I played the prison guard that grabbed the guard from behind after his lip was bitten. Super fun movie to work on. Wes Craven was super cool. I came over to Shocker after filming Nightmare on Elm St 5 in Culver City
Mitch Pileggi was very well suited for the role as Horace Pinker. Incredibly convincing, and had a great screen presence - very menacing, nasty & mean, as the character was meant to be. Thanks for a great portrayal of Pinker, Mitch - and thank you Wes Craven for the memories. Your creations will live on, and keep scaring audiences!
I hate how Mitch acts like they'd be doing him a favor to even be a dead body in a remake. You were fkin HORACE PINKER man! You would be an automatic addition!
That was a great interview! You could tell Mitch was having a blast playing Horace Pinker. Shocker was a fun movie, especially jumping from show to show at the end.
There is an oversight on this movie I can only describe as complete. The scene in the lake wh where Jonathan is looking for the necklace from Allison and she comes to him in the water to this day still vividly just sticks in my mind as one of the most peaceful and eerie and transcendent moments in cinema. RIP Wes Craven truly a masterpiece and a master craftsman and a visionary.
I'm in L.A., and I attended one of the Monsterpalooza Festivals in Pasadena, CA, and Mitch was one of the people there signing autographs and taking photos with fans! When I got up to the table for a signed 8 x10, I of course told him how much I love his work, and that "his portrayal of "Horace Pinker" was one of THE best and scariest psychopaths, EVER on screen! He actually blushed, said. "Thank you SO much, my friend-great meeting you!" He shook my hand and signed my photo. Definitely one of nicest, sweetest guys in real life, and he couldn't have been any MORE opposite than Horace Pinker was! VERY cool!
Really underrated 80s horror performance. I loved this movie and character when I was a kid. I even have a similar limp now thanks to an arthritic hip and I think about Horace often.
I remember seeing this in the theatre and it was a lot of fun to watch on the big screen. It’s a shame we never got any sequels because Pinker in a lot of ways was more vicious than Freddy in his first couple of movies. With all the horror reboots in the past 15 or so years I’m surprised nobody tried again with Shocker. Hopefully they will some day.
Mitch Pileggi is to Shocker what Anthony Perkins is to Psycho....meaning that he played his part so well that no one else could recreate that magic. It's so sad we never got to see another Shocker movie. Maybe it was for the best.
When I first saw this movie I loved it,I watched some year's later and still like it,Horus Pinker is the man,I hope they make an part 2,I would love to see it.big Q.
I always wanted to see a Horace Pinker-Freddy Krueger-Ash Williams-Chip Douglas crossover set in the 90s. Freddy and Pinker teaming up terrorizing the hell out of people on Elm Street and through every TV in Springwood. Ash and Chip have to stop them of course, even though Ash loathes Chip's unwanted friendship. Ash has his knowledge of the supernatural and Chip with his knowledge of TV and cables. I think it would be interesting to see, especially if it was set in the 90s era.
Same, specializing in vintage sets. The '50s set with the early 17" rectangular 70°-deflection CRT strapped onto the chassis from the prison cell scene looks like Motorola from that camera angle. Half-wave doubler low-voltage power supply and about 12kV flyback anode supply.
Not a 17" B/W set from 1950-51,@@frankreiserm.s.8039typical anode voltage was under 15kV. Even the 19" Dumont RA109 circa 1950 (two 1X2 rectifiers in doubler configuration) had only 15kV, with a pair of 6BG6G horizontal output tubes and 6W4 damper tubes in parallel. Even the earliest color sets circa 1954-55 ran shunt-regulated 20kV (15GP22) to 24kV (21AXP22) anode voltage. The '80s & '90s (direct-view or liquid-cooled projection) tubes operated in the 27 to 30kV range. The first-ever 12" B/W magnetically-deflected CRT, 12AP4 from 1939, operated at 7.5kVDC, from a 6,000VAC 60Hz supply, 2V3 half-wave rectifier, and 0.03uF filter capacitor. RCA model TRK12, to be exact.
@@JHoliday330 You sure know a lot of CRT knowledge. Are you an electrical engineer? I took out a PCB with the flyback on it for a large CRT early 1990s TV to my friends appartment. I plugged in the PCB and grabbed the anode. Then, one by one, my friends grabbed my hand, forming a human high voltage chain. Each time someone would grab a hand, they would feel a spark. One of my favorite high voltage/high current demonstrations is juicing up Lyden jars with my 500kV Van de Graaff generator. The largest Lyden jar that I built stands over four feet tall and one and a half feet in diameter, consisting of five buckets inserted into each other as the capacitor dialectic and aluminum foil as the plates. I used a trailer hitch as one electrode, and a high voltage (14kV) cable attached to a copper plate the size of a clothes iron as the other electrode. It took six minutes to fill that jar off of the 500 kV Van de Graaff generator. After it broke down, it hissed for six days in my shop. I dared not touch it to move it for ten days even though it had discharged. I did not want to die in my 20s. I donated a 3 million volt Tesla Coil that stands 6 feet tall to my high school physics department because I, again, liked my life. It turned out that the physics teacher stole it. Are you a high voltage junkie like me?
More of a general fascination with the evolution of technology than just HV fascination,@@frankreiserm.s.8039Started with a 1920s radio my grandparents found in one of their real estate investments. Before that, I was mainly fascinated with mobile / portable technology & sketching concept devices. Some other relatives were turning an old bus into a motorhome in the early '70s, and I was inspired by that project. I also found it odd that most color television screens were round and 21" was such a common size. Some of the most fascinating questions about that are related to the CRT, though. The 22EP22 tube (Westinghouse circa 1957) was a fascinating step.
As a big Craven fan I kind of enjoy this movie for what it is. However he soooo overdid ideas wise! Traveling through electricity, psychic connections, nighmares from the future, tv demon, body possesing, ghost, invading the tv channels! Jesus! :D It was so over the place, and over the top, it couldn't become a new Nightmare on Elm Street . It's really good to see how Mitch enjoyed working on the movie, he did a good job as Pinker.
Imagine of Horace Pinker got his hands on the DeLorean time machine while at the same time have his hands on the mother box he can alter and control time and space
shoul of at least made a second one Horace Pinker is just one of those villains that you just can't get enough of, I think it's too late now but around 94 would have been a good time to do it, and I think that it would have had a good reception if it was done right
I like "Shocker" better than the original "A Nightmare On Elm Street". I liked Horace Pinker better than Freddy eventually became. The Freddy films went downhill while Horace still remains dark, violent, scary, and intimidating. Shocker might've gotten a bad rap review wise, but I think it's a very awesome Horror film. It's weird, crazy, suspenseful, and creative. The effects range from cheesy fake looking to mindblowing.

