I know it’s easier said than done, but it looks like Mourinho’s sacking was due to his lack of changing along with the new signings and year. He couldn’t bring himself to change his management style and it started bringing problems Guardiola’s problem was that he micromanaged. He’s always on his players shoulders, telling them what to do and when it came down to making decisions on their own, they would collapse Complaints from Mourinho’s players: Too egotistical and brought a toxic environment Complaints from Guardiola’s players: He micromanaged too much and didn’t lead/motivate them
@@leonardomichua No. Guardiola's problem was Barca simply had too much success too early, so it was difficult for the players to get motivated for another go around. Guardiola recognized this, and in an attempt to stem the tide of lacklustre, lackadaiscal performance from players that had already won everything there was to win in club football (plus International football, for the Spanish contingent), he began tinkering with the formation excessively. This ended up hastening the demise of that team. The strange 3-4-3 formation in big La Liga games, using Alves as an auxiliary midfielder, and buying Alexis Sanchez AND Fabregas when only one was needed, are prime examples of this

Those record braking teams and epically hyped classicos is what actually made me fall in love with football and Real Madrid. I remember vividly that "us against them" mentally was very real and extended even to the fans, with animosity. It was bad, yet amazing, cause you would truly feel that you were a fan to the point that being a Madridista or a Cule is part of your identity. It was amazing football, a football heritage in fact that should be heard by young kids of the future.
This was the era that brought me to football. I was a kid 10-11 years, all I heard from seniors was Barca, Messi, Barca and Messi, their treble. And the 5-0 humiliation. Every kid in my class was about Barca (Im from Moscow). And then I watched Real Madrid. And fell in love. They were loosers in recent years and I really have a soft spot for these teams. For the same reason I prefer Spurs over other PL teams. But Real Madrid were losers that won. A year and they're champions of Spains. A couple years more, they're champions of Europe. And then they went on to dominate for years. Right now they're in bad shape but you know they will be back at the top.
Lol yes. I relate as well. Granero’s line at the end of the video pretty much encapsulated everything. They *were* the underdogs, but one that will put up the most aggressive fight you’ll ever see.
Looking back at it, I suppose it wasn't their time. Perhaps Jose wasn't mean to lead them to La Decima. But Jose was certainly the most important pivot of Real Madrid upcoming success.

Mourinho was the first to solve the Barcelona puzzle firstly in Inter in the semis of CL and then he did it even more convincingly at some crucial moments during his spell at Real Madrid. Underrated achievement of Mou.
This is one beautiful football story well summed up. Mourinho's Madrid were really beasts in their 2nd spell....this was the era that made me such a huge football and Madrid fan. I just appreciate how beautiful you summed up the entire story. Thank you
When it was announced that Mourinho was gonna be Madrid’s new manager I was over the top ecstatic. I recall repeatedly saying we’re gonna win the Champions league, we’re winning the Champions league. That didn’t turn out so well back then but a few seasons later we remember how many we won to ad to the total. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Jose seems like a really really hit or miss manager. He's like thst super strict trainer that demands 1000% from you at all times, even out of the gym. Sure, it'll help you at the start, but eventually you'll get sick of him constantly pressing you
The best time in my football life,,,, 45 minutes used to feel like 5 minutes, it was the best players vs the best players, the best manager vs the best manager, the fights, sent offs, goals competition, and every other competition you can imagine, on top of all of that was the media drama and Classico the movie to hype things up.
Their biggest problem was that Jose couldn’t put his ego aside. He couldn’t stand that Ramos, Casillias, and CR7 had so much power, that was his downfall. That’s the reason why Zizou was so successful, he never had an ego and always superb at managing the dressing room
lol Zidane does have ego, just look at how he treated Bale, just the same as Mourinho treating Casillas. Just that at the time Zidane came, Casillas had gone, CR7 and Ramos were already matured very much, and more than that, Zidane doesn't have a strictly strategy like Mourinho's, which make players feel easier to play. The one who doesn't have big ego should be Ancelotti.
The thing about that team was that all the players were at the peak of their powers and just brushed teams aside with a nonchalance I hadn’t seen since the great Milan and Inter teams of the eighties. For neutrals, a delight to watch Luke their arch rivals were also. Two very different teams but masters of their methodology
That Madrid team for me is the best counter attacking team I've ever watched played the game, they could absorb pressure make 3 passes and the ball would be in the back of the opposition's net most times under 5 seconds 😳
Mourinho really does let one bad event escalate into losing the dressing room. Main difference between him and SAF. Surprising really as he excells in so many things.
It was so toxic, but the drama and his beef with Pep was soo entertaining. I literally couldn't wait to read news every week just to find out what's going on. The beef was so strong, it surpassed football, i was in Barcelona for a holiday, and people were giving a Catalan flag, taught me how to chant and mock mourinho in Catalan. And then I went to madrid and people taught the me reverse 😂. It was so awesome and intense to experience football in spain during that time.
This was such a beautiful time in football. I kinda miss the old traditional football with real actual city against city rivalries, the amount of fierceness el classicos brought were electric.

