Or like WoW allied races we get 1 class from start like spiritborn a second class i unlocked as expansion get new content? If spiritborn is coming as we seen it will,it seem Blizzard is willing to make more "fantastical" creatures/classes so I think like others they saving Paladin for once we reach heaven and we get a holy/angelic inclined class. Cleric class invoking power from higher planes? Personally I would have loved a more gritty darker less comical looking Witch Doctor, hard now with spiritborn I guess. But as said above Necro still arrived in D3 even though Witch Doctor existed as summoner class. So maybe one day as a store class.
There's no paladin because ''rod'' fergusson is in charge. He absolutely does NOT care about what people want. He was never Diablo fan nor player. He ruined Gears of War and came to ruin Diablo as well.
The Paladin was disbanded officially because after Marshal Cartas was ultimately corrupted the church thought that all Paladins are tainted. The Crusaders are now the new Paladins for most of the untainted Paladins joined them while others joined the Guards of Westmarch.
That's alot of fancy lore stuff that most players don't care about. The real reason the business reason is, it is an expansion seller. There is 4 archetypes that are a staple to the Diablo brand "Mage", "Warrior", "Rogue" and "Light" (paladin/crusader). Can you imagine a Diablo release without the "Mage" and "Warrior" Archetypes? There would be a riot. So instead of giving players access to the "Light" archetype, they chose to be tone deaf and give us some homebrewed hybrid monk/druid class that literally no one asked for. No one gives crap about the lore, it's the playstyle and fantasy people care about.
@@loatheburger That wasn't directed at your channel, you just happened to popup on my feed and I vented. We know the real reason we don't have a "paladin" type the rest is just fluff. Keep doing you I was just projecting.

Not yet! But that’s a great idea - a nutshell video of what happened specifically in the games. I do want to put together a much longer ‘entire timeline of the Diablo series’ but that will be farther down the road
Somehow we need to get them to give us a Valkyrie class. A combination of Crusader/Paladin and Amazon. There's already so many cool shield and spear abilities in the various Diablo games.
I was kinda hoping they would have given us the witch doctor we actually should have gotten in D3. I think the spirit born is more of an updated monk. And I’m still hoping for a new paladin!
I doubt the Cathedral of light is going to have anything to do with our Hero, if you look as some of the Murals in the Fractured Peaks the Cathedral of Light and Zakarum actively fight and kill each other. I believe the differences between the two Religious groups are as different as Arian modalists and Trinitarians (Orthodox Christianity).
Same - there’s room for one. The Demonhunter used sentry turrets and cluster arrows which are more engineer/tinkerer focused. Maybe it can be a heavy gunner-type class with a 2 handed melee spec option? Just spitballing
“Instead” implies there was ever a chance of this releasing. Blizzard has been open and adamant about communicating it wasn’t gonna happen and they wanted something new and fresh. 😊
They didn't make paladins because they are a joke at class balancing and are scared to death to even attempt to make auras something 4 pallys can't party and stack to out perform any other group by a mile
Dude if we don’t get playable Knights Penitent before the end of VoH can we all please agree to riot? Also I’d like to see what the Angel Hadriel has been up to!
You can make up any excuse you want for why a paladin class STILL hasn't been introduced to D4. BUT you can use the same lore to introduce them as well. I really and honestly believe that Blizzard has been avoiding or removing any "religious" elements from their games and that is why D4 is STILL missing a Paladin or even a Cleric class. This is also the reason why D4 lacks a soul. It is an empty game. Souless.
Nice theory, but in my opinion wrong. 1. There were paladins during events of D2, when Westmarch already existed. 2. There are crusaders in D4. We met them in Hawezar. I think that next time we wil visit Khanduras and that's the place where we will get templar from order rebuilded by Kormac from D3. Why? 1. It is time to go back home, to Tristram. 2. I can't find any class other than rouge that fits to this region. 3. I know that templars orginaly are more connected with Westmarch, but > order was corupted and Kormac was going to fix/rebuild > Kormac was a part of team with Haedrig who fits the most for the new ruler of Khanduras. That make sense that those two would work together > We met templar for the first time in Tristram, in Horadim Catherdral. It would be good narration to use it as new place for order. > I think that this could be even idea of Tyrael, who was also a part of the team and creator of original Horardrims connected with Tristram. It make sense that while creating New Horardrim order this time he could think about kind of backup. In the end, he was the "new aspect of wisdom". - Last thing thing, is a question about divine power. I think that maybe High Haevens closed it gates, but it doesn't mean that somebody couldn't sneak out like Tyrael in the past to help humanity. Don't forget he was not the only one who was voting for save humanity. There was also archangel of hope - Auriel. And becouse of events of D1, D2 and D3 what's the better place to continue his legacy by his angelic friend?
