Carrying a shillelagh walking stick is a good option....There are some excellent schools for learning to use them well, but they don't take much creativity to discover how useful one can be....
You can discover and train your own methods therewith, both defencively and offencively, (alongside your empty hands training)), and, once have an idea of martial principles, and the effectiveness thereof cannot be overstated.
The same goes for the Kubotan Keychain, and other similar devices.
Basic everyday and household objects are also useful to look into and train the effectiveness thereof, and can easily be carried and made easily accessible as one grows older.
The simple biro, especially certain brands and types, cannot possibly be overstated, also...

it is better to be ready at all times than being sorry when it comes least expected. I am 42 myself and I still practice. a few wrist locks, arm locks, coupled with boxing skills, good footwork, a few kali skills, should do the trick.

I found that as you get older, distance becomes an ally. The younger fighter is going to have more speed, strength and stamina. So, what other options do you have in your favor? One strike options is always going to be most favorable. Learning and remembering several key strike points and zones would be a big help here. Secondly, maintaining mobility to limit the likelihood of receiving impacts from well aimed attacks is probably your next best option. Intended to give you just enough time to extract yourself from immanent harm. Other than those rules, if I id a trouble situation or an assailant heading my way. I go off in the opposite direction. Again, distance is my ally. It's not about whether you're being unmanly. With so many nutters out there, it's about surviving.

Shifting weight onto a particular leg is one of the biggest indicators, particularly when someone is going to kick.
A trained boxer may be very hard to read, particularly if they have street experience also...( They will have the shot already loaded, in their initial stance....)
But most lads will give it away with the shoulders...

    • @channi58
      @channi58 4 года назад

Training in judo and boxing will give you the natural indicators preluding an attack. Weight shift, hand leg movement whatever etc. One often underlooked area is footwork!

"Who spins to kick in a street fight?" - I know a guy who actually got off. Bullies were I don't know, first grade of high school and he was about 2 years younger. In act of desperation, almost cornered, he spin kicked the leader, knocking him down. Rest off the guys TOOK notice. Rare, but still happens. If you look closely, most of typical bullies, not gangsters, have very similar group composition. There's withdrawn, cold an strong one, there's a 'nice' guy, there's small, unimposing loudmouth, there's a leader and possibly one other. Knock down either leader or 'muscle' and group usually switches to peace mode.

Yeah ive done it. I think its a good one for a foght cuz it creates distance and moves your head back a bit. And theres a lot of weight and momentum behind it, it can pierce to the body quite easily if you do the kick right obviously

A guy threw a shopping trolley at me once, I knocked it away with a spinning back kick & it stopped the fight straight away, he was obviously surprised, but so was I, it could have gone so wrong, but I got lucky & hit the side instead of my foot going into it & getting caught up. I was probably almost as surprised & impressed as he was.

Not always but, when you’re outnumbered they’re usually the type that never want to go one on one. That often times means each of them is expecting their buddy standing with them to make the first move on the intended victim. This allows them to be sure not to take any damage and jump in without any risk of injury. If you have no way to escape or talk them down and you assess that none of them wants to be the first to strike use it to your advantage. You can definitely get a shot at the first guy and most likely the second. When you do that make them shots to do serious damage. Nothing but incapacitating strikes.

Just something from my 16years of martial arts and (unfortunately) alot of street fights: the look away and the step back are truly the 2 most important signs. Why is that? Steping back even slightly with one foot is to gain balance and have enough force to punch (no untrained person can really hit correct from a square position). Why the look away? This person is preparing him to punch you by looking away. even for a short moment he dehumanzied you. Think like this: if we were just talking and discussing and i looked u in the eyes i will feel emotions etc. by looking away i cut that tie, and it will be easier for me to do damage to you. Theres 2 types here those who don’t want to punch or don’t really feel good doing that (those will do the look away like 95%). But there are also psYchos and/or trained people who will punch you while looking straight into your eyes and without telegraphing almost anything. So always keep your hands up in a defensive but non aggressive position („the thinker“) and be prepared to block or strike first. Have a nice day guys🤝🔥

Reading the shoulders is a good indicator.
We used to do a reaction drill. The training partner/bad guy has to tap you on any shoulder with any arm (simulating a jab or straight punch) Haymakers take longer.
The defender has to palm strike their shoulders (the one that's moving) to stop them in their tracks.
I was amazed when i learnt it. Felt like a super power. I used to ask people at school to try and hit me and practice.