@@RafsanS15 That's the thing. It wasn't like those teams won against noobs. There were real competitions. This makes Atletico winning the league very impressive. Madrid went out against Bayern on penalty shootout. Bayern dominated a bit more but it was a 50-50 game and could go either way. They almost made a comeback against Dortmund. The amount of great chances they missed in the first 15 minutes was crazy. The game could've been the reverse of the first game and it would be fair..like a 4-1 for Madrid.. Zidane's Madrid was more versatile but they had better luck. There were instances Madrid could've been out during the three peat but luck favoured them compared to Mourinho years. They only struggled against Barca . Even that one, with a better luck, i.e without Pepe red card, it could've gone differently ...who knows?Pepe's red was controversial as Alves did a oscar worthy level acting there. It was only after that Messi was able to went solo. Messi scored plenty against Madrid but never after beating 4 players again or before ,why? The answer was Pepe. Pepe as a DM was what usually kept Madrid in the game. Anyway, what I'm saying is Mourinho's Madrid was among the best versions of Madrid including Zidane's. Their difference in successes were not a clear indicator of the talent and what they were capable of. Against Atletico in 2013 copa del rey final, they hit the post 4 times!!! Don't get me wrong.Atletico deserved it but that was some unlucky stuff..Compare that to Ramos 92:48 in the UCL final...where luck favoured Madrid
@@nihalr9 all the top players and coaches will tell you that although they would prefer to win the CL, the League is harder to win. Just think about it how can you be the best team in Europe if you're not the best team in your own country? That bc in the CL there's fewer games/you get drawn teams and thus luck plays a bigger factor, look at Chelsea in '12
@@nihalr9 and I'll give you another example, if you know your history you'll know that a big factor in Real winning their third and fourth CL in the 50s/60s was the young Man. Utd whole team dying in a plane crash, that's why Real offered to give them the CL trophy that year
Mourinho's real madrid team is one of the reasons why real madrid has also been my fantasy/dream team. Also, the time when Real Madrid won la Decima was one of my childhood football favourite moments.
The winning mentality today we see from Madrid players was lost and brought back by Jose. The decima winning team was pretty much the brainchild of Mou. As a Madridista, I'm so greatful for Jose Mourinho "The special One" for his time with us, you were really something special❤🙏
This team should have won a Champions League! But Mourinho's legacy was visible years after he left, he made those Champions League wins possible, before him they wouldn't go through the quarter finals, he paved the way for success!
Coming off the very mercenary "Galactico" era what Real Madrid needed was for its players to become "madridistas" to be "fans" or be invested in their own team. That is precisely what Mourinho accomplished and it's not surprising that Real Madrid has been so powerful and dominant after his tenure. Mourinho made Real Madrid go from a sum of brilliant individualities to an actual team.
I think Mourinho's Madrid suffered from a lack of luck in the CL semifinals, facing the best club side ever in 10/11 and with a dubious red card they didn't stand a chance over 2 legs, but would've probably beaten United in the final. Losing to Bayern on pens in their golden 11/12 season where again they would've most likely battered Chelsea in the final. And finally coming up against Lewandowski's career golden hour in 12/13. Had they won the Champions League in any of those 3 seasons I think the general outlook on that Madrid team and possibly individuals like Mourinho and Ronaldo would be very different.
