In terms of “how can Hans work with Kramnik”, I think Hans was very real when Danya asked him in that second SCC interview: He’s not comfortable with Kramnik’s crusade, but Kramnik has also been a good friend and done a lot for him. Kramnik is still a world class coach and theoretician and has clearly been a good influence on Hans’s game - even his SCC meltdown had a FIDE performance rating of 2754 for blitz. Sometimes relationships are complicated.

It is not rocket science to refine a bot to categorize moves into buckets of easy hard and complex, filter out the deepest lines that are too computer- like, and adjust speed accordingly. Cheating is easy. Cheating a way that doesn't raise flags is a little harder, but still relatively easy.
The only way to ensure nobody is cheating is to isolate every player with no means to communicate with anyone but opponent and board.
Lacking that, the only assurance we have against cheating is each player's sportsmanship and character.
One can analyze a players moves over a number of games, but even then you will miss the sophisticated cheaters, and risk some false positives where there was no cheating.

The Niemann KID is very interesting. A student of mine played the Makogonov (h3, Be3) and I've been seeing this set-up a lot lately. The engines love it for White. It's history is also interesting because there is the Petrosian d4-d5 which prepares Bg5, Qd2, O-O-O and there is the Benko idea of g2-g4, even with O-O. Combine the Petrosian, Benko, and Makoganov, et voilà the new White plan to destroy the KID. Engines are playing it and it works. Key for Black is queen-side play, though in the Petrosian, after d4-d5, Black is supposed to play ...a7-a5, ...Nb8-a6-c5 and you can't get offense from that. So, what can Black do?

I think he is doing this on purpose. He's not dumb. He's trying to stay relevant. Similar to Hans. They are not the "internet interesting people " type. He's chasing clout over Twitter and getting reactions for his tweets. He gets responses and gets covered by the biggest chess channels. Hans is doing the same. They are not as "likable" by the crowds over the internet. I keep seeing this trend more and more. Get clicks, get reactions, get coverage. Positive or negative it doesn't matter anymore. Even RUclips doesn't have a dislike count anymore. So in my opinion the things he does are just for clout and staying relevant in the world of chess.

I keep bumping into this idea: the purpose of lies isn't to get people to believe them, it's to destroy the truth. Accusing everyone of cheating is the perfect way to make the cheating scandal 2 years ago meaningless, because people are going to quit caring if people cheat. The only way to fight this is to quit listening to these 2.

Aka, with Kramnik at his side, starting the procedure left and right, Hans and his cheating past suddenly is being felt a lot less.