Saw it just recently, had hard time following what the hell was going on half the time. I thought it started off pretty good but just got freaking nuts during the second half.
Completely underrated gem with a great actor. The little girl was awesome! Great Hollywood story on how SHE developed the limp! 😂 I wonder what she's up to now. Shit. She's gotta be in her 40s!
I have not watched it yet, but plan to. Your portrayal of Skinner is so much like supervisors I've had at Lockheed & ITT Barton Instruments from past workplaces.
He could play the detective! The kids father. Or maybe the coach. If he plays someone who gets possessed, he can kinda play Pinker again for a scene or two.
I played the prison guard that grabbed the guard from behind after his lip was bitten. Super fun movie to work on. Wes Craven was super cool. I came over to Shocker after filming Nightmare on Elm St 5 in Culver City
U give him mouth to mouth, this guys’ an animal!!!!
😂 thats awesome...Shocker is so underrated
That’s awesome Shocker is one of my favorites. It’s easily in my top 3 Wes Craven films alongside A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream.
I’m the guy who got his lip bitten off! Small world lol. May I ask why you grabbed my ass and balls when you grabbed me?
That scene always makes me wince. Flawed movie, but such a great concept and villain.

Purposely flawed but fun 80s film. A little heavy on special effects. Mitch was an amazing, energetic actor.
Such a unknown gem of a film. Wicked subtle messages in it too. Mitch Pileggi did awesome as Horace Pinker. Classic.
Mitch Pileggi is a legend! Have watched this movie so many times when I was young
Im surprised they never did a sequel to this movie. Whole different story but with the same Pinker.
yes indeed it was legendary. still one of the best films in my list. might sound silly
Underrated Wes Craven film. My favorite after Scream and A nightmare on elm street

The Devil?? I thought it was Mick Jagger's lips

Such a great actor. He really was Horace Pinker, captured the remorseless evil and malice so well....
Underrated movie.
Tony Griego Pinker voice scares me
The bit when the plug is pulled to turn the tv off and he smashed into 😂😂😂😂😂
Needed a louder implosion noise. The actual acoustic shockwave of a 19" CRT imploding resembles an M-80, loud enough to set off car alarms.
He’s a great actor.
Nice to see these clips! I animated alot of the effects ( electricity) for these scenes, working for Available Light. Good times!

His best scene was the electric chair speech. " You fucking insect ".
A really good movie
It is a grate move I believe it is in my top 10
Pileggi was a powerful character in the X-Files. In Shocker, he successfully portrays Pinker as a despicable villain, and his defeat is satisfying.
underrated OVER THE TOP 80s horror movie, so much wackiness its fantastic!
If they ever do remake this movie, the only thing I want is a Dudes of Wrath reunion!

It's on Blu-ray now.
How is it that Mitch Pileggi somehow look younger with a beard? Dude's a superhuman, my goodness!
