    If you've ever wondered how to install a Washlet+ setup, with a skirted design, today's your lucky day. Today, we are going to walk through, in detail, installing a Toto Nexus Washlet+ toilet, with a S550e Washlet+ Bidet Seat. Cord and hose are completely hidden and we have the skirted design. Subscribe to our channel if you're looking to see the videos on partially skirted and non-skirted Washlet+ videos, when we release them here, in the near future. My name is Daniel Johnson. I'm your Bidet expert and the owner of ManyBidets.com, where over the past 8 years, we've sold over 10,000 Bidets.
    The first thing we need to do is, we need to use the template to decide where we need to drill holes in the floor. For the Nexus, you can have either 12, or 14 inch rough-in, both require different adapters. Some of the Washlet+ toilets, like the Aquia 4, have a 10 inch rough-in option, as well. Here, we see the 14 and the 12, but on some mounting templates you'd also see a 10, on the opposite side of the 12 line. We're dealing with a 12 inch rough in, so I tore the perforated edge for the 12 inch circle. Now, I'm going to take this template and place it over the flange. We're going to line it up here, so that it's as centered as we can have it here real quick. Now, we're going to grab a drill and drill holes here, here and here. If it makes it easier for you, you can tape this down while you're drilling the holes. Since we're not actually installing this in a real bathroom, i'm just going to hold it in place. Here's our 12 inch rough-in adapter. If we were dealing with a 14 inch, or a 10 inch rough in, the rough-in is from the center of these bolt holes, to the back wall, without the trim taking into account, but if we were dealing with a 12 or 10 inch rough-in, this piping would be longer, or shorter, accordingly. We are using a Better than wax seal here. A lot of people will use an actual wax ring on this portion. We're using better than wax simply, because it's less messy and we install a lot of toilets on this platform. These bolts, along with the additional hardware that I'm installing right now, are hardware that should have come with your flange, when you first installed it. These are items that Toto does not include, because they shouldn't be needed. That being said, if they did not come with your original flange, or it was misplaced, these can be quickly and easily picked up for a few dollars at your local hardware store. We're going to tighten this down, until it's snug. If you're using a wax ring, you'll definitely feel the wax kind of grip this flange adapter, as you tighten it down. Now, what we need to do is, we need to screw through the holes that we've created here in the back, to hold the back of the flange adapter down. These are short screws, they're the only short ones in the box and they're actually taped to the back of the flange adapter. You might also put anchors into the floor, which are in the same bag. We didn't in this scenario, because we're drilling into wood. That flange adapter is now tight. Again, remember this is our 12 inch flange adapter, and so we're working with a 12 inch rough and this should work just fine. We now have to install the brackets that the toilet screws into, and you'll see that...

      I would think few people would put a toilet on wood, what to do when using tile?

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 года назад

      Very valid point! We've installed toilets like this on tile as well. A few tricks worth considering: First make sure you have a drill bit designed to drill into tile. TOTO provides anchors to insert into these holes. Secondly, put some painters tape down and drill through the tape. This helps to keep your drill bit from sliding around so you get a nice clean hole. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi Daniel,
    My auto flush on my nexus with washlet 550e doesn’t work consistently. It does auto flush but not every time after use. What can we do to fix it?
    Is there option to auto raise the seat as needed after the lid auto open?
    Does Toto sell adaptive children toilet seat for little kid? If not, will it cause any sensory damage to the seat itself if we place one on?
    Thank you very much for all your straight to the point informative, honest and helpful videos!

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  Год назад

      Thanks for asking! The auto flush should work every time. If you want to reach out to us with your order number with us, we can file a warranty claim with TOTO on your behalf. There is an option to raise the seat on the top of the remote. If you don't see it, whoever installed your auto flush did so incorrectly, and did not put the proper top on the remote. There is no adaptive children's toilet seat made by TOTO that I'm aware of. I would worry about scratches to the seat should one be used.
      Hopefully you found this helpful!! Thanks for reaching out!!

    Hello Daniel. Thanks so much for this informative Toto video. Does the flange adapter have to be perfectly symmetrical to the drain pipe? I need to install my Toto toilet about 2cm to the right of the centerline of the existing drain pipe. My contractor tells me it is impossible to do this as the adapter has to be perfectly aligned to the wall as well as being perpendicular to a straight line passing through both openings in the flange adapter. This has become a major issue on my remodel and he has offered no solution. I hope you can help. Thanks!