The only way to *"see punches coming"* is sparring or shadowboxing while practicing your head movement and blocks, and a whole lot of it, and then a whole lot more of it, and them some more.
You have to have your stance right and guard up, ready to throw the straight punches....
Basically the punches that are most likely to connect are the straight punches and hooks, uppercuts usually connect as part of a combination....
So let's discuss the blocks appropriate for all kinds of punches....
    *Straight punches*
So if someone is straight punching you, you simply stop their punches by putting one or both hands up, and blocking their hands before it achieves it's full extension, and in case of powerful cross punches, deflecting them to a position where your head won't be, this will expose them for your hits to land.
*Essentially what you are doing is turning your hands in to the target instead of your head, like a mitt*
*YOU WILL ALWAYS USE YOUR ANTAGONISTIC HANDS TO INTERCEPT THEIR STRAIGHT PUNCHES, IF THEY THROW A LEFT STRAIGHT YOU WILL INTERCEPT IT WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND WHILE MOVING YOUR BODY AND HEAD TO THE RIGHT, IF THEY THROW A RIGHT STRAIGHT YOU WILL INTERCEPT IT WITH YOUR LEFT HAND, MOVING YOUR HEAD AND BODY TO THE LEFT*
    *Hook punches*
Same approach is ideal for hook punches, using antagonistic hands, but always use 360 blocking technique for hook punches, it's the safest and most effective block, please RUclips "360 defense krav maga".
    *Uppercuts*
Simply block those punches by intercepting them with your elbows.
*Now all of these things will be possible ONLY IF YOU HAVE YOUR GUARD UP, IN A SQUARED STANCE, LIKE MIKE TYSON*
If you have that guard up you will be able to block any straight or hook punch, but whether you can keep doing that is the real question, that's where practice comes into play.
If you really concentrate in your shadow boxing, *YOU CAN GET BETTER AT BLOCKING WITH ONLY SHADOWBOXING, BUT YOU HAVE TO VISUALIZE THAT SCENARIO IN YOUR MIND*

FOR A NORMAL DRAGON KICK YOU ARE RIGHT,PEOPLE MIGHT SEE THE KICK BUT THERE IS ONE KICK THAT IS TWICE AS FAST THAN THE DRAGON KICK,"THE TALE OF THE DRAGON KICK",IS A KICK TWICE AS FAST AS THE NORMAL DRAGON KICK,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT YOU ARE NIT USING THE NORMAL "360 DEGREES HEAD MOVE",IN THE DRAGON KICK YOU NORMALLY USE THIS SPIN OF YOUR HEAD TO KNOW WHERE TO PUT THE KICK,BUT IN THE "TALE DRAGON KICK" YOU DON'T USE IT,SO YOU GAINED TWICE OF THE SPEED BUT LOST EXACTLY PRECISION(THE NORMAL.KICK DOES);THIS TALE KICK I USED IT ONCE IN A "STREET FIGHT" AND THE GUY(WHO HAD BOXING TRAINING) DIDN'T SEE IT COMING AND I HIT HIS KIDNEY AND BEND HIM,THIS KICK REALLY WORKS IN A "STREET FIGHT"!!

Way we tried not to telegraph strikes was, used to balance weights on head then practice low kicks, ankle mainly as first strike then follow up with combinations. Really like your videos there to the point and none of the usual bull.

  • @mightymeatmonsta

The best cues are watching the front elbow and front knee. They move at 1/2 speed when doing a straight punch or kick, and 1/4 speed when doing a hook or side kick. If you watch the fist or feet, they travel too fast to catch. Watching the shoulders can also be deceiving. They can feint the shoulder movement, causing you to respond, then he will throw the real punch while you are dropping your hands.

I don’t understand it but everywhere I go, and even if I drink and provoke whether I go to the hood or down town night alone or day alone gang or no gang people see me and are friendly to me. Instantly they submit.
I’m skinny they can throw me like a tennis ball if they want to. Sometimes, I can’t believe it myself.
Now that I’m very confident, I go to the worst part of the city alone, everyone I see in the eye straight will node or see the other way.
Really Scares me. Any one out there
    With such an experience?

I know this may sound crazy but I had a Sifu that could kick you without moving up, down, left or right. He's older now but he trained a sort of roundhouse where he rolled his hip. When he hit you your body shook . He said he learned it from a tai boxer.

One of the best SD things I have ever heard is Marc MacYoung saying "I give you permission to walk away." A lot of young guys in particular get into an ego battle and their ego won't let them walk away because they think is it being a pussy. But MacYoung, a recognized martial arts badass and expert giving you permission, your ego takes less of a hit. If you have to back down just say "Marc gave me permission."

