If Bin Laden was a guitar, Norm would have found him Day One. That black 381 is gorgeous; cool.
Love how you rough handle the guitars and ding em up with your ring
Egad, he bangs that fuggin ring all the time. "Yes, I'd like to see something Norm hasn't handled."
Did you get that from Norm?
The 330/381 proto made its way back to norms again that’s funny. Too bad it’s like 15k
I was at 5.
That 330 is a prototype. It’s a test for what would become the 381 released in 1969
Yep.
Norm, just FYI, the profile of the Rickenbackers have is called a “German carve.” You’re welcome. 😃
Beautiful guitars at eye watering prices .....
Who are the people that bought these guitars in the late 60's and kept them in such good condition for all of these years? Did they not play them? I find it to be pretty strange that there are so many.
I have a couple of good guitars (Rickenbacker 320/6 string) 3/4 scale in PERFECT condition that I bought brand new back in about 1980 something.. I never play any of my guitars with rings, a watch, a bracelet and never, ever with any belt buckles on...that's a big no-no...It's still has that brand new smell when you open the original case up. It's just taking extra special care for the guitar(s) you love.
@@MegaSickcat I love that smell!
so now i understand...there are norms "rare" guitars....and there are "super-rare" guitars too......;-)
there seem to be plenty of people in california with more money than sense.....;-)
“This is a gorgeous example…” x999
I think that Zemaitis 12 was made for the inimitable Peter John 'Ollie' Halsall (of Patto, Tempest, Rutles, Timebox et al).
I just left a comment inquiring who PJH was, thanks for the answer.
Was also thinking maybe Polly Jean Harvey.
One of my favorite guitar players.
Worth more than my house I’m sure.
take off that damn ring norm! SCRATCH
Yeah...I Keep hearing it BANG against the guitars.
otherwise mint condintion......
Yeah hear that too. But it is round so no scratches I hope.
If he slides it then it wears marks.
He's ageing them
Wow, that 330/381 Rick was cool. And you're probably right about it being a one-off. Very nice piece of musical history.
I love that too - beautiful clean big box.
Maybe the original neck broke and they threw that neck on it.
@@songwriterjj6022 nearly impossible to break a Rick neck--you're thinking of Gibsons...!
I know Norm has sold and bought back that Rick throughout the years, it's featured in his book!
Gorgeous Rickenbackers!!Where do they find all these beauties? Wonder how they sound.
Well, they are made in California after all...
Norm, PLEASE wrap a band-aid around that ring. The sound of it bouncing off those guitars gives me the chills.
@ZIP-FIX GUITARS try grammarly. Cheers...
@ZIP-FIX GUITARS OK, you would prefer to purchase a guitar scratched by careless handling. You PRAT.
People are such douchebags these days. I am not pointing a finger at a single person. It just seems like an individual ego epidemic that has become more shitty then ever. Everybody is a legend in their own mind.
I noticed that too
Wait till you hear what people do with these guitars...they play them! Disturbing, isn't it?
Rare guitars equates to outrageously expensive. Only the rich shop there.
That L5 is stunning
I’ve always loved those zemitis single cut/LP style guitars.
Norm's favourite [only?] adjective is "Cool" !
Good golly I love that Rickenbacker 381 in Jetglow !....Also the 330/381 hybrid mystery model Rick...Thank You Norm !!
Thanks Norm for showing these awesome Guitars can you Play the Guitar that is Shown at 4:20? Thanks
This appears to be what Rickenbacker would call a 381S, a 381 without the fancy appointments (checkered binding, binding on the neck, binding on the slash F hole, crushed pearl triangular inlays, and both standard mono and Rick O Sound stereo output). Dimensionally, it looks identical to a 381 with its German carve.
What’s so rare about it?
Being the only example in existence qualifies something as "rare."
Lol....guitar porn !!!
Norman, God bless you, son. I had a plan to make a pilgrimage and get my dream Tele. That was set in stone until covid fuckered up the world. I don't need a dream Tele any more, but I'd sure like to meet you. I'll be in town next week for my daughter's wedding. Perhaps I'll stop in.
How much for the Rics?
And don't give me any of that, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" bullshit...
Norm would not be allowed to handle my guitars. That's for sure. Rookie
Anybody know what that last guitar costs ?
that L-5!!!
I still find it stupid guitars, Rickenbackers.. Like PacMan Guitars ! 😅🤣
Fireglow Rick, it is beauty.
*Fireglo (in Rickenbackerese).
@@duffbaker9554 Okay I am Finn hehe.
I may need to look a little deeper at why I am so irritated and perplexed by anyone who would give this video a thumbs down.
Geez, those were all awesome 🤩
What a super beautiful guitars.Dreamguitars for the most guitarplayers.
They make that Ric today. 381v69
Sorry folks, I’m going to say it “Guitar Porn”. Some of the most beautiful guitar’s I’ve ever seen! I would like to see Michael make these beautiful pieces of history sing! Thanks for the video Norman.
Norm is the man
Ricky's are expensive yet not that versatile, but the one trick pony is a HELL of a trick. Boy do I wish Rick had an Asian sub brand at about $500 that could do that Rick thing. I had a 360-12 - chased that Beatle dream for years; sold it in a year. If you ain't gonna play it, and it's sound wears thin right away in recordings then wtf? Still, I'd love a $500 325 Capri like John's any day. 🎸
The ring!!! Cringe!!!!
unbelievable the ring
That 330/381's much nicer than the 381. The standard scratch plate fits the rest of Roger's design so nicely, surely there was little need to add the square one even if it was the top of the range job.
the L5 for 9.5K $....thats ok......
That Zemaitis guitar reminds me of Mike Lipe RIP surely in rock and roll heaven with Tony ..
I have to stop watching this channel. I'm going "Yes, yes, another old guitar", but then that Rickenbacker is presented
As an advertisement for a business, this channel beats the hell out of a lot of amateurs in the same space.
Agreed.
If you're a music store that still has the traditional brick and mortar sales model, to not completely take advantage of RUclips and social media like these guys is leaving a ton of potential money and business on the table imho.
its a German style carved top
thanks Norm! love these lessons!!
That L5 is gorgeous!
thanks Norm!
Im pretty sure Norm owns the Holy Grail and a chunk of the true cross
And the arc of the covanent is in that warehouse somewhere.
@@joermnyc Don't be silly, he only has a couple guitars made from the arc and the true cross. They are pretty righteous tone woods, though.
This truly is a one of a kind!
Magnificent....
It's called a German Carve, Norm. Roger Rossmeisl did them.
I found five bucks in my couch. Not going to lie, I'm pretty stoked about it.
That Rick would be one of the first guitars I would run for the hills with
Greg Koch got a shack up in dem hills. Nobody gonna find him. Nobody gonna stop him. He gonna run for dem hills and he mean what he say!
Don’t forget James Honeyman-Scott!
Who's initials are PJH?
Pewter Facing?
