Thank you so much for this video! I haven't been able to get this game working on my PC and after buying a Deck I was hoping to finally get to play it. I had the spinning camera on start up so got a bit discouraged, but now it's working close to perfect because of your tips!.
THANK YOU!! Following this guide worked great for me and allowed me to play the game. I also set Full screen and resolution to 1280 x 800 in the graphics settings.
Using Proton Experimental fixed this for me with the default controller configuration and allowed my previous cloud saves to work, so that would be the path I recommend
This game went on sale recently got it but your keybinds in the community tab aren’t there anymore if anyone has them please post them for me. I tried to make my own without seeing his and I just can’t get it just right please lmk 🙏
Hey, thanks for sharing your Layout. It was the only one who actually worked for me and resolved all the mentioned issues. Now all of a sudden I started seeing a cursor when moving the camera, and it always gets stuck on the border of the window, strongly limiting the movement of the camera. Did you encounter that at some point too?
I haven't seen the cursor issue, I would try toggling fullscreen in the options. If you are using proton compatibility, try changing the version. (Be aware native and proton use different save locations)
The layout/bindings work great, thank you! 👍 Do you use a special Proton version? On my Deck the game crashes everytime, when i try to enter the Brain Tumbler the second time.
This fixed my buttons and the spinning issue, however the camera is still rough. For me, the mouse is always on screen when I use the camera and once it reaches the edge of the screen it won’t spin anymore. Any tips? I’ve tried using the in game options but those are unusable for me thanks to other issues Something to add: my mouse isn’t the little hand icon in game, it’s the normal mouse
@@Uncle-Brody if even after applying the fixed layout didn't help you, then I suggest to do the following (had the same problem, helped me): Switch to desktop mode (in the power menu of steam deck). Find the file in your home folder (press CTRL+H to show hidden filed starting with a dot) ~/.local/share/Psychonauts/Profiles/Profile 1/Profile 1- Raz.ini Set following key bindings: LookUp_Alt=JoyRotY LookDown_Alt=JoyRotY LookLeft_Alt=JoyRotX LookRight_Alt=JoyRotX
@minimimic I waited forever to have the devs fix this. I haven't been able to play the steam version so I'm doing my playthrough on pcsx2 Playstation 2 emulator. Works perfect. Steam version is bugged. Have fun!
If I was looking for a true portable, I would go with the Ally as I constantly find the Deck too bulky to throw into a bag and take on my travels. But I'm one of those weirdos who got a Deck to encourage Linux gaming development and support.
@GreyCubeTube Fair enough. I was originally gonna get a Deck but the Ally is calling my name because 1) I find Windows to be user friendly 2) I have an Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 gaming laptop 3) I just want a PC handheld for small indie Steam games and emulation (especially for 3DS games)

Thanks for sharing your method. This video and your controller config were very smart and fast fixes to replay this awesome game.
Thank you so much - I was finally able to get it working without spinning! The keyboard bindings are genius! Runs pefect now

It has worked to me once and after saving game enter again It could not set up right ever.
Thanks this helped me with Half Life Opposing Force. Seems like old games get freaky and start to spin if you have any controller keys bound
Thank you so much! this helped me finally get the game working after the camera was spinning etc. I downloaded your template and everything works now
Bless you man this guide is gonna help me actually play this game again without wanting to vomit from the spinning 😭

@@GreyCubeTube Thank you so much! Fullscreen actually did the trick, not sure how that was deactivated! :)
when i use the menu or map the cursor seems to be inverted will using this fix it?
Can I do this with the gog version too? I haven’t tried any non steam games yet.
Me neither, so don't know, possibly you can add it as a non steam game to the library to get Steam controller mapping.
The layout/bindings work great, thank you! 👍
Do you use a special Proton version? On my Deck the game crashes everytime, when i try to enter the Brain Tumbler the second time.
I played through using the native version and didn't have any crashes. If you're using proton you may need to try switching to a specific version.
Using proton experimental worked for me and is way way simpler than this.
m8 thanks so much you got me back up and running again.

Seeing the mouse pointer happens if don't have fullscreen ticked in the games graphics options. So try ticking it and restart the game.
@@GreyCubeTube yup that did the trick
my camera seems to spin and pan no matter what, before I even hit any lock on buttons or anything
Yes because the game mixes up the inputs. So select my community layout and then restart the game.
Even after applying your layout im having the same problems with the spinning camera@@GreyCubeTube

What are your thoughts on that Steam Deck clone, the Asus ROG Ally?
If I was looking for a true portable, I would go with the Ally as I constantly find the Deck too bulky to throw into a bag and take on my travels.

The controls are so bad that I can't even get past the bunk. I really need help here.
I would watch a play through, as with old games sometimes it's not the controls, but instead expects you to solve problems in a very specific way.
@@GreyCubeTube It's fine. I decided to get a refund. I might get it again if I'm up for it, but it's a pain to get past.
Thanks a lot!!
thanks. exactly what I was looking for 🧠
I can't even move my character
thank you!
Yea i got this and the 2 game and had the same issues with the 1st one
This game has been giving me so many issues.
Would be nice if you just showed your lay out
Just open up the bindings, switch to community layouts and download it, you can then modify it to however you like.
@@GreyCubeTube When I search for the layout, its no longer appearing.
Sweet. Good game.
I'll just try pcsx2
And did it work?
