    Gutted the Seasiders didn't make the playoffs. But you're quite right losing in the playoff final is even more heartbreaking. I haven't got over Blackpool beating us nearly 14 years ago. That was a long drive back to Wales from Wembley. Like you I sometimes wish I'd never gone to a football match, I'd have had a lot less depressing Saturday nights. Take care mate, as I always say at this time of the season, there's always next year. Cardiff Paul.

    How can you leave the opposition's top scorer unmarked 5 yards out in the centre of the goal to simply head the cross in. To my mind the main fault lies with Critch. Mystifying that the young striker didn't come on. The commentators irritatingly wrote off our chances as soon as Oxford and Barnsley scored, yet there was always the chance that one goal would change everything until we capitulated. I'm expecting Critch to resign.

I know this sounds counter intuitive but we must stick with both Simon and Critch - we need stabling after the last season with 3 coaches. We did throw this game away but we are a good club, we have a proud history and we will rebuild - keep the faith Lee and once you’ve had a break, looking forward to your coverage next season where we will do it all again. My Millwall were plummuring to league one, but our manager Harris turned it around. I remember when Man. City were in 3rd tier, but luckily beat Gills in play-offs then up and up. Next season will be much like the last 10 seasons and more……loan players,loan players and more loan players with a sprinkling of kids signed for cheap. Which will translate into the manager saying the same thing after each game…..we are still working on our best line up as we enter January 2025! It will also be more of the same off the field…..A training ground that ends up taking longer than the Pyramids to get built(if it ever does) and an East Stand so temporary they will end up keeping it for another 10 years. Doesn’t this sound and feel like life was under the Oystons?! I do wonder whether the ideal position for Blackpool is League One and nothing higher and that is the sweet spot for whoever the owner is because in order to get anywhere in football you need to invest and spend and this isn’t happening. One for the conspiracy theorists but perhaps the owners target of missing out on the playoffs thus keeping the club in L1 was indeed the target. These days the difference between conspiracy and truth is 6 months anyway. It wouldn’t surprise me. In other words the club just ticks over for the few to make a fortune and that’s it whilst constantly feeding the fans false hope and promises.

    • @LeeCharlesTV
      @LeeCharlesTV  5 месяцев назад +1

      It feels very much the same with little or no investment in the team til Belokon came in. He needs to deliver on the stand and the training ground or people will walk away in droves and for me he needs a Belokon

    • @Gary-1203
      @Gary-1203 5 месяцев назад +2

      There really is no advancing investment. It is purely a treading water investment. It is sad to see but that must be for a reason. I think the vast majority of us can see that if a push to the Championship was the desire of the ownership, they would have made their plans clear by now. This club is being steered in a circle and is going nowhere. Plans and pretty pictures are great but let’s see the owner put a fork in the ground because ideas and plans are just that….ideas and plans.

      Yes at the moment it's still just plans and pretty pictures the fans are getting increasingly restless because since SS said words to the effect that [because of the rising costs involved in building the training ground and the East Stand the funds were limited for team strengthening] we have gone backwards and it's of no surprise really as the proof is on the pitch, we simply aren't good enough.

    • @LeeCharlesTV

    • @TheQ-Continuum
      @TheQ-Continuum 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@LeeCharlesTV Wigan are in a similar position. With an eight point deduction and a transfer embargo, Latics had to make do with the youth academy and loan players. The rump of this squad will leave during the Summer and we have to rebuild. However, with the transfer embargo lifted, Latics will be able buy players to strengthen the squad. It is no easy road, many other clubs (including Portsmouth) are in the same position:

    • @LeeCharlesTV
      @LeeCharlesTV  5 месяцев назад

      Yes it's been horrible seeing what was going on at Wigan. The EFL are a joke they allow these chancers to buy football clubs and then happily fine, hand points deductions out because the people they saw as 'fit and proper' and that they allowed to take over are 'wrong uns'

