TOTALLY agree with Rope Trick and Bestow Curse, those are stupid strong! I had a super smart player that was a Wizard and he kept taking these type of OP spells haha
I had to make the bad guys aware of his “Rope trick trick” so they could dispel it (he was breaking encounters with freaking rope trick lol...
Edit: AND contingency... at all times lol

Disagree on Bestow Curse. Most of the options aren't all that, especially when you consider the lower level Bane and Hex. Add to this the fact that it's a touch spell, and the only thing it has going for it is the cool scaling options.

making me wana roll a non-summoner caster now... how about a similar video of "underrated wild shape choices" to help druids break out of "bear", "dire wolf", "giant eagle", "t-rex", and "elemental" as the go tos

I'm disappointed by your lack of videos, but I guess it explains why you don't have thousands of subscribers. Serious quality videos. Keep em coming!

About shocking grasp- it's actually for letting others escape. You can take care of yourself with the disengage action, the damage of shocking grasp is usually not significant.
Eldritch knight with war magic doing shocking grasp+weapon attack, damaging the bad guy and letting the wizard escape. Tasty.

Prismatic wall in front of a flying dragon. I'd like to see it make 7 consecutive dex saves against a collective 50d6 damage, restraint ending in petrification, and blindness ending in banishment.
Better yet, make it a sphere completely in front of it, so it passes through both sides, doubling the effect.

My favourite underrated spell is reverse gravity, combine that with a sphere shaped prismatic wall directly above your targets and you'll have all of them falling through every wall then taking damage from each one

Just be aware that Rope Trick creates an extra-dimensional space, so if you've got a bag of holding, don't climb in.

      I used this one time
      To hilarious effect
The party was mad at first
Because I was the one who carried our Bag of Holding, and they didn't know I was working with the DM to get another one
So when I hurled the bag into it, they flipped

"Placing a bag of holding inside an extradimensional space created by a Heward's handy haversack, portable hole, or similar item instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane."
Rope Trick is not an item. Neither is Demiplane. Nothing happens.

Mirage Arcane is my biggest fear as a DM. I can only imagine the pools of lava or acid everywhere and as deep as they want it to be.

Been great interacting with this channel. I've rolled for it on what videos to choose from for the week, and I always land on a JP7 vid at least once, I love rolling for it! Learning a lot about D&D, I hope to be in a campaign one day with a GM as well versed as you. Keep up the great work!

Very based choices. It was close with those 7th levels though. It almost sounded like you called Delayed Blast Fireball and Fire Storm good spells. 😋 I especially appreciate the Antipathy/Sympathy breakdown. It's downright broken if you know what creatures types you'll be fighting.

Shocking Graps seem like an amazing spell for a Arcane Trickster Rogue since pretty must allows you to get away without using your reaction or what ever the abilty you use to hide.

    • @Delderi

Yeah it sounds good.......but shocking grasp is an action. While rogue can take disengage action as a bonus action thanks to his cunning action feature.
And even if he couldn't disengage action does the same thing works 100% of a time.
Depends if you want to deal a bit of possible damage before you run away.
Shocking grasp is much better for Eldritch knight. You run into to your squishy friends who are getting attacked. And once you grasp him they can all run away.

Shocking grasp is taken by almost every wizard or sorcerer I have seen either in play or watching games online.

Yeah, 9th level spells is why you bring the Sorcerer along with all Font points pumped into extras spell slots and cast counterspell every round you're in combat with the big bad evil spell caster.

Your reading of Contingency is wrong, as well as of many people who makes it a super-powerful spell if they do not read it properly. It does not take effect BEFORE the condition is met, it takes effect AFTER.
"...Instead, it takes Effect when a certain circumstance occurs. You describe that circumstance when you cast the two Spells. For example, a contingency cast with Water Breathing might stipulate that Water Breathing comes into Effect when you are engulfed in water or a similar liquid.
The contingent spell takes Effect immediately AFTER the circumstance is met for the first time, whether or not you want it to, and then contingency ends.".
This means that conditions like "when I'm about to take fatal damage..." cannot trigger the contingency, because it is not a circumstance that happened: it is just in the future, and nobody can know if you are about to take fatal damage or not. Conditions like "As soon as I reach 10 HP or less, a dimensional door will teleport me to the last empty room that I've seen" are very clear and legitimate contingecies though. These could be a good thing, or a bad one if you end up in a room that is not empty anymore (a monster wondered into it after you left) or if you end up there alone at negative HP, without nobody to help you.
