As long as we are talking about Chicago, to me the big shocker was John C. Reilly doing Mr. Celophane. That was an incredible rendition. Then there was the shocker of hearing Lyndsey Lohan in A Prairie Home Companion surrounded by all that singing talent holding her own. That was an interesting version of Frankie and Johnnie. And Virginia Madsen infuriates me because you have to ask if there is anything that that woman can not do. The list of people is endless that were surprising as singers. Jennifer Lawrence doing Hanging Tree in the third Hunger Games is another example. Such a sultry, earthy performance that was. And she said that frightened her more than anything else she did for the entire movie series. And what about Hugh Grant in Music And Lyrics? That was really Drew and Hugh and Haley doing their own singing in the film.

She's the star (well, part of an ensemble cast, but she's the lead character, as well as an Executive Producer) of the Hallmark TV series "When Calls the Heart." Erin is probably not very well-known, if at all, outside of Hallmark, although she did also have regular appearances on the Lifetime series "Army Wives." Anyway, aside from being a terrific actor, Erin has an incredibly beautiful singing voice. She has had a few opportunities to showcase it on WCTH, but the best one was singing "Danny Boy" in the 4th season episode "My Heart Will Go On." Her character is a teacher in a small Canadian frontier town in the 1910s, and her class put on a music recital. One kid, a shy pianist, didn't want to play unless she sang with him, so she did. And wow, what an incredible performance it was! And it was mostly recorded live on set, too, not in a studio. I kid you not when I said it's the most beautiful thing I've heard in my life!

    Yes, but also:
    Jeremy Northam - Gosford Park
Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd - De-Lovely
Meryl Streep - Mama Mia, Into the Woods, A Prairie Home Companion
Bradley Cooper - A Star is Born
and I'm sure we're missing several actors from earlier film eras!