    There's going to be a large churn in personnel over the summer. I doubt Grimshaw, Gabriel, Marv, Virtue, Beesley, and Lavery will play for us again, plus Dembele of course. We may struggle to keep Morgan, but at least have Finnigan, Apter, and maybe Sassi plus Emmerson to come in. Lots of changes to come, which need to happen. Blackpool looked like a side who'd been told results were against them. You started well enough, getting the goal, but then sat a bit too deep. 2nd half though...I can recall a Reading match back in '89. Last day away at Chesterfield, and Chesterfield had to win to stay up, and hope other results went their way. They kept their part of the bargain, leading 2-0 at half time, but someone told them that the others scores weren't panning out, and Reading beat a deflated team 4-2. It looked similar on Saturday.

      @@LeeCharlesTV It was looking bleak. The guy had folded two other clubs already, and a whistleblower from inside the club had leaked that asset stripping and liquidation was his aim. He also said that specifically named players were being sold without the knowledge of the football staff, which was confirmed and very much put them on the side of the fans. The owner then tried to sell the training ground to Wycombe's owner, specifically arranged so the money would go to him rather than the club, but luckily a planning permission clause scuppered that. A new ownership group has come in, and people have found funds being put in place in such a way to prevent the owner running away with the money. He is facing very serious fraud and embezzlement accusations back in China, accused of stealing hundreds of millions, plus money laundering changes. There have been suggestions that Reading were just a money laundering front, sacking all of the football people and just using agents to buy unsuitable players for high fees, on high salaries, taking cuts from all. Nothing made any sense.
      Anyway, I always enjoyed my trips to Blackpool, although it helped that my three visits ended in 4-2, 4-0 and 2-0 wins. I really liked the place before the rebuild. I will next be up that way in August for the Rebellion Festival, but won't get along to the ground unless Blackpool play on the Friday night.

    Surprised about the levels of negativity. We where relegated last season this was a rebuild with critchley coming back. Sadler is worth something in the region of 300 to 500 million hes probably sunk 10% of that into the club to sort out debts a broken stadium and investing in a new training ground and stadium. Hes invested in the playing staff and community. This is a passion project for him certainly not a money making scheme. We would be no where with out his investment. Hes bank rolling the club at a loss every year. I think the players and manager I've done a good job this year and I'm greatful the clubs in the hands in a owner who cares about the area. Crazy levels of negativity on here. I remember the fans having to to raise money to buy a player in 1992/93. Surley things have never been better!

And yes performances, losses, promotions, ups and downs over the years, matter very much! The sorrow of 1951 and the absolute joy of 1953! Right from my school days and that’s over seventy years ago. Through the times of, Harry Johnston, Stan Matthews, ( The greatest footballer of his era) Stan Mortensen, Jimmy Armfield, Alan Ball, I remember when football teams weren’t 20 big companies who bought the elite employees and paid them exorbitant amounts to succeed. Would you really like the Saudis to come in with a billion dollars and take over Blackpool? Sure they would be a Premier league team, Maybe European. But would they still be Blackpool? They will get back to the Second division , (Championship, em! if you like) within a couple of years and, I believe that is the best league in the world. I’ve known the very highs and the very lows and, saw most of those blokes actually play. You don’t have anything to explain to me. Regards Stu.

      Hi Stu
      I never saw those great days. My days have mostly been disappointment, endless years of scrattimg around in the 3rd and 4th division. The good times for me started in 2000 - 2010 and the best time was when Valeri Belokon came in and said I'll get you in the Premier League in 5 yesrs'
      No I've never said that I would want Saudi owners but I'd love another Valeri (someone with ambition desire passion and the dream) to come in and help push the football forward if SS can't afford to

    Lads bottled it soon as seemed to realise results was going the wrong way. Not mentally strong enough. Some crap ref calls BUT still, play the full 90 like we still in it and come full time we would have been through, maybe not gone up but hey ho.