Blizz introduced Spiritborn because holy class doesn't fit jugnle theme, but it fits next expanshion. BTW...we already seen on their art a figure with angelic wings standing on top and surrounded by other classes, so yeah, smth class like this probably will be in next expanshion. Anyway, thanks for the vid, it was interesting to listen!
@@phantombigboss8429 well there r vampire knight penitent in some areas ... i would like to see some break free from the control ... i don think it will have conflict with the lore
You... you haven't found Carthas yet in D4? That's your paladin. THE paladin from D2. He took Sankekur's body, infected by Mephisto's hatred to someplace, I forgot where exactly, to safeguard it with other paladins.
I do have a series in the backlog planned to talk about where the specific player characters are as opposed to speaking generally about their class/order
Paladins are no more, they were a split from Knights of Westmarch and Grand Marshall Elyas was their last leader. The Crusader should be the holy class in the second expansion of Diablo IV.
Why Spiritborn was chosen instead: DEI. Let's be real they could brought back a ton of classes people would've been far more excited for but the industry loves their DEI stuff. The class looks cool ,I'm not mad or being like "FUCK DEI I'M SKIPPING THIS EXPAC REEEEEEE" but my bet would be on that. Would've loved assassin, amazon or paladin back a lot more. I'm assuming they might do paladin when the high heavens are reopened for some reason.
Great point on the DEI. I do think Spiritborn is a badass class and fills in the Martial Artist subtype like the Monk did in D3 and Assassin in D2 - as a sword & board lover (Paladin in BG3 and FFXIV), I do miss it
The industry doesnt love DEI. Microsoft just canned their DEI team after buying all the studios they did and many companies will follow suit. Chinese companies have already told them off. Sweetbabyinc doesnt represent industry as a whole.
@@notyaboi2781 They got rid of 1 DEI team and one studio/company doing that doesn't mean "The industry doesn't love DEI" and it also doesn't mean DEI won't be a problem for a bit longer. People have started pushing back recently but games are long to make and these DEI consultants are often hired due to the funding devs/publishers get from certain governments. These funds come with strings attached like having to hire DEI consultants. Also with the shit Blizzard got in like 3 years ago they've been pushing more DEI stuff to gain moral points back. As for the Chinese companies, they know most of their revenue is from China/Asia, they know what sells there and it's not diversity and inclusivity lol As for another thing you said "Sweetbabyinc doesn't represent the industry as a whole": Guess what, Microsoft and the devs of Black Myth Wukong don't represent the whole industry either. I think the major pushback from gamers might make DEI disappear but for now let's not act like that fight is won already.
Why no paladins? Because paladin dont live in jungle? New class is: witch doctor... Or no, new class is spiritborn. But spiritborn=witch doctor and witch doctor=spiritborn, but i dont lost time with this bad game. Its only fun for me how blizz try save D4. :)
Blizzard remade a beautiful game with d4 off the backbone of the OG.... but their creative teams are complete garbage and cant hold up the pace. Welcome to 2024. This is the new way of the world.
Well, Angels we will never have. They are basically gods. Look at Inarius, he created the whole world alongside Lilith. It would completely go against lore to allow thousands of players to be Angels. If there were thousands of Angels walking around Sanctuary, there would be no demons. Literally. Even the three greater evils would be very careful. Now Valkyrie might be cool.
The crusaders didn't help the paladins they literally killed most of them because they were corrupt. Go read johanna's story from when the crusader was added in RoS. Speaking of Johanna, there is a quest to go get her armor for her squire (who then becomes the new johanna) in diablo 4. That means at the very least there is still one crusader around. I also feel like sayibh that the westmarch knights are paladins is a bit of a stretch. Even if they were, it would be a massively watered down version just like all of the Christianity branches today. I don't know if they were the last ones, but we also came across the paladin spirits inside the tomb of Sankekur. So d2 wasnt exactly the last time we saw them either. Even more so if we take your thoughts about the knights of westmarch being paladins.
