mind, they asked? Mind spending the night in the presence of Davy Jones??? Are you kidding me!!! My husband to be was with me. The funny thing is that I was never really a fan of The Monkees. I thought they were kind of silly back in the day. Anyway, we fly into Honolulu and then take the bus to Wahiawa, about 10 miles from Wialua. I call the house and Davey answers the phone. This is Davey, can I help you? I say Davey, this is Kate and our bus wont be here for an hour so can you leave the key under the mat so we can get in the house when we get there. I'll just come and pick you up. Where are you? Im thinking DAVEY JONES is coming to pick me up!!!!!!!- He gets there and sees my fiance in a wheelchair, grabs the chair and helps him in the car and then stows the wheelchair in the trunk. Want to join us for dinner, he says? Im kind of tired,Davey. My fiance gives me a look. Sure,We would love to,I say. The intended restaurant was one of the most expensive places on the island. I had been there, but only for lunch. At the end of the meal Davey said,Ill get this when the bill came. I said, no, Davey, we will pay our share. He waved me off and took the bill. When he came back, he said the restaurant had comp'd the bill. I dont know if they did or if Davey paid it. Either way we had a lovely meal and what service!! Of course the restaurant knew who Davey was. No one bothered us during the meal. When we were driving homeDavey made a stop at the 7-11 store. Then when we got home he handed the bag from 7-11 and said, some things for your breakfast. The next day before he left, we took pictures by the ocean in the back yard. He hugged and kissed us and then he was gone. What a swweet and thoughtful guy. I never told him I wasnt a fan. But I have been since that day.

What a fantastic story Kate!! I was and still am struck by his embracing of his success and familiarity among the general population. This last concert of his, I really didn't want to go, but, I did, my wife in the video had never been to a concert, so, this was her first.. (i tried to lay a joke in there that I thought I was her first to no avail lol); but, he was so personable. I play music too and know and how weird it can be to meet people you don't know and you try to be cordial, but, frankly, it's weird. He was amazing at it. And, thank you so much for the story. That is an amazing story. I hope people that come to see my postings will read it!
