Nah... he had a concussive injury from the fall. He literally got knocked out. He wasn't "near death" at any point of his situation. That's not how it works.... at all.

25 yrs ago I fell 25 ft head first from a scaffold to the concrete floor. Houston Sports Clinic Dr. Burkis Columbus Ga fused my neck (hardware and screws). Please please do what your dr and rehab tells you to do! One thing I learned from my accident was patience! Cause rehab doesn’t happen overnight! Bless you my friend!

@@TarikRom-hu3jj My neck injury started out as a herniated disc. Fusion neck surgery. 10 yrs later had to remove the fusion cause the discs were pinching the spinal cord Ike pinching a straw. Had Laminectomy shortly there afterwards. Then 2 yrs later had lumbar fusion. It’s been 25 yrs since my accident. I’ve done the rehab and home exercises. I wore a neck brace for my 1st neck fusion for 6mo wore the neck brace for the 2nd neck brace 8mo. I’m 68 yrs old arthritis build up all up my spine with nerve ending damages. I’m able to walk with a cane but at times I use a rolator. I’m not able to take pain killlers due to medication damages to kidney and liver. I’m allergic to aspirin. So Tylenol is my go to but it doesn’t help
I have had a Spinal Cord Stimulator installed. It helps a lot . During barometric rise and fall I have pain
Before thunderstorms I have neck and low back pain. Drs tell me not much more can be done for arthritis and nerve pain so I just bare it. Lay down get still
I love to cook and bbq. On my good days I cook. Sometimes I over do it and I pay for it for a few days. Play on my good days lay on my bad days
I also have given Botox shot injections to my low back every 90 days. It helps numb the pain for 30 days or so. Like any other pain medicine it is only camouflage tricks your mind into believing there is no pain. So no summer salts or leaping tall buildings and wonder why the meds are not working!
Best I can explain my accident…. Fell 25 feet head first to concrete floor. I weighed 190 so I was doing about Mach 6 when I hit the floor.
Imagine an automobile head on collision…,..
bumper shoved into radiator motor pushed back transmission mounts broke driveshaft drove into rear axle. Each one needing its own repair. Not all repairs to factory parts are helpful but no cure.
Do what your Drs tell you do what rehab tells you don’t overdo tasks
Remember you are your worst enemy…… you tell yourself you can but your body says you can’t do don go and do it just to show you can you will be laid up a few days or a week in the hospital!!!!

Hello Mr. Barron. Thank you for the update and it's nice to know that you can get around a little. May I emphasize Sir and ask you to PLEASE DON'T RUSH THINGS. I know that someone that is productive and with many things going on and all of the seasonal things that you enjoy doing that it is tempting to push the envelope of getting back to things quickly, however, the nature of your injuries can and will have lifelong consequences IF you don't let the damaged areas heal correctly. If you rush it, extra scar tissue will develop in those injuries and your movements will be forever restrictive along with pain. If you do the therapy faithfully and let all of the time go by that is NECESSARY for it to heal CORRECTLY , you can avoid the restrictions and pain. All of us want nothing but the best for you Sir and please understand that this comment is for that reason. Let everyone help you and take care of you through the LENGTHLY healing process and THEN, you can get back to the things you love to do. Bless you and your household Sir and our prayers continue for your healing.......Michigan

Hello from Maine, Maine North Woods Hunter here. I was involved in a motorcycle accident on November 11 1990. I broke my back and right femur and a few other things. I am partially paralyzed from the waist down now. It is a tough road but I manage. I am praying for you and hope that you heal completely my friend. I still get out and hunt and try to do as much as I can. It may not be the same, but it sure beats watching everyone else doing it and I watching it on TV. God Bless and Good Hunting to you.

From your description of the neck injury, it sounds like surgery. Something has to be done to stabilize that fracture…screws and/or clamp as you say. Please don’t take any unnecessary risks sir. I've hunted in treestands for years, and I have been using safety lines for the last ten or twelve years at the request of my wife! Sorry to hear about your misfortune but glad to hear you are going to eventually be okay! I am sending prayers for a speedy recovery! I'm pushing 69 years old and don't plan on giving up bowhunting for as long as I can still climb into a stand!!! Hang in there bro.

