i met Jake a few times, and one specific time in Memphis, TN maybe 2009ish they played Hi-Tone, with Death Before Dishonor (Boston) and Jake spoke with me about my sadness of living in the trenches of Memphis, and being a fan of theirs to help me cope with the reality of hell / life. He hugged me, signed my Decibel magazine when they got the cover issue, and blessed me with words of love.
I'm from Memphis too. Had the opportunity to see them while I was in NC. Wish I had been privy to this style of music in 2009 would have loved to see them then.
Wait... so Bannon didn't do the clean singing?! I was always so proud of him nailing these takes... Jacob sings on later albums and it's very close to this sound... that's awesome.
Big ups and maximum respect to guest vocalist Jonah Jenkins, formerly of Only Living Witness, a band you should go listen to right the fuck now! This track is an amazing re-casting of his considerable vocal talent in a more metallic vein than his earlier band and they really nailed this. Coffin worlds with words.
His more recent band(, and when i say recent i mean like 15 years ago ) raw radar war. Pretty awesome. Much different than only living witness. He is a good dude. He booked my band a couple times and was super supportive of the newer metal bands in boston that were coming up ag the time
When I see me in your eyes I just want to go blind When our words build coffin worlds I just want a place to hide When old ghosts meet new regrets My daylight fades to grey When our days bring guilt and shame My heart turns black These are my tombs Painted black and blue These are my tombs Painted just for you Goodnight Goodnight dear Goodbye
the fact that on the vinyl those two tracks are divided (one on side A, the other on side B) is definetely a crime against all that is sacred and holy.
His name is Jonah Jenkins. He was the vocalist of a 90's Boston-area hardcore/post-hardcore/alt-metal band called Only Living Witness. They were incomparable and you should listen to them now.
You don't know life until you work 12 hours and blast this on the way home smoking a Newport
I'll die a happy man if I get to see this band live, hopefully someday, South America; Chile 🇨🇱🤘🤘🇨🇱
6 years later… have you seen them live yet?
Seen them about 13 times. Met them a few times, and i pray you soon get to see them my friend
7 de noviembre de 2024. its your chance ma dude!

@@NiaOverman that’s so amazing. I’d love to see them in NC someday. I love seeing them all over, experiencing their sets in random places.
Genius. Adore Converge. All the mental, mathy stuff but this is by far the best "slow song" they've done.
Wait... so Bannon didn't do the clean singing?!

If you hear Jacob in person it is immediately clear that this is not his singing lol
It's Jonah Jenkins from OLW

Ah, figures this wasn't Jacob.

Goodnight dear
Goodbye

Not on mine it isn't. Both are on side B
What an epic track!
Sounds like IAMX gone full metal. I love it.

Listening to this as I'm considering going the woods with a noose.
Hey sad to hear that, I hope things are better for you now, I'm not sure what country you're in but there are numbers you can call for help ♥️
You would never get to hear this again though…
