    Rebecca Thomas is a Mi’kmaw woman living in Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia). The daughter of a residential-school survivor, Thomas is outspoken when it comes to confronting stereotypes and educating people about cultural safety and integrity. She is Halifax’s current poet laureate. Her work focuses on the relationships between Canada’s Indigenous peoples and the federal government and the ways in which First Nations people are perceived publicly.
