I have had one of these for a year now. I love it. The best part is when you go from different resolutions in PS2 games and some PS1 games there is no delay. Also if a game or console supports 480p this thing is awesome, so make sure your OG Xbox is has 480p and 720p enabled.
Oh, good shout! I'll make sure to do that! Yes, I agree. I love there is no delay between resolutions on N64. Particularly with RE2. With the OSSC it would black out between almost every screen. This is clean between them all. Thanks for the tip, and commenting 😄👍🏻
I was thinking a bit loud myself, but have been criticised in the past for it being too low 😅 Thanks for the feedback, I'll have a closer look in the next video.
@@DReviewTing honestly, no music is also an option. Not telling you how to do your videos, but I know a ton of the vids in this retro enthusiast arena just let the video and content speak for itself. It is indeed very loud in this video though
I think they all function pretty much the same, but have different I/Os. Some to HDMI, others to SCART, VGA, or component. I've not had hands-on experience with any other, so can't answer fully.
Those gbsc converter are from different sellers. Basically, there are standard model including scart, rgbs rca and vga input; the other type is added S and CVBS singals. The strength is able to use adaptive motion tech with very cheap price. Very worthy to try.
I built a GBS-C this year and so far I can't say I love it. But, that is only because the website it hosts always crashes. Apparently the HDMI signal takes so much of the boards efforts that the website stops working. Well, if you can't change your settings then it makes it hard. You just reminded me that there is a mod that adds that small screen and you can adjust it all locally. I am now going to integrate that as well. Thanks!
GBSC has web interface where you can control every setting in detail. Dont know how it compares to OSSC but RT2X is nowhere close to it... Maybe look into it.
So the OSSC is superior? I'm confused, are there different versions (1.7)? I am in doubt as to which one to buy, Ossc or GBD. I don't see a huge difference in the price. (Aliexpress)
So, I'd say the best is the OSSC for versatility, but it does have a few drawbacks when it comes to resolution change, and price. I've found the cheaper models of OSSC don't have direct HDMI out. The 1.8 OSSC is about 150eur in my part of the world. I'm digging thus because it's simple, a good price, and does what I need. There are also the Retrotink models, but I haven't had any experience with those. But by all accounts, they are great.
This is definitely a great, budget friendly option compared to the OSSC or RetroTink, but not as versatile. Does a great job, though! Thanks for watching!
I use the Avermedia Live Gamer HD 2. I have to cycle through the resolutions to find the one that plays nicely with it, as it changes with each console I put through it.
There can't be a lot wrong with the burned out device. there has to be a voltage reducing stage at front of the board. That should be replaced/investigated. should be fixable.
I had a look, but it's all above my head. There is a 5v and a few othe voltage regulator after the initial fuse, but it's out of my depth I'm afraid. I do plan on having a look at some point though.
Thank you so much. I'm honestly not sure. I would imagine it would convert the signal atleast, but not sure how much it could upgrade the signal. Definitely worth investigating. Thank you, Again!
Excellent question! I use the Avermedia Live Gamer HD 2. I haven't had any issue with any upscaler running though it. Even the direct HDMI convertors, like the Kaico cables. I hope that helps. I didn't even think to mention that part. Thanks for watching!
@@DReviewTing thanks for the video and reply. I'm debating on getting a retrotink 5x pro...the 4k I think is overkill especially since I want to use it mainly for older systems. How do you think this compares to retrotink 5x?
Personally, I've never used the Retrotink 5x. But based on what I've seen it looks crazy! As is the price tag though haha. Seems worth it for what it's capable of, but this is a basic upscaler. No messing around. I found with the OSSC I was constantly changing settings depending on the game/console. If you have the means to get the 5x, I'd say go for it.
Thank you, everyone, for watching the new video! There is a problem with the audio, and I'm working on reuploading. Thank you all again!
I agree background music is annoying
I can't hear anything over the music.
Kill the background music or pick something less noisy and easy on ears, no electro trash. Good overview

Your video is good but the background music is very distracting...

@@DReviewTingthat being said, I'm glad I found your channel.. been needing an upscaler so badly but cannot justify spending $400.
Cheers, friend :)
@jazeenharal6013 that's a fair point. I appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
The FOREGROUND music is too much, thank you though
I can hear him fine over the music dunno what problem anyone has.
unwatchable with that music, reup without that horrible music
reup your comment without the horrible attitude
Hi what is the difference between ODV-GBS-C and GBS-C, ODV and orange and GBS-C and blue thanks for the answer

Very cool! Thanks for the info. I'm not that clued in at all 😅 I do love this, as a cheap alternative to a retrotink or OSSC

Yeah just ditch the music dude, i thought my speaker was broken just turned out it was music 😂
Yikes, either NO background music (nobody enjoys that) or lower it to barely audible level please, we WANT to pay attention to your narration.
That colour is gonna go well with my spicy orange GameCube! 😀
I love that! I didn't even notice hahaha!!! That's amazing!
Im using this with a Dell crt monitor. Monitor wouldn't accept interlaced or 240p signal so this is perfect.
That's awesome. I'm glad it's up and running. What console are you playing on your CRT?
Great video Graeme, I know folks have pointed out the background music 😅 But look at those views!
Cheers man. Fuming about the audio myself. But I'll have to take it as a knock on the chin, and learn.
@@DReviewTing Ayy, you're all good!
Need that music a bit louder otherwise great video
🤣 thank you!
just found your channel. loving this content! subscribed and looking forward to deep diving more into your stuff!
Welcome to the channel, my friend! I hope you enjoy the content. Please feel free to reach out at any time!
retrotink is compatible with pal m, and odv?

What capture card was used with the GBS in this video? My Avermedia one won't display a picture.

@@DReviewTing Or just sell it with the real description what happened. I think it will result in a decent price.,
Great Video! Can this machine work with output from a PAL VCR to convert to HDMI?
Thank you so much. I'm honestly not sure. I would imagine it would convert the signal atleast, but not sure how much it could upgrade the signal. Definitely worth investigating.
Thank you, Again!
Awesome! Did you connect everything via scart? And which consoles?
Aye, everything connected via scart. I just used the standard start cables. No fancy ones. I played N64, MegaDrive, xbox, and Gamecube.
what did you use to capture the video? elgato or something? does this upscaler play nice with those type devices?

It seems like this has problems with proper color space conversion
Aye, I'd say so. It's by no means perfect or on par with the OSSC or retrotink, but a fraction of their price.
Loving the music, it makes the video more exciting.
Thank you 😊 I think it is a bit loud too haha.
Thanks for watching!
Please reupload with lowe music volume level
With the gamecube it didnt hurt to try
What about 16:9?
Its too bad I can see jailbars on the videos.
Is that because you're watching in jail, through the bars?
sound video lad just what I needed
I greatly appreciate it. Thanks for checking us out.
@@DReviewTing no bother. wanted to connect a component switch with an xbox/ps2/gc and none of the other videos showed em all, handy out
no scanlines ?
At the resolution I was running, scan lines weren't very visible, if at all. So I left them off.
I can’t understand anything you’re saying with that obtrusive music
i like the music, thx for the video
Greatly appreciate it! Thank you for watching.
yeah idk maybe it is if it doesnt arrive broken like mine did
Nice musicvideo
😎👉👉
Stop that music
.... no.
Does it have hdmi in?
No, just scart and component inputs. HDMI out.
