- In this video i am installing a 2 post car lift in a small garage. Ramp jack etc, in my smallish garage with height restriction. The lift is from Automotech in the UK. Staffordshire. The model is a AS 230 NSP. Due to restricted access to the garage & their delivery on a 15 Ton lorry. I went & picked it up myself. This is the best home shop install I have ever done. It was not hard for anyone with a bit of DIY knowledge. Please like & subscribe if you like the content. There will be much more of this type of video to come.
Looks good dad x
Thanks Em. Twas very heavy. Now I don't have to lay down.
Dad.
That's a fantastic setup Steve. Good price as well.
If the total width of both arms swing is too wide to pass between your wheels like you mentioned.
Drive your car into the lift, father forward than required. Swing the front arms fully out 90 degrees under your car.
Reverse your car back until you can also swing the rear arms fully out 90 degrees as above.
Position your car central to the lift and then set all the arms where required for lifting it up. That should work. Cheers Tony
Eyup Tony. Yes i was stood looking at it today & sort of went Doh idiot. Exactly what you are saying . I will have to push the car into position as when in position I cannot open the doors. But the base is dead level so it is quite easy to push the car into position. I think i will still make the custom cups to locate the chassis bolts. If for nothing else but to give me confidence to sit under a ton of weight. Many thanks for the comments.
Nice one Steve. I'd love one, but my garage is so small, I took the door off and put a studded wall in and turned it into a workshop. Great work!
Thanks for the comment Steven. When I built the garage I made it as large as possible in the small area that i had.
Steve.
@@Steviegtr52 I noticed the ML7 sun the background. Must be great to have it all in one place? I’d love a unit somewhere, but rental prices are stupidly hi here in Derbyshire.
Hi steven. It is a Super 7B. I have a full workshop in that room. Which I am hoping will be great for making some obsolete parts for the TVR.

I'm watching your video on making a ball turning tool at the moment. Hope it turns out as good as yours Steve. @@Steviegtr52
Thanks for that Steven. That just came pretty much from an idea. But worked out well in the end.

Hi Steve. Very interesting to watch you fit the two post lift. Brings back memories of two post lifts being installed where I used to work. The sound of the safety ratchet as the lift goes up invoked many flash backs. We had our lifts regularly serviced and inspected by engineers on behalf of our insurers. Those were worrisome days as the lifts paid the wages and down time was expensive.
Well done on fitting them in. Good luck on using them. Stay safe. 👍😀
Thanks very much for your input Andrew. I was going to do some more on the finishing touches today but the wind here is horrendous. So I'll give it a miss till tomorrow.
Steve.
What a cracking piece of kit! Me jealous or what!!!
Thanks for that Andrew. Something I always wanted but never got. No more laying on a Concrete floor. Shame garage was not a bit higher & I could have bought a full height lift & cheaper.
Steve.
And you did it all yourself, that was impressive. That is a great setup, your body will thank you. And for the cost, that looked to be a lot less expensive than many of the alternatives.
Looking forward to many videos using it.
Thanks Wachuko-1. I have just uploaded the final part tonight.
Steve.
In the next installment, Steve opens a tyre and exhaust centre! Nice addition Steve.
Well you had me rolling about laughing at that. Thanks Dean.
Steve.
Looks fantastic great job bet you’re circle of friends will increase 😂😂😂👍
Haha maybe. Billy no mates. Hoping it will save my creaking bones a bit. Thanks for the comment T.
Steve.
Excellent vid Steve, very informative.
Thanks Doug. Will be testing it out soon.
Steve.
Bloody good job Steve, you made short work of that!
Thanks Anthony. I fitted it a lot quicker than I thought it would take. Lets just see how it fairs up.
Steve.
Awesome job Steve!
Thanks very much for that. All worked out well. Part 2 now loaded .
Steve.
great bit of kit Steve 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Cheers Kev yes i hope it will save a lot of aching limbs. Just watching your cylinder radiusing on your channel. Catch you latyer.
Steve.
Looks great, Steve. It'll be nice to have to do some service on vehicles. I'm still hoping I can find room to have one here.
Thanks for the comment. It took a while to work out how it would fit. But we got there in the end.
Steve.
Hi Steve, looks absolutely great! Looking to get one myself in the future, can I ask a quick question? How far does the electrical box stick out over and above the foot plate area?
Hi Alex. The control box is at the rear of the leg with the hydaulics on the side. Ah sorry i see what you mean. Hang on i'll go measure it for you.
Right the footplate is 85mm wide at the rear & the control box is 110mm with the control buttons. I guess if room was tight you could move the buttons 2 of , to the side which would leave the cabinet at 95mm. Or fit the control panel on the other side of the column to to the hydraulics. Sort of on the back of it looking at the oil tank.
Hope this helps. Very good piece of equipment for the money. Wish i had a higher roof so i could have gone full height version. Never mind , working from a seat is better than being laid down.
Steve.😃
I’m famous, I featured on the famous anything garage!
I look forward to seeing my car……I mean your car on that lifter 😂 also use insulated tools on electrical equipment next time (jokes, we know it was all dead and no power)
Oy you its my car. Thanks for the help Rich. I am getting to be a weakling in my old age. Thanks for the comment. Maybe some day you'll get your channel back up & running.
Dad.
Hi……Thinking of buying one for a similar size shop, would you still recommend this lift?
Hi Derek. This was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Brilliant & very stable. The only problem i had was delivery would have been on a large truck that would not fit down my access road. So I had to go pick it up myself.
Steve.
@@Steviegtr52 Brilliant! Thanks Stevie, the install video was spot on, great job pal.
You will not regret it I am sure. Good luck on your adventures.

Did you build the garage and pour the concrete floor ?
How thick is it and what is its strength ?
Hi Steve. I built it all. Videos on here ruclips.net/video/AzxSJ_KewxQ/видео.html The concrete i mixed & laid as seen in the video. With a steel mat in it. Standard cement used. Around 6" but when drilling for the rawlbolts none of the holes went through to the crusher. It seems to be holding well. I did consider making some of the fixings the chemical resin type. If i do get any problems then that is what i will do.
