Hi great video thanks for sharing. A huge congrats for the camping sites recomendations.
Which month did you visit masai Mara ?
It can be done self driving right. ?
How long takes you Masaya Mara ?
Hi! We visited the Mara during the month of August to experience the great migration of the wildebeest in the park. Unfortunately, since July 2024, self-drive in the Masai Mara is no longer allowed for 2WD vehicles. To enter the park, you must either enter with a 4WD vehicle which is equipped for off-road conditions and is customised as a safari vehicle (i.e pop-up roof or reinforced suspension) or a driver-guide must accompany you. There are plentiful local tour operators in the area who you can book a trip with.
Hello, me again. We're flying to Kenya in two weeks, renting a Land Cruiser. Planning to drive from Nairobi to Sekenani Gate ,sleep over at Oseki (like you did here), then a couple of evenings at Elihuai in the Mara Triangle. Do you think 2 nights at Elihuai is enough? There is no migration currently so it's more just about seeing the scenery. Thanks!
Hi Riaan! Are there ever enough nights to spend in the Mara triangle?🤪
We also spent only 2 nights there to make the budget work, and it was great! You probably know about it, but Kenya issued a ban on self-driving in the Mara Reserve earlier this year, implying you cannot transit via Sekanani but would have to go around to Olooloo gate to reach the triangle. However, the latest we know is that they still allow self-drivers through Sekanani with a 2h pass to reach the triangle where you can self-drive, so you should be fine.
Just FYI, we recently launched Seeking Wonder Adventures which offers our favourite self-drive destinations across Southern & Eastern Africa as ready-made trips with some unique and personalised aspects for like-minded adventurers - maybe check it out for your next trip to Africa: seekingwonder.co.za/adventure-with-us/
We hope enjoy Kenya as much as we did🐆