Great as usual my friend, very insightful and objective, you’re my favorite. In many ways this Real reminds me of peak Arsenal, as good as they’re they underachieved, the records and performances didn’t match the titles. Especially with Real, they remind of great fighters who can be in the p4p list and beat everyone else except the champion. The problem with madrid is obvious (Barcelona) and I believe till this day that Madrid won’t be a consistent winner against Barcelona at that time because they lack the necessary tools to beat them. Let’s breakdown the problem, Jose first match against Barca was a disaster for obvious reasons, he tried new tactics that the team didn’t do before against a team who’s too good to be beat by experiment; a high pressure with a high defensive line takes long time to develop, especially if you know the history behind the players, for example Ronaldo who doesn’t apply the pressure since Man Utd days or Ramos who doesn’t know how to defend in high line. Jose corrected his mistakes and went back on what he do best (parking the bus) the tactics that made him knock Barca out of the champions league. The reason why that tactic didn’t work consistently is because Real was a very offensive minded team throughout the season and they made the defensive switch only when they face Barca. In order to perfect “Parking the bus” you have to do it more frequently, not only that his defenders as good as they’re, their tactical awareness is no where near the guys who perfected the tactic, guys like Terry, Zanetti, Carvalho, Mekalele etc. In order to beat Barca you have to apply the same tactics that Mourinho chose in the first match, he had the right idea but a terrible execution. Exactly like what Bayern did, disturbing the building from back by applying constant pressure from the attackers, high line, focusing on set pieces, initiate the attack don’t wait for the counter, etc. And I believe that this great team of Barca will always suffer against Bayern for the reasons I mentioned.
I would love for someone to make a video testing the case for UEFA and Ref Bias trying to put Barcelona in the finals year after year. They were obviously a great team maybe the greatest but they also were involved in a lot of controversial games and events that seemed to go in their favour. Would be good to have all the evidence and claims laid out to see whether it is just coincidence or whether it truly was a disgrace.
There were just as many bad calls against barca, its just that they were soo strong to even win when the ref was fucking them over, and so people naturaly forget the bad calls againat barca. And when you are winning as much as they did, there are always people that cant wait to see you loose.
Same shit your talking now has happened to Madrid with their 3x sweep of UCL. Shit calls against Bayern and Juve. Dud things happen your still stuck to that butthurt on top of it.
@@GE0attack Wtf are you talking about kid? The Juve penalty was 100% the correct call, this is why nobody talks about it anymore, we all know it was a pen, only salty Barca fans still pretend it was controversial. Bayern got a bs penalty and their goal in the bernabeu was offside, but it's Madrid that had the ref on their side? And those events are not comparable to the joke red card to Van Persie, the 5 penalties Chelsea deserved, Pepe's red card after Alves obvious dive, the Busquets infamous dive against inter. All these were obvious biased calls to help Barcelona get to the final.