When you can’t climb a tree then don’t give up your Hunting, Then it’ll be time to go to Ground Blinds. They are very effective once you get them put up and established. Once the deer get used to that ground blind being there they don’t pay it a bit of attention. Glad you’re still hunting at your age, I’m real close to your age and I’m still hunting also. If i ever get wheel chair bound in my old age as long as I can still operate a rifle or crossbow....Then I’ll have someone roll me into a ground blind so I can still hunt. God Bless ya brother, happy hunting for as long as you can go! 😁👍🏼

Throughout my years of OSHA training, I've learned that harnesses are great, but if you're hanging by one you have 15 minutes for someone to rescue you or your gone because it cuts off your blood flow. The best harnesses are the ones with foot holes like on a horses saddle. You step in these holes and stand up which prevents the harness cutting off your blood flow around your legs. You obviously have a high tolerance of pain. Speedy recovery to you!!!!

A friend of mine had the same thing happen with a deer stand several years ago. She is only about 90 pounds and it really broke her poor little body. She was not in as good of shape as you are and it took her a long time to recover. Ended up with a steel rod in her back. I hope you do well. My son had a torn ligament between two vertebrae in his neck when he was 9 and ended up with spinal fusion surgery. He recovered well and the only residual problem he has had is that he doesn't have full motion in his neck. He compensates by turning his shoulders so it doesn't really interfere with much. If you end up with neck surgery, I hope you do as well. Best wishes in your recovery!

I'm paralyzed from a truck accident. Happened 10 years ago, I'm 37 now. It's life changing but it really isn't that big of a deal. I'm a ground hunter now, use a trackchair to get around. I still build stuff, weld metal, hell even painted 2 vehicles. My advice to everyone, is go to a children's hospital. Once you see all those young kids that will most likely never leave and die at a very young age........ It will change how you look at life. This is just a small bump in the road Jeff. Give it a year and it will just be a memory and a good story to tell. Get well buddy

You're very lucky. When I broke my neck, I stood up and my whole body collapsed. Dead from the chest down. That was 42 years ago. God bless you.

Glad you survived the learning experience. I’m sure all the people in your life have gone over many times and in great detail how you screwed up, how lucky you are, and how not to let it happen again. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the update. You’re very lucky to be alive. Also lucky not to be paralyzed.
I’ve never used deer tree stands but I’ve have dangerous jobs and fell several times. One time I broke both my heels. Another time I broke my arm, ribs and scapula. I’ve had a bunch of broken ribs throughout my life. Ribs are easy to break apparently.
    We’ll be praying for healing.

Hello from Florida. Glad for the update. Seriously take it easy and don't worry about too much activity until the bones are mended. The muscle atrophy is a minor issue compared to staying in positions that have things heal straight and strong. Avoid getting any hardware from surgery if you can. Nobody has improved quality of life from it, but it'll be there as an available option if your integrity in bones ever really gets that bad. Didn't know I almost met your daughter in Las Vegas recently, by accident. Would've been less focused on work if I knew that was a thing. You're doing good. Stay safe out there.

Hey Jeff, please don't mess around with your healing and don't be afraid of surgery. I've had two surgeries on my neck for discs that were pinching my spinal cord. Some people say they don't want to get surgery, but I look at it like they are simply stabilizing the structure! So if needed, get er done! And let Hannah take good care of ya as well. I've been praying for both of y'all and I'm telling ya, your one tuff cookie! Take care now and you will feel better later! God bless ya! 🙏 💪

Jeff, I was 'dead' for 20 minutes after riding head first into a tractor in 1990. I had exactly the same kind of beautiful dream before I was dragged back into my body with a headache.

It's hard for me to listen to this story , which I only made it through about 4 minutes of it , coz I'm in the woods twice a week doing similar stuff all the time alone. Safety is the # 1 goal that I think about before I take on any projects. I' KNOW you'll strap up next time , Jeff ; and I'm glad you're pulling through this. Taker easy.