Ill have to look into the Paladin piece as I thought the order that traveled west ended up settling as knight guards in Westmarch I made a video about Johanna in D4 here: ruclips.net/video/6NE3MNWuxuQ/видео.htmlsi=1ZHveDIjno8ZtCNK
Personally, I always found the paladin type classes boring in their game play and they were the least played characters in their games that I played. On another note, the developers have already said there would be no paladin class back around the time they were announcing the original D4 character types, so the disappointment about them not being in the Vessel of Hatred is strange to me. Obviously we all have different opinions and I am in the minority, but I'd rather them give us something new, refreshing, and interesting than rehash a class type that has already been done multiple times.
We don’t have a Crusader. We don’t have a Paladin. We don’t have a Templar. Bro we don’t even have a KNIGHT. IN A FANTASY GAME! Just a bunch of unwashed weirdos.
I was a Auradin main in D2. And I was always welcome in every group. I miss that play style in both D3 and D4. Crusaders were weak sauce in comparison.
Spiritborn ... another mix other classes :/ this is just sad! stuffed with spectacular animations, it will slightly outshine the other characters, a bad idea in my opinion... I feel like everyone will be spiritborn soon :D
Yeah agreed - alot of streamers who played it recently stated it’s the most polished class. We haven’t heard much about what changes we’re going to see to the other classes come Vessel of Hatred - curious to see what they come up with
The reason we wont get a paladin has to do probably with DEI influence. Paladin concept art was related with the christian faith. Holy shield was ispired by the crusades. Another reason might be something that they answered a few days ago. They said they wanted to do something new so they would not be limited by the guidlines of an archetype. In my oppinion this is a pr explenation and behind their decision is the fact that the new expansion at its core has the new class and they didnt want to risk making a paladin, failing to deliver and get any sort of backlash to their sales.
I don't want to see the Crusader ever again. Felt like they spent half of Act 5 in D3 downplaying the Paladin (almost outright calling them inferior) to hype up the Crusader as a super paladin. It was a decent attempt, but it wasn't as fun to play as D2 Paladins were. With the D2 Paladin lore being updated in D4, they have an opportunity to bring them back proper - maybe having someone finding D2 Paladin's tomb, and taking up his name.
Yeah I agree with you. If it's any consolation, the crusader NPCs in Diablo 4 are beat down and weak. Rod Ferguson also mentioned people wanting the Paladin specifically by name so hopefully they'll reincorporate them somehow. Either way, it makes alot of sense for a holy class to come fight against Mephisto following the events of VOH
very simple....this is a marketing move...They will give paladin when they feel that game is not making enough money at the market after being destroyed by POE2 ;)
I don't realy care that much of an ''holy'' class , more so i would love sword and board class. knight , warrior , royal guard .. name is irrelevant realy. but the true thorn class with some serious healing/mitigation would be cool and fresh for group play, having tank / mob controller , or trash killer but durable to tank bosses.
Yes me too! I always go sword + board in RPGs - whether that’s FFXIV, BG3, Elden Ring, Last Epoch, WoW, etc. Love the weight of attacks and especially shield-slam type abilities
Knights Penitent, they’re gritty, heavy, sword/spear and shield. A dash of light wielding thrown in, that’s the go man. Doesn’t need hammers flying around, although maybe just a few…

Blood knight from Immortal has been hinted to maybe appear as folk asked for it D4.
I really dislike that guy
if there's no paladin i hope theyre reconsidering making a Inquisitor class
That would be sweet. Like a combination of a demon hunter and paladin would be pretty epic.
Introduced to crush the Triune cult under the iron boot of the light!
The Paladin was disbanded officially because after Marshal Cartas was ultimately corrupted the church thought that all Paladins are tainted. The Crusaders are now the new Paladins for most of the untainted Paladins joined them while others joined the Guards of Westmarch.
Thanks for the context!
@@loatheburger you're welcome :) by the way Marshal Cartas was the Paladin in Diablo 2
There could be wandering paladins or knights, or fallen angels like Tyrael who have fallen but aren't evil per se.
@@Tletna This could be very well the case too.
Love your Sammy's cameo!!
Thanks! Finn says hello
This entire channel is lore based - YOU dont give a crap about the lore.