  • @TheQuarterbackX
    @TheQuarterbackX 5 лет назад +2

Eh. Some truth and experance to make it all work. Though other aspects I disagree with and the reasoning why.
The eyes can tell you the persona intent and when they will strike. Though there is also a timing to when a person may attack as well. There are subconscious instant simulations of the eyes. I dont mean to pin point your focus to tight and narrow on only being able to see theireyes. Which can be difficult for beginners who adrenalin pumping to hard. Scared or angry. All of these will give a person a tight tunnel vision. But, to keep you vision on the eyes with it being slightly unfocused to see the rest of the body..
One example given here is when a person looking away. Agsin he is looking away with his eyes. Some times it can make the opponent look to see where they are looking. Meaning you I'd the other person is looking away. Or, them, when you are looking away. Usually they are looking to see who is watching or not watching. Who may be watching may be his friends who may back him up, seeing them can embolden some people, or making sure there is not a person of athority or one to stop or punish then for fighting. If he sees an aspect that is encouraging, they many, times will strike as looking back. Catching you of guard. Or, some people believe in a fight it is best to strike first.
When they do this there are many things you can do to your advantage. Though also look for the tell that many people will start to cock their arm back, already making a fist, hiding the fist behind themself subconsciously in preperation of throwing a punch.
Yiu can take a step back to increase distance so to make it harder for him to hit you. Or, my,favorit it to side step thecopposit way he is looking this way when he may start to punch, he is basing his punch to where he thinks you are by where you where. If you moved around him to the opposite direction, where you are now off center from him, the more around him in his circular promoter, the better off you are. Again much of this is based on experance to what you know. If you move over just a little then best to have lots of experance and knowledge to how. If you have little experance and knowledge, better to be not just off center but to actually be to his side, where he was original standing before looking away. Think of there as a ( t ) on the spot he is standing. The way he is originally facing the forward backward step to you and away from you is the vertical part of the ( t ). And, in his position the side to side step from his position will be the horizontal part of the ( t ). When you get more advanced you can also think of an (x) marking the spot for diagonal stepping you can think of as well. Best to step to the horizontal position of your opponent. The more you move around the person, not only will it become harder for the opposite to adjust to your new position. If you time it right, you can very easily make the feel you even disappears as if magic. This simple move not only give you a great advantage to take away their offence. But, you also gain an even greater advantage with how dominant exposition you have to strike ad wellman many times this simple move can cause the opponent mind to short out. Knowing no matter how quickly he may be able to adjust, there is nothing he can do to adjust enough if you chose to strike him that very moment. Also it is magical from his view point, which he will not be able to think and understand. So, it will also play with how quickly and easily you were able to take such a dominating position while making his position so extreamly week. Basically telling him that if you can fmdo this to him, which you already did, that is is very likely already out classed and already lost because of it.
You can also watch how the person may start to move his feet to prepairchowxhecmay want to strike. If you know which foot he willstep with. You can simply step outside where he is fmgoing to step. At an more advanced level some boxers will cut off the step so that it blocks their leg and/or foot from moving any whay they may want.
Yes with the shoulders Though this is only good for inexperienced opponents. They do not understand as a rule how to keep from moving their shoulder up before moving and striking.
Again know your distance to be out of reach. Even out of a single step reach.
It is the people who seem way too relaxed , no tension are the ones to watch out most. This is either because they have lots ofexperance, or some people are just wired that way when it.come to fighting some even enjoy it and are relaxed and comfortable in such situations These are the hardest to read because of their mental and physicalxrelax state. They are less likely to give tells. Maybe the eyes at best to get an early tell, with their eyes automatically , subconsciously dilate. Maybe they may cock their arm up and, or back. Though these because of how they tend to be the best at hiding intent, when and how they may strike distance and knowing to how to move off their center and such play much more importance. Also to have a greater understanding of your distance as well as theirs best to have a greater distance to where you cant quickly jump toward hom to his him, because that same distance will allow him to do the same. Think more you want to be kicking distance to better keep put of his hand reach, while keeping you in your leg length to kick and keep him at a distance better.
Though remember, watching the shoulder to turn can be too late of a read. After all a person can move their arm up to a punch without turning the shoulder until the last part of the chain of movement. Thus taking away your resd and reaction time. Same is also true with the knee strike mentioned here in the video. Some people are awaire of their tell and can move their leg up to knee strike without moving their shoulders, and hips until it's one of the last chain of events in the knee strike or even kick
It's all in some people do these things by dumb lick of their emotional state to do these aspects of is basic training in boxing. If you go to a boxing gym in your area, they will teach these aspects fairly quickly. They will teach you to look for such things, but also for you to prevent yourself from doing it as well .
With a good experanced fighter, they will also give people false reads to better trick and take advantage of their opponents much greater at times as well.