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  Год назад +1

      If I understand your statement correctly, because the adapter has to be bolted down to the flange, the adaptor does need to be lined up with said flange, which would then mean the toilet would have to be installed at an angle of the flange is not straight. If this is what your contactor is saying, I agree... :-/ If you would like to send some pics over, I'd be happy to review and give additional feedback if we're able to come up with a workaround.

    Boy, did I have a hell of a time installing one of these. Flipping a property, so we bought pre-owned stuff much of the time. I had no template, and the waste pipe flange was rotated and installed wrong. None of the flange bolts would work as the flange was so worn and busted. Luckily some tapcons did the trick.

      It is normal to have a bit of wiggle. If you're concerned about it, I'd recommend checking out a local show room, and seeing how the wiggle on their washlet+ units compares to the wiggle on yours. That will help you determine if your seat is properly installed.

    Great video! Last year in a bathroom reno, the plumber did not rotate the Tee Connector so the washlet hose is sticking out in plain view to the left of our mostly skirted Toto Vespin II bowl. If I shut the water off and flush until it is out of the tank, can I, at this point, disconnect the water supply and try to rotate the Tee Connector myself and reconnect the hose, or would I need an entirely new hose and o-ring? Installation was 9 months ago. But maybe I should have a plumber do it and test it for leaks? What do you think? A second bath reno is coming up!

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 года назад

      If you follow the proper steps (as you listed out above) I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to do exactly what you're trying to do without any negative side effects. You should be able to turn the water supply off, drain the tank, reposition things, and reconnect without needing to pick anything else up. Hope this helps!

    • @ManyBidets

      Washlet+ toilets can be used as a standard toilet with a standard toilet seat. You will have the hole in the back for where the bidet/washlet cords usually route. So that is sometimes not customers preference. The Nexus is made as a standard toilet without the washlet+ hole if that was the plan from the beginning.

      Unfortunately, anything under 11.5" is going to be too tight. You could try an offset flange to help get that extra bit of room or look at an option that comes with a 10" rough in size (Drake or Aquia are good options)

    Hi Daniel, we have a Toto smart toilet with the skirted bowl and flange adapter that we had installed about a year ago. We are getting some sewer gas smell. Is this an issue you have run into before and what is the best way to diagnose where it is coming from and how to fix? • @ManyBidets

      To date I have not heard of this happening. However, in my opinion, I think you're heading in the right direction. The adaptor is easy enough to replace, and should be replaced if the rubber looks like it's going bad. Again, to date I've not seen that be an issue, but it's worth checking. I would assume that if you take the toilet off, it will be clear where the problem is. As long as it's not cracked porcelain, the fix should be fairly easy

    In addition to the Toto S550e Bidet seat that has the cord and hose coming differently which allows it to be routed through the big hole in the toilet large hole, are there any other bidet seat that have that same cord and hose configuration coming that way?. I am asking as I am buying a Kohler K23188-HO-O that has the same large hole to accept the cords and conceal them. I do not want to see the cords if I buy the wrong bidet seat..So I was thinking buying the S550e but I wonder if other brands have also a configuration thta totally conceals the cords if routed through the large hole on toilet ceramic

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 года назад

      There are a few different reasons we've seen this happen. Normally when this happens it's because either the flange is too low, and you really should be using 2 wax rings, or the toilet is cracked somewhere that is causing a leak. If the issue is simply due the the flange, the fix is easy. Take the toilet off, put two wax rings on instead of one, and reinstall. If the issue is due to a cracked toilet, at that point, you'll need to reach out to whoever you purchased from to see about how they handle replacing the toilet.

    The two side blocks do not have pre-drilled holes. When we put side screws, these look like they go into those side blocks. Should we first pre-drill pilot holes into those side blocks? I feel directly putting those large side screws will crack the plastic side block.

    • @ManyBidets
      @ManyBidets  2 года назад

      The blocks do not have predrilled holes, and are not designed to. TOTO does not recommend drilling holes into the blocks. While it would seem like the plastic might crack, to date we've never seen that happen, and due to the fact that TOTO does not suggest drilling holes in the brackets, I'm assuming they rarely if ever see an issue like that either. Great question!!