@@loatheburger That wasn't directed at your channel, you just happened to popup on my feed and I vented. We know the real reason we don't have a "paladin" type the rest is just fluff. Keep doing you I was just projecting.
@@Alacod19fair enough. Yeah a Light archetype is sorely missing - most likely due to DEI decisions they chose Spiritborn. I dont mind if they do something new in the future - but that archetype is sorely missing, especially when you have a dark class like Necro in the game
Hello sir, I wondered if you had any intro to the lore videos for Diablo? I love the way you break down the series, but know precious little about what you speak of.
Thank you sir! Glad you’re enjoying the content. Can you expand on what you mean?
@@loatheburger absolutely, your videos seem to be deep dives into specific aspects, do you have a starting point for someone who knows absolutely nothing about Diablo lore?
Not yet! But that’s a great idea - a nutshell video of what happened specifically in the games. I do want to put together a much longer ‘entire timeline of the Diablo series’ but that will be farther down the road
@@loatheburger absolutely, you have a great way of explaining things, that I personally think would make for a fantastic getting started video.
I will release a Diablo Nutshell/Getting Started video prior to VOH’s release :). Thanks for the suggestion
really i am shocked that still no holy based class in game . i mean we will have methisto in expansion propably diablo too and still no light class?
Somehow we need to get them to give us a Valkyrie class. A combination of Crusader/Paladin and Amazon. There's already so many cool shield and spear abilities in the various Diablo games.
I'm happy that they did something different...
We need a class that'd be similar to Paladin/Crusader the same way Spiritborn is similar to Monk.
The way you pronounce Travincal should be illegal but then again it could also be the correct way.
🤣 oh trust me the comments let me know. It’s apparently ‘Tra-vin-call’
I was kinda hoping they would have given us the witch doctor we actually should have gotten in D3. I think the spirit born is more of an updated monk. And I’m still hoping for a new paladin!
Yes Witch Doctor and Monk were tied for my favorite classes in Diablo 3. I miss my Fetish Sycophants
Wouldn't mind the holy knight archetype filled by a Templar class as we've played Paladin and Crusader already. But I do love me Pallys.
I'm hoping for a gadgets focused class
Same - there’s room for one. The Demonhunter used sentry turrets and cluster arrows which are more engineer/tinkerer focused. Maybe it can be a heavy gunner-type class with a 2 handed melee spec option? Just spitballing
My dumb brain thought of a class carrying around an iPad and go pro when i read your comment.
rogue has gadgets.
....Rogue?
“Instead” implies there was ever a chance of this releasing. Blizzard has been open and adamant about communicating it wasn’t gonna happen and they wanted something new and fresh. 😊
I just want a sword and board class 🥲
I always rolled paladin in d1
@@Csnooblet I do the same in D2. lol
same lol
There was a paladin in d1? Thought it was warrior rogue sorcerer monk
I think you are confusing your Diablos
Paladin wasn't introduced until Diablo 2
Also notice how paladin is considered “Holy” and DEI is allergic too all those things.
Yeah you aren’t wrong - but at the same time you can say the whole world of Diablo isn’t DEI since the entire concept is sacrilegious
People just want the class but not aware of the lore. I’m happy with the direction they’re going. Fresh story to tell and new enemies to face.
Same, I'm glad they made a new class. I want somthing new rather than somthing we had before.
Drink that blizzard Kool aid
I am glad they made a new class but I was expecting and wanting a shield bearer holy class tbh, but I liked spiritborn so far no complaining here
Thank you Blizzard for the free advertisement to play POE and POE2 over your garbage overpriced dlc.
I personally want holy class paladin/priest/crusader.
D4 (being Live Service) should make two classes per expansion.
They didn't make paladins because they are a joke at class balancing and are scared to death to even attempt to make auras something 4 pallys can't party and stack to out perform any other group by a mile
How do you look at the 3D models like that? 2:12
They were in the Season 5 reveal stream that Blizzard did a few weeks back prior to S5 PTR
3. I know that templars orginaly are more connected with Westmarch, but
> order was corupted and Kormac was going to fix/rebuild
> Kormac was a part of team with Haedrig who fits the most for the new ruler of Khanduras. That make sense that those two would work together
> We met templar for the first time in Tristram, in Horadim Catherdral.
Give us every character from diablo 1,2,3, and DI
They aren’t down with anything holy. Period.