This was the most dominant Real in the modern era. The Zidane team mastered the art of winning big games but this team set league records that still hold, perfect counterattacking and the most balanced version of the galatico project ever. Absolute tragedy that all the most solid penalty takers missed!

@@FootballIconic also a fun fact, now i get why fifa 14 used to suggest Diago Lopez over Casillas and why he left Madrid. It was never the same as before. Mourinho did my man dirty
As a Madrid fan, Mourinho reminded Real Madrid who they were, and what they were about: competing, and winning. He brought back a hunger, a mentality and a spirit that are synonyms with Real Madrid, but had been lost for too long by the time he arrived. He showed us and the world that Pep's Barcelona (as you said, possibly the best club team ever) was not invincible. That Madrid team was electrifying and devastating, one of the most fun to watch I can remember. And if it wasn't for how unbelievably good Barça was during those years, they could have defined an era. But the thing is, he achieved all that through pretty extreme methods that really tested the limits of the players, the fans, the press and the club, which ended up giving another side to his legacy, a really ugly one. Most notably (and sadly), his public trial and execution of Casillas. Iker never fully recovered from that, lost his confidence and never gained back the trust of a section of the fans and the president (that's how big a sensation Mourinho was at Madrid, that he managed to convince like 50% of the fans to side with him and turn on a club legend like Casillas), and that ended as we know in the saddest way possible.

Jose Mourinho built the base of what this Real Madrid team was for the past decade. Huge props to him. Everything he laid down from player changes to the monster mentality went on for seasons to come. Great video!
I know it’s easier said than done, but it looks like Mourinho’s sacking was due to his lack of changing along with the new signings and year. He couldn’t bring himself to change his management style and it started bringing problems
Guardiola’s problem was that he micromanaged. He’s always on his players shoulders, telling them what to do and when it came down to making decisions on their own, they would collapse
Complaints from Mourinho’s players: Too egotistical and brought a toxic environment
Complaints from Guardiola’s players: He micromanaged too much and didn’t lead/motivate them
Monster mentality? You mean dirty mentality. One of the most sour loser teams on the face of the earth.

Jose seems like a really really hit or miss manager. He's like thst super strict trainer that demands 1000% from you at all times, even out of the gym. Sure, it'll help you at the start, but eventually you'll get sick of him constantly pressing you
You hit the nail. Players were okay with it at first until they no longer were. Lost his team
That's how it should be. The manager should have the power to tell the players what to do.
The manager should have the power over the players. That's the point of any company

That Madrid team for me is the best counter attacking team I've ever watched played the game, they could absorb pressure make 3 passes and the ball would be in the back of the opposition's net most times under 5 seconds 😳
Real Madrid Di Maria was amazing. And Ronaldo during this season..... insane

If Barca didn’t happen to have the greatest team of all time at the same time of that Mourinho Madrid side we’d look back at that era much differently
In 2012 & 2013 they didn't faced Barca at UCL Semi-final.

This team should have won a Champions League! But Mourinho's legacy was visible years after he left, he made those Champions League wins possible, before him they wouldn't go through the quarter finals, he paved the way for success!
Mourinho laid the foundation the team who won 4 UCL in the same decade. Love this man.
What a fantastic video, I got goosebumps remembering this era, thank you.
Great video, beautiful work
I think Mourinho's Madrid suffered from a lack of luck in the CL semifinals, facing the best club side ever in 10/11 and with a dubious red card they didn't stand a chance over 2 legs, but would've probably beaten United in the final. Losing to Bayern on pens in their golden 11/12 season where again they would've most likely battered Chelsea in the final. And finally coming up against Lewandowski's career golden hour in 12/13.
Had they won the Champions League in any of those 3 seasons I think the general outlook on that Madrid team and possibly individuals like Mourinho and Ronaldo would be very different.
this is particularly the best video of you. you are a gem and definitely underappreciated
He was the only one who rivalled pep and prime barca on an equal footing
He wasn't equal. Barca won more games.
A era mais vencedora do barcelona veio com aquela ajuda de negreira e Uefa xd
I would love for someone to make a video testing the case for UEFA and Ref Bias trying to put Barcelona in the finals year after year. They were obviously a great team maybe the greatest but they also were involved in a lot of controversial games and events that seemed to go in their favour. Would be good to have all the evidence and claims laid out to see whether it is just coincidence or whether it truly was a disgrace.
Controversial. Real players were thugs, beating up their opponents, esp. Messi.

And those events are not comparable to the joke red card to Van Persie, the 5 penalties Chelsea deserved, Pepe's red card after Alves obvious dive, the Busquets infamous dive against inter. All these were obvious biased calls to help Barcelona get to the final.