Meanwhile I'm blasting Crusader in D3
This lore is dead to the new blizzard. New blizzard only cares about DEI making a game for a modern audience.
I think a paladin-like class will get it's own expansion. Maybe next year.
Make Paladins great again !
HOPE
I prefer a bloodknight/knight penintent ... tap in to the light side or corruption xD
@@johngohchuanheng3417 I would love the Blood Knight to be added but Blizzard is sleeping.
@@phantombigboss8429 well there r vampire knight penitent in some areas ... i would like to see some break free from the control ... i don think it will have conflict with the lore
Where is the Paladin? A question I ask myself in varying situations, more and more these days.
I hope kormac is still alive and he’ll rise as our holy knight for d4
In lore paladin became defunct after the events of Diablo 2
I mean Blizzard literally gave us the most shallow class options since Diablo 1
You... you haven't found Carthas yet in D4? That's your paladin. THE paladin from D2. He took Sankekur's body, infected by Mephisto's hatred to someplace, I forgot where exactly, to safeguard it with other paladins.
I do have a series in the backlog planned to talk about where the specific player characters are as opposed to speaking generally about their class/order
Who knows? Maybe in the next 40usd expansion.
I didn't really like the crusader. It felt like a watered down paladin. Paladin is way cooler IMO
This has woke DEI written all over it. Paladin class should’ve been first priority and this is just pure laziness.
Instead we have unwashed murder vagrant 1-6. Take your pick.
You should know by now where the paladin is....behind another 80$ paywall 🤣🤣
Paladins are no more, they were a split from Knights of Westmarch and Grand Marshall Elyas was their last leader.
The Crusader should be the holy class in the second expansion of Diablo IV.
Fun fact - the Hungarian word "akarat" means "will" in English. A cheeky name choice from Blizzard for a Buddha-like religious leader :)
That is a fun fact! Thanks for sharing
As for the Chinese companies, they know most of their revenue is from China/Asia, they know what sells there and it's not diversity and inclusivity lol
As for another thing you said "Sweetbabyinc doesn't represent the industry as a whole": Guess what, Microsoft and the devs of Black Myth Wukong don't represent the whole industry either.
I think the major pushback from gamers might make DEI disappear but for now let's not act like that fight is won already.
WOKE DEI = dead pala 😒
He's in the "30$ for one character class DLC" prison.
I want to play as a demon
Spiritborn rocks
Your Dog 🐕 is a holy class. 🤍
Haha! Finn says hello 🐻❄️
Thx Subscription is your reward! Non nobis Domine, Non Nobis, Sed nomini tuo da Gloriam🙏🏻
Thanks brother! I believe you are special subscriber number 666 😈
Paladin should be in this game a paladin is made for killing demons.
Why no Paladin? Becasue Blizzard is dumb.
Why no paladins? Because paladin dont live in jungle? New class is: witch doctor... Or no, new class is spiritborn. But spiritborn=witch doctor and witch doctor=spiritborn, but i dont lost time with this bad game. Its only fun for me how blizz try save D4. :)
Paladin is the OG demon slayer! Wtf Blizzard 🤯🤯
Blizzard remade a beautiful game with d4 off the backbone of the OG.... but their creative teams are complete garbage and cant hold up the pace. Welcome to 2024. This is the new way of the world.
Baby Finn 🥰
instead of the old classes like paladin i would want an angel or a valkyire with holy magic and amazing gameplay
1:19 thats not how you say Travincal lol
Im trash at pronunciations- ‘Archangel Lazareth’
Ill have to look into the Paladin piece as I thought the order that traveled west ended up settling as knight guards in Westmarch
I made a video about Johanna in D4 here:
ruclips.net/video/6NE3MNWuxuQ/видео.htmlsi=1ZHveDIjno8ZtCNK
Paladin or crusader will be next...thy need set good skill for character..want defreen skill frm other hero
whats next? they add a whole new class named Guardian
Spirit born sounds lame af...
i want my warrior of the light in diablo dammit
I just want the witch dr
We haven’t heard much about what changes we’re going to see to the other classes come Vessel of Hatred - curious to see what they come up with
DEI is the reason
Forget the paladin/crusader, I WANT THAT DOG!
That's why i am not interested in Diablo 4. My main character was a paladin during Diablo 2
